Could It Be True David Recor Got A Six Month Severance Package?

It has been reported that former Town Manager David Recor received a six month severance package to exit his position from Ocean City.

With the current and former City Council KNOWING their slush fund was depleting for the past eight years, your representatives knew very well that the multi million dollar reserves were disappearing fast, yet they did nothing over the past eight years to start cutting back.

Now Ocean City is faced with a massive, (record breaking) tax increase, so much so their asking the Courts to allow them to remove legislation that will allow them to increases taxes even more.

It's moves like this one above that is costing the taxpayers big time and it's no wonder the Mayor is saying he'll fill in Recor's position, THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT ANY OTHER WAY.

Just remember Folks, they knew they were in trouble eight years ago and you've seen the salaries we've been publishing for years in Ocean City. Some, (if not all) need to be held accountable. By the way, I was told this is being kept very quiet referencing Recor's severance package.

The council majority that hired Recor was elected to control costs. They didn't do their job and were voted out but the same old reckless spenders were voted back in. The voters of OC deserve what they got. They have been using money that should have gone into the retirement fund to balance the budget and to keep from raising taxes. That foolhardy choice will soon come back to haunt the taxpayers. Pretty much the same as the Federal government has been doing with Social Security. One of the reasons I sold my condo that I had for over 20 years and had lived in for 10 was because I saw what was happening with salaries, retirement and budgets and I knew I needed to get out while I could.

If so, it's wrong.

Should have been terminated for failure to comply with their substance abuse policy.

But still a good strategic move if it happened.

$75k +/- clears the deck for their search for his replacement. Lawyer fees defending a lawsuit for discharge would be expensive, even if the town prevailed (they would have) but discovery process could create other Pandora's Box problems while generating costs.

They should hire Joe Albero. He could get this mess solved. Cross sheriff Joe Arpaio and Donald Trump and you get Joe Albero. The people of Ocean Ciry would appreciate you Joe, not like those idiots in Salisbury

It is accurate.

Good for him! I once got 6 mos severance from a computer company I worked for. A very compassionate action.

Yikes, Salisbury is no longer the leading laughingstock of the Eastern Shore!

Sorry to say 6:23 PM Salisbury still has the golden award for being showboat of laughing stock government.

Did you hear the latest? The City Council is actually taking a request to a legislative vote because a young female wants to raise chickens at her property. Day, Spies, and the other guy on the council (who was on the teleconferencing) all agreed. Both Shields and Mitchell did not agree with this. I think it is so stupid.

Imagine the noise, not to mention bird-flu and possible infections from the chickens to other neighbors pets, and how about the smell?? The girl promises to keep the pens clean, and said the chickens don't make noise. When Day said he fully supported anything that pertains to sustainable growth in town I almost lost it. He went on to say forget the noise, she can do whatever she wants to do on her property and the neighbors don't have any recourse because we will adjust the ordinance accordingly.

If I had any thought that Day was somewhat intelligent, I certainly didn't after this meeting was over. How would you like to be living next door to these clowns???? No one does. But then again, Day sold out the citizens because after all it is chickens and his dad is into chickens isn't he????????

This council couldn't decide on a curfew for Salisbury that would help cut down crime in the city because they had to discuss it further and give it more thought, but raising chickens in town, hell yes let's do it, yes, yes, yes. And guess who gets to handle complaints when they start rolling in? Animal Control, they already have enough to do without worrying about chickens. What a bunch of losers. They are terrified of the ACLU; scared to take any actions.

Small minds prevail...

There are only a small core of Town Managers who actually got and continue to hold their jobs because of the skills and abilities. Everyone under them hold a job because of a friend or relative. When key positions are made vacant, the nepotism employees rise to the top. Problem is that many can barely spell much less use a computer. The HR guys is most entertaining as he goes out on the circuit preaching EEO. It's somewhat silly when you look at OC communications makeup. I suppose it's possible that they've taught all the male employees to sound like women on the radio. If you have a (trunked) scanner, you know what I am talking about.

As for the TM replacement, the Town absolutely did the right thing in negotiating an amiable agreement with Mr. Recore. Consider that your goal is to hire the MOST qualified replacement. Certainly, a negative separation of the last person that held the job will discourage GOOD candidates from applying and you end up worse than where you were.

David was professional in recognizing the situation that deserved a profession resolution as were those on Council who realized the same.

I call complete BS! He was worthless, a liar, the council has been very dissatisfied for a long time. Good source says he broke down and they felt sorry for him. He's done in his field, spends money like a drunk sailor, Rick's filling the position for six months, no net loss. Recore will be bankrupt in 12 months.

I understand Recor already has another job lined up. Had been in the works for a while. The Silly Council micromanaged his every move. Every department head under Recor made $150K. Aren't they capable of making a decision. It is no secret Recor was consumed with babysitting the Silly Council.
