Democratic Comptroller of Maryland, Peter Franchot, estimates state property tax will be raised 67 percent to pay for state debt

ANNAPOLIS, MD – “I’m estimating that we would have to raise the state property tax by 67 percent to pay for the debt payments we owe over the next five years. … The bill has to be paid. … The chickens are coming home to roost,” State Comptroller Peter Franchot said yesterday during an interview on WMAL’s “Drive at Five.”

Here is the link to full interview. Interview starts at the 11:30 mark:http://www.stationcaster.com/player_skinned.php?s=1221&c=15093&f=3418973

Gubernatorial candidate Larry Hogan responded to this news by saying, "Even the thought of raising property taxes 67 percent is unconscionable. This administration has raised taxes on hard working Marylanders and their families 40 consecutive times, taking over $10 billion out of our economy. Maryland does not have a revenue problem – it has a spending problem. In the Hogan-Rutherford administration, we are going to get spending under control and restore a responsible, realistic budget so that we can roll back as many taxes as possible and get our economy going again. A vote for Anthony Brown is a vote for a continuation of the same failed policies that have gotten us to this point. Maryland simply cannot afford another four years like the last eight."

No wonder everyone has their homes up for sale. Can not afford to live in Maryland anymore. There is a lot of overspending in Maryland and if they were a private entity they would not be allowed to do this. The middle class better wake up and smell the roses. YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!!

Well, all you voters run right out and vote for Mathias and other Dumbocrats to make SURE it happens. Thats what you've done in the past and that's why we're in the mess we're in. Some of you NEVER wake up because you think in the long run there is somthing in it for you. HASN'T IT OCCURED TO YOU AFTER SO MANY LET DOWNS AND LIES FROM HOPEFULS AND INCUMBENTS, IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!!!!!! If you took the time to examine the track record of 'Good Things' that has come to Delmarva you would see those hopes are like a schoolgirl who aspires to be a ballerina. Nobel but unlikely. A vote for Hogan certainly has the POTENTIAL to improve matters in this state. A vote for Brown is a GUARANTEE that the downward spiral will continue. Your cynicism aside, there is a huge distinction between these candidates.

Violence is the only way to stop this.

Ahhhhh...... the POTENTIAL is always the catch isn't it?
They are ALL (sorry, even "your guy") is a back-door dealing, bribe-soliciting (YOU can call them "campaign contributions", but we ALL know that when someone gives you $100,000, there better be some payback somewhere), say anything you want to hear , two faced, tax raising, I'll spend 5 million to get this part time job that pays less than the interest on my portfolio, slime bags.
Jefferson PREDICTED this very scenario. He also predicted people like you and had some pretty specific ideas on what to do with BOTH of types.
Quit being naïve and thinking there's much difference between any of them. NOT in what they say, but in what they actually DO.

Do you realize that the gentleman who runs this blog recently ran for political office? According to your LIMITED logic, he is a "back-door dealing, bribe-soliciting" etc. I think you owe someone an apology.
