Pemberton Elementary remains on a precautionary lockdown this afternoon, but has been able to have a modified dismissal. Students have now been dismissed, with any students who live in the Waterside and Pemberton Apartments remaining at Pemberton Elementary. Parents may visit Pemberton to sign out those students.
Any James M. Bennett High or Bennett Middle students who would normally be transported to the affected area have been kept at JMB or BMS for now, as have some students of the Wicomico Early Learning Center. Parents may pick up their students at the Bennett schools or WELC, or await their transportation to Pemberton Elementary for pickup, when the lockdown is lifted and the students can be moved to the elementary school.

I just got a phone call from BMS about Bus 84.
Joe thanks for your coverage. We have a student in the Pemberton school and appreciate being informed through your website. WBOC had nothing on it when Rachel Ray was on. Their upcoming news break at 3:50pm only mentioned about prescription drugs and tuning at 4pm for that. They had no news on the shooting or Pemberton being lockdown.
It's a good thing the Maryland State Police are on the scene to assist. Hopefully they won't cover this one up.
Well done WCBOE. The crisis planning was put into effect and organized. The primary focus was on keeping the children safe, which was done not only at Pemberton but at other schools that dismiss to this area.

Um, what clown from the BOE is posting this. I got the phone call from BMS at 3:35 PM. The school gets out at 2:45 PM and the incident happened around 2 PM so how can you claim this was a job well done by the WCBOE and give them credit. You are an IDIOT!! Give the Maryland State Police and other allied agencies the credit.
Close Pemberton Manor... it isn't worth the hassle.
The Sheriff's office had four at Pemberton when I picked up my son. I was glad they were there. The Principal did an awesome job handling it for me.

The Maryland State Poopers have nothing to do with school crisis plans. All Wicomico County Sheriff's Office. Dont you have some traffic to run 5:15 or another crime not to solve.
Good question Daddio. But then again the school has a fully automated sprinkler system in place so there is such a thing as sheltering in place. With all the new fangled gadgets and fire codes we have basically prevented out paid fire service out of a job, but you wouldn't know that in Salisbury. The reality is there isn't much of a need for a full paid fire department like they have in Salisbury. The volunteers could handle all the "fire" calls in Salisbury if given the task.

Not sure what your uneducated response is, but my guess it's from a person that couldn't get accepted into the MSP Academy. To bad for you ignorant comment because the kudos going out to the state police because the SPD needed it and it wasn't a bust on the sheriff's office. Just proves their are some Richard Heads employed with the Sheriff's Office also.
