OCPD: SUSPECTS IDENTIFIED, CHARGES FORTHCOMING IN SERIES OF GRAFFITI TAGGINGS

(April 23, 2015) – The Ocean City Police Department has identified suspects associated with the series of graffiti taggings discovered in the area of 16th Street north through 20th Street in the early morning hours of April 19, 2014.

Officers first discovered graffiti in the area of 17th Street and Philadelphia Avenue at approximately 5 a.m. on April 19, 2015. After a canvas of the area, officers located approximately 45 graffiti taggings affecting multiple businesses and citizens. With assistance from area businesses, officers learned that suspects from outside the local area were responsible for the vandalism.

Citizens and business owners that believe they are a victim of this series of graffiti taggings are asked to contact Detective David Whitmer of the Ocean City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 410-520-5390 or dwhitmer@oceancitymd.gov.

The investigation is on-going at this time and charges are pending. Additional information, including the names of the suspects involved, will be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.

Parents and kids both should be responsible to pay to properly correct the vandalism. Also community service should be required and a long probation term. Not PBG.
