Wicomico County: If You Want Higher Taxes, Vote Democrat!

Do you recall the spouse of a former Democrat member of the Salisbury City Council who said that he wanted to pay more in taxes? Well, if that's your preference, there’s a coterie of Democrat candidates who, if elected, can make that wish come true. Rick Pollitt, Laura Mitchell, Josh Hastings and Kirby Travers – along with that rock-ribbed RINO, John Hall, and a Democrat, Earnest Davis, who are unopposed in this year's election.

Taking it from the top, Pollitt has been silent of late regarding the County's "tax cap", which he despises, but if he and the others named above are elected we will soon see him once again pandering to eliminate or emasculate the very reason why the County has maintained at least a modicum of fiscal restraint during his tenure. Then, there's the "rain tax" that the state officials that Pollitt supports, including his leader, Anthony Brown, favor. Like them, Pollitt never saw a tax he didn't like, so don't fall for the latest anti-tax rhetoric spouted by Pollitt and company. And that crowd also loves to spend other peoples’ money.

Laura Mitchell is currently and actively pushing to implement the rain tax as a member of Salisbury's City Council. Both she and Hastings can be counted on the vote both to start that tax and to kill the tax gap, and Travers would surely do the same. Given that Hall and Davis will be on the next County Council, if Mitchell, Hastings and Travers or just two of them are elected, get out your checkbook, folks, and for your savings and retirement accounts, too.

But, if you want to protect your property and other assets, vote for the Republican candidates: Bob Culver, John Cannon, Matt Holloway and, if you live in their respective districts, Joe Holloway, Larry Dodd, Mark Kilmer.

laura Mitchell also supports the county differential in the form of funds to the city by the county for duplicated services. she's been quieted on such decisions during this election. If that is how she really feels, why isn't it part of her campaign message?

What everyone should be aware of by now is the extreme amount of deceit and 'in your face' theft and corruption that permeates the Democratic party. What every citizen of DelMarVa, of Maryland & of the United States should take away from this 2014 mid-term election is the shear magnitude of lawlessness that oozes from the Democratic party. One only needs to read headlines, forget the details of the core article, to understand how deeply this sickness of ethical demise descends within the Democratic party.
Locally we have underhanded business dealings, questionable campaign contributions, probable drug abuse, unbridled use of public funds for private purposes, tyrannical abuse of power, it goes on and on...
Nationally we see Democratic candidates and party members spouting lies and nonsensical utterings like, "businesses don't create jobs..", "we have to pass it to see what's in it..", "If you like your medical insurance, you can keep it..", "Benghazi was caused by a video.." and on and on... We've seen the IRS, which reports to the Democratic WH, target opposing political party's fund raising organizations attempting to destroy that opposition while allowing phoney non-profits like Lt. Governor Brown's America’s Families First Action Fund to exist untouched.
By now it should be obvious to even the most casual observer, that the Democratic party is a lawless conspiracy of serpentine souls with demonic disregard for anything but the party agenda., the destruction of liberty, freedom and the American middle class.

Well said 224PM. It's hard for me to even be around a Democrat and listening to all their lies! They actually think they are right about everything and it drives me nuts as you can't even reason with a Democrat!

They are clueless!

There are two options for it.

1) Tax Differential goes to the City of Salisbury in their General Fund.

2) The Tax Differential goes back to the tax paying citizen.

Laura Mitchell has already indicated numerous times that she wants Option #1. That is because she wants the money to go into the General Fund so that the City Council can spend the money as they wish.

If Option #2 is chosen then the money goes back into the pockets of the tax paying property owner in Salisbury.

Of course she doesn't care about Option #2 because she doesn't own property or pay taxes.

Josh Hastings isn't a property owner so he doesn't care about the tax differential going back to the tax payer. He has a city address and no one can confirm that he even lives at that address. He is always talking so much about Mardela many of us believes he still lives in Mardela. Look at the picture on his mailing. It shows him living in Mardela Springs.

Well spoken my friend.

Anyone that votes for a Democrat because "he is a nice guy" should be ashamed of themselves. I have heard of numerous people state that they are voting for Norm Conway because he is a nice guy. Voting for Sarbanes because he is a nice guy. I haven't heard anyone say they are voting for Hastings, but I have heard them say he is a nice guy. Don't be fooled by these "nice guys" because the LIE!!

Either option would mean more taxes for County property owners who don't live in Salisbury.

Democrats support Obama and O'Malley / Brown. They are proven liars. Hillary Clinton is a liar as is her husband. Why would any American vote for a Democrat is beyond me. Remember, all those mentioned above began on the local level and moved up. When you vote on Tuesday please remember that State and National level candidates stare on the local level.

You are correct because the tax payers would have to make up the difference.
