Just Say NO

Here we go again! Now it's an office in West Virginia claiming that new federal regulations restrict parents from staying with their children. It may be the doctor's policy, but to our knowledge it is NOT based on any updated federal law.

I wonder what kind of office this is, and what the age group of children then are dealing with. I can understand that 13-17 year old girls probably wouldn't want their parents in their OB/GYN exam room.

Looks like a dentist office.

Children under the age of 18 cannot give permission for HIPAA and Osha regulations - PARENTS SIGNED THOSE FORMS! They have every right to accompany their children for their visits. If the dentist, doctor, nurse says no - FIND ANOTHER!

I would walk out with my child. This is a deal breaker!

Your child is YOUR responsibility. I don't give a rat's butt what any dr. or gov't says. YOU/WE are in charge! Not some lying pos kop or gov't agency.

This must be a facility that deals with birth control, STD's, etc., possibly abortion in some state. Under HIPPA there is confidentiality for minors particularly related to sexual activity. The confidentially includes parents and legal guardians.
The excuse given is some minors may not seek care if their privacy isn't protected even from parents and guardians.

Well, 608, then I guess my kid will not be seen by this clinic, but by me instead, or one who abides by the law.

I'm with you 6:57 but if your minor wants info or treatment related to something sexual the parents are not privy to that info. It's a Clinton era law that went into effect in 2002 and President Bush was powerless to do anything about it because the democrats controlled Congress at the time. Unlike the abomination putrid obama, President Bush didn't go against the Constitution and misuse his executive powers. it's terrible what the democrats are doing to this country. Parents should have the right to know if their child is even considering becoming sexually active, but the democrats don't think so. They are an evil people, who will find that special place waiting in hell for them when they die.

For years there was a dental office in Salisbury where parents were not allowed to go back with their children. I walked out. Later I discovered he had a child sex offender in his home. Wonder if he knew???? Lots of others knew.
