MIKULSKI, CARDIN ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $500,000 FOR COMMUNITY SAFETY AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT ON THE EASTERN SHORE

WASHINGTON –U.S. Senators Barbara A. Mikulski and Ben Cardin (both D-Md.) today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development (USDARD) has awarded $537,000 in rural development funds to communities in Caroline and Dorchester Counties. This funding includes a $37,000 grant to the Town of Federalsburg in Caroline County to purchase surveillance cameras for the Federalsburg Police Department, as well as awarding a $500,000 loan to Delmarva Community Services to cover construction costs for a new intergenerational center in Cambridge.

“USDA Rural Development grants and loans have a profound effect on Maryland and the Eastern Shore’s rural communities,” Senator Mikulski said. “These funds in the federal checkbook will help protect community safety in Caroline County and provide our law enforcement with the tools they need to keep us safe. And in Dorchester, federal funds will help build a new intergenerational center to build up the community by providing a safe and constructive environment for children and families. These are smart investments for Maryland families and communities on the Eastern Shore.”

“These USDA Rural Development grants will strengthen the fabric of two Eastern Shore communities,” U.S. Senator Ben Cardin said. “By providing police in Caroline County new technology that will help keep residents safe and helping Dorchester County build a new center to provide services and support to families, these grants will make two Maryland towns even better places to live.”

The Mayor and Council of Federalsburg will use the grant to purchase surveillance cameras for the Federalsburg Police Department. The population served by the project is 2,755. Delmarva Community Services in Dorchester County will use their loan to cover anticipated project construction costs for a new three story multi-purpose intergenerational center. The center will focus on programming for children, seniors and disabled at all income levels.

The Rural Development grant program was created to improve the economy and quality of life in rural America. The program helps support essential services and infrastructure improvements, and promotes economic development by supporting loans to businesses through banks and community-managed lending pools.

I hope these two idiots get voted out next. All they know how to do is spend money. NEVER any mention of cutting out wasteful spending. OH, I forgot, the are liberal democrats.

I don't want tangible 'hold-on-to' gov't handouts. I want my intangible 'rights' & 'freedom' back from our gov't. I want the infringing unconstitutional laws passed in the last 50-60 'progressive?' years to be revisited and repealed , starting with the HSA.
Work on something like that for us Barb & Ben.

Grant to purchase Surveilence Cameras, Wow, how is that improving local economy? And Half a Million to build what? Intergenerational Center for what? So they want to have surveilance on people coming and going to work, so they can get even deeper in their pockets, calling it a safety measure, Yeah Right. How about improving these crappy roads, so there will not be hard working people falling into ditch when driving tractor.trailer loads, that's a Safety Measure. Not building some phony center for people to hang out, they can do that at Wal-Mart. But, I gotta say, sounds like another "good" BS from Ben & Barb, 2 liberal socialists of Maryland. Time is up, you are next, don't let the door hit your back.
