New Jersey driver charged with $150,000 in heroin has Sussex County ties

A traffic stop Jan. 20 on Route 1 that uncovered about $150,000 in heroin in a car trunk, may have been meant for a Sussex County location, but police say they don’t know where.

Davon Tucker, 32, of Paterson, N.J., and a woman passenger were traveling south on Route 1 when police stopped them in connection with speeding.

“Tucker has ties to people in eastern Sussex County. It is unknown where and who they are, though,” said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Tucker was clocked going 72 mph in a 55 mph zone, according to court records. When an officer contacted Tucker, court records state he “smelled a strong odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle.”

“smelled a strong odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle.”

Found was 2.8 grams (1/10th ounce) in a baggie in the center console of the vehicle.
The officer has an excellent sense of smell.

I smell Marijuana! The biggest lie used by police across the county to gain entry to your vehicle. Granted it does work in some cases at the cost of taking away thousand if not hundreds of thousands of people's rights in the process. This technique has been handed down since the war on Americans aka (the war on drugs) began.

good job on the bust, But the technique used is flawed and cost many Americans there civil rights.i can tell you this. It is almost impossible for a human standing outdoors in the weather to smell a strong odor of raw Marijuana (not burnt) of such a small amount wrapped in a baggie stowed in a closed compartment from 5 feet away. This officer is plainly lying . Either that or there is no need for police dogs let this officer do the sniffing because it sure seems he has a sniffer like no other human on earth. Just a shame this officer had to break the law to enforce it like so many others across the country do. It's nice seeing the drugs off the streets, but I feel for the innocent people who have had to stand on the side of the road and watch there rights stripped from them simply because a cop doesn't like what he sees and claims he smells Marijuana. Next you will have head kicked in while some cop screams (stop resisting ). In legal terms Which basically means I can kick your head in legally and get away with it. These two terms are a cops goto when he or she feels the need to take your rights and kick your head in.

If you don't wanna believe such things go on on a daily basis you are either out of touch with what's going on in America or you are sheepeople plain and simple.

11:00 Because there's no way the suspect had it out, then put it away upon seeing lights.

I love all of you armchair detectives and lawyers on the shore.

And, 12:40, I guess you have only smelled crap marijuana. Real mj can fill up a room in a second. The rest of your post is just normal tin foil hat, paranoid, basement dweller rhetoric.

So I did a little research 11:00. The national weather service called for light winds of 10 mph on the 20th . Not to mention he was standing on the side of one of Delawares busiest highways rt1. With cars and trucks passing at 55mph to which I'm sure cause gust of at least 20mph and you really think this cop could smell 2.5 grams of Marijuana wrapped in a baggie stowed in a compartment while standing 4 to 5 feet away? You sir imo are nothing more then a sheepeole who would believe anything a cop or politician would tell ya.

I agree, a 1/10th of a gram of good skunky marijuana can smell up the whole room, and the smell lingers. And once you've smelled it, you don't forget it. I remember it from the day the police came to the elementary school and burned it in an assembly, no more than 40 years ago.
