MCPS principal kept child sex abuse case quiet to avoid ‘scandal,’ prosecutors say

ROCKVILLE, Md. (WJLA) – A Montgomery County substitute teacher pleaded guilty to pawing young girls Wednesday, triggering allegations about his former boss' gross neglect.

In November 2014, police arrested Jose Pineda, 50, of Gaithersburg, after three 12-year-old girls reported he fondled their legs, back and buttocks. The three stand-alone incidents happened in crowded classrooms at Roberto Clemente and Ridgeview middle schools.

Following extensive media coverage, a fourth female victim, now 23, also came forward. “Victim D” said Pineda touched her in 2004 while she attended Forest Oak Middle School in Gaithersburg.

The girl recalled riding the school bus home in tears. She and her mother returned to Forest Oak that same day and met with a counselor and the school principal. According to prosecutors, the principal told the mother and student to avoid contacting police or Child Protective Services (CPS) because he "did not want to make a big scandal or harm the reputation of the school." Montgomery County Police were never notified and Pineda was consequently allowed to stay on the MCPS substitute teaching roster until his arrest 10 years later.

Sick pervert. If it were up to me he'd be publically castrated and left to bleed to death.

Wicomico covers up abuse! Kindergarten teacher at Northwester elem never was investigated after several years of complaints. Ultimately causing a parent to get upset and he was arrested. Poor dude is a good guy upset about bruises on his kid and he gets locked up. I wish I knew that teachers name or I'd post it.

The teachers name wouldn't be on google. No investigation was held so no arrest. Read ! This is very disturbing to read. And I recall seeing comments similar to this in the past. That north western keeps coming up as well. Let my concerns over my kids safety and bruises not be addressed and I will get arrested as well. But mine will make the news.

The local Civil Air Patrol covered up the sex abuse in 2004 of a young girl. She was sexually assaulted by the leader at camp, but they covered it up. They had the guy tried in Frederick county instead of Wicomico.

That's rare. Sexual misconduct in the C.A.P is very rare. Very good stuff they do.
