The fire was reported about 3:30 a.m. by an alarm monitoring company and a neighbor who saw flames at the mansion near Annapolis, said Capt. Russ Davies, spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
“From the family, we know who’s unaccounted for,” Davies said, though he declined to say who specifically could not be located. “If you look at the damage, you know, it would not be a stretch to think that if there were occupants that they did not survive the fire.”

I am also hoping they were away somewhere. Very sad.
Arson? Insurance? Family revenge? Where are the other sons? Or was this guy a republican donor who was paid back by the outgoing administration?
It does seem questionable that no one could escape such a large home with, I am sure, lots of doors and windows.
I did not realize it was the grandchildren that perished.

Very odd indeed. The speculation is running rampant due to the lack of definitive information coming from officials.
I bet they were Murdered and the house set on fire to cover the evidence...
I did read a comment on another site where someone said a source within the ATF confirmed to CNN that an accelerant was probably used. I never went to CNN myself to confirm so can't be sure this is what CNN is claiming.
