Defense Lawyer Makes Shock Allegation About Why Texas Deputy Was at Gas Station at Time of Killing

The lawyer representing the man accused of killing Texas Deputy Darren GoForth said Monday that his review of evidence has led him to believe the officer was at the gas station for a rendezvous with a woman he was having an affair with.

“I believe he was not there pumping gas. I believe he went to the station to meet this young lady,” said Anthony Osso, who is representing Shannon Miles.

Miles is charged with capital murder in the case, a charge that can only be brought against him if he murdered GoForth while the deputy was performing a “lawful discharge of an official duty.” If the deputy was at the gas station for another reason, the charge could be reduced to murder.

“From my client’s standpoint, this would no longer be a capital murder, but just a murder. It wouldn’t carry the death penalty as punishment,” Osso told reporters outside his office, according to KPRC-TV.

Probably so. A lot of cops are cheaters. More so in this area. It amazes me how naive the women on the shore are. That karma train just may have smacked him.

Now someone needs to put a cap in the back of that idiot lawyers head.

I am confident this wasn't the case and if so does that mean the cop hating coon had a right to murder him!

Probably so? He was murdered for God sake! He didn't have to die at the hands of a cop hating black thug! I can't wait till some one murders you or your loved one and then we can relish how calloused people are about that murder.

Murder is murder! The thug killed the cop! Why the cop was there should have no bearing on the case....karma may well have been served - but the thug was a murderer regardless!

Wow...cop hating "coon"...really?

You all seem to be missing the point that it makes a difference in sentencing. The lawyer would be neglectful in his duties towards his client if he didn't bring it up.

I want to see his proof! !!! If he is just trying to put doubt in the jury he should be dealt with.

It's irrelevant why the cop was there. He was supposedly pumping gas when the dirtbag murdered him.

He should get the death penalty.

7:35 technically it may make a difference - he should get the needle regardless!

What cess pool did they find this lawyer? What a bunch of crock to get the case changed to murder instead of capital murder.

Lawyers, man they can sure come up with some whoppers.

"Wow...cop hating "coon"...really?" Oh, for God sake, 7:35 - get off the sensitivity train. I'd much rather be called a stupid name and risk having my feelings hurt than have some thug pump a bullet in my back. The guy is cowardly murdering scum. You seem more concerned with another poster calling him a politically-incorrect pejorative than the fact that he murdered another human being. Your priorities are screwed up.

Boy, that could really screw up his wife's share of his "killed in the line of duty" pension and life insurance.
