Goldey-Beacom Graduate Student Charged In Rape Of Female Student

Location: Goldey-Beacom College, Jay W. Miller Hall (Campus Housing), 4701 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE

Date of Occurrence: Sunday, November 10, 2013 at approximately 3:00 a.m.

Victim: 18 year old female student

Committed to HRYCI on $120,000 Cash Bond

Resume: Wilmington-Troopers have charged a 23 year old male graduate student in connection with an early morning alleged rape of a female student which occurred at a Goldey-Beacom College apartment early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at approximately 3:00 a.m. when the 18 year old female student met Carlos E. Bastardo-23, of whom she is an acquaintance, at his apartment in the Jay W. Miller Hall located on the campus of Goldey-Beacom College. Once inside, Bastardo began to make unwanted sexual advances toward the victim and eventually forcibly sexually assaulted her inside of the apartment. The victim was able to free herself from Bastardo and fled the apartment. She responded to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation and contacted State Police.

Carlos E. Bastardo was located on the Goldey-Beacom College campus by Troopers and taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with Rape Second Degree without Consent and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $120,000 Cash Bond.

Detectives continue to investigate this incident and in consideration of the victim, only limited information will be released.
