Punishment After Serving Time

The supposed purpose of jail is making people pay for their crimes. But, even after someone has completed their sentence, their criminal record can keep punishing them for life. Even though it's illegal, many employers reject applicants, or even fire workers, because of a criminal record. According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, employers are only allowed to consider criminal records as one factor in the hiring process, and only if the conviction is directly related to the work. However, many employers aren't following that guideline, and the 65 million Americans with a criminal record can find it disproportionately harder to find, or to keep, a full-time job. People convicted for non-violent or drug-related crimes can find it nearly impossible to achieve a stable economic existence, and their loss translates into bigger problems for local governments. Cities and states can be denied important tax revenue, employers can exploit workers and keep area wages low, and communities are missing out on all that productivity. Once someone completes a sentence, they've paid for their crime – and that price shouldn't include their entire economic future.

heck try to be a person who had sex with their younger girlfriend / boyfriend and get caught and be put on the sex offenders registry and YOU will never find a job ever and how is that trying to help a person to get back on their feet ?? It don't ?? And hey did you know that you can even be put on this list for getting caught peeing in public and the list grows ?? Does the Sex Offender List really HELP or is it just a smoke screen and a vote grabber ?? Cause if it is really a great crime stopper why not expand it to include other violent crimes and mostly Spouse Abusers as this is the fastest growing crime in America and our Young Daughter and Son can meet one of them and never know they been charged or convicted of abusing prior spouses unless we had a spousal abuse registry ???

Most convicted Sex Offenders never repeat this crime, stats prove it, less than 3% of them re-commit a sex offence.
What we need is a web site and list for the drunks! These people continue to repeat this crime over and over again, with no regard as to who they might kill when they are behind the wheel.
And yes, a conviction for a sex offence, even if it is just a vindictive student or a accusation during a divorce, once your on the list, your done!
I guess the only way to get away with molesting children is to be drunk during the crime, as drunks are excused over and over again!

Agree on pot and minor charges.

Theft is out of the question. If you are a thief, you will steal from my customers, and it will be my fault because I hired you.

Bigger crimes; more reason.

"YOU" would hire a pot head ?? Come on man for real. Pot heads lose their memory and may think the cash in the till is their money and use it to buy more weed?? And may even forget where they work out and or spend all day smoking weed at work and eating chips..
