How close is this location from a school?

Anonymous said...

Is it me or does that thing look like it could use a little spray paint?

Anonymous said...

110 yes lol.

Anonymous said...

They also put one by the littleeague fields.

Anonymous said...

I thought the idea was to be placed by schools.

Anonymous said...

There are some in Delmar. The word is that they bring in $4,000.00 a month. But, that hasn't stopped O'Malley from taxing us to death.

There's another one on Camden too, past Main St. heading south.

School zones are a circulr mile from any school

Anonymous said...

It's not about the kids its about the money.

Anonymous said...

Need to pay for that new building! And for that Inmates Car parts!

Anonymous said...

Better not ticket the King of Fruitland. He'll shut the whole town down in a heartbeat!

Anonymous said...

who is the king?

Anonymous said...

Well, how about you just stop speeding. What a concept!

Anonymous said...

4:20pm No, who thinks they are King?

Anonymous said...

When did the approval come for cameras that are not in a school district zone. Yet another reason I got out of Fruitland.

Robin Hood said...

I think a drive by shooting with a paintball gun is in order!!!

Anonymous said...

5:21..nobody thinks they are king, but obviously someone has serious issues and arent man or women enough to use their name. they would rather make accusations and hide behind a keyboard. rather than talk about issues. Why dont you talk about issues 3:56? Or is that too boring for you and too much like work? be part of the solution and not the problem coward.

Anonymous said...

6:53 take a drive around all those cameras are pretty close to schools.. While I am not positive that they are in schools zones, they look like they may be.. I am sure they did their homework first.

Anonymous said...

I'd really like to know how much these cost the city of Fruitland, and what the bored, ticket happy boys going to do now?

Anonymous said...

You know, if you complained about speeding on your street, wouldnt you expect the police to do something about it? If they didnt, I would be on here complaining that they ignored my complaint. if it is within Marylands law, i see no problem with it. it sure beats paying someone to sit and babysit motorists that want to speed past my house. it is called quality of life. if you want to speed, do it on the bypass or somewhere else. not by my house. the speed limit is the law. if you disagree with a speed limit, then petition to have it raised or lowered. if not, dont complain about following it. by the way, i already asked and these cameras cost zero to the fruitland resident.....let me repeat....zero. all of those speeding soccer moms taking their kids to crown past my house will help support our police department. thank you.

Nothing like Big Brother watching over you. Thanks Mike Phillips!

And governments and police depts lose all that money?! What, are you crazy?

How about all you cs'ers stop nickel and diming the public?

Now THAT'S a concept!

The King decided not to use his name and post anon! He has thin skin I promise you! He will reply he can't stand it!

That's the closest ones to the Little League fields. Make sure you know what you are talking about before you post.

If that is the case they should be directly in front of the schools just like the ones the sheriffs park in cars in front of the schools. As a matter of fact since it's for the Wicomico County Schools then the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office should be responsible for it.

There is another one in Fruitland? Is the FPD using the portable cameras in the SUV's still?

Anonymous said...

SOOOOOOOO who is the king of Fruitland?

Anonymous said...

Joe, I will clarify some thigs for those that have questions. Fruitland adopted the speed camera resolution several years ago, since that time, they utilized a company called Red Speed that had a unit mounted in an SUV that could be moved around to various locations. Recently, the contract ended with Red Speed and bids were put out for the service. Breckford won the bid and has the same arrangement with Fruitland that there is no cost to Fruitland, but rather than a single unit, they could place the boxes in the same location as the SUV. The School Zone is a distance established by Maryland and the photo radar law was also a State bill that counties or municipalities could adopt under the states rules.

10:53 is the KING! Just does not use his name anymore! Probably got called to the carpet for his last blog posts!

Anonymous said...

Sorry to upset you 1:35, but if you referring to me, which I assume you are because I am one of the only ones that use their names when they post, I have not posted anything as of yet. I will post when I want, what I want. Who is going to "call me to the carpet" as you say for presenting factual information? I am not sure what your obsession is with me, but it is a little bizarre. I am guessing you were some of the dead weight that we have gotten rid of. I know change is tough, but at some point, one council or another has to put their foot down and do it. Many of the changes that are being made won't be directly noticeable to the residents, but in the long run, they will save us money and make things more efficient. It is the publics money that we have "volunteered" to try and watch over. I wont make apologies for doing that.

Have a pleasant day, or just be miserable. Up to you.

Lee

Anyone who may have a concern about these cameras should urge the council to address it at a special meeting, say around 11:00am during the week so no one will attend.

Anonymous said...

Or 3:54, show up at any council meeting that is at 7:30 on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Meetings during the day are generally for closed sessions, or when the need for staff on the clock may be needed. I know it is tough for you to argue issues, because facts are facts. Looks like you are going to choose miserable rather than pleasant. Too bad, life is short.

Lee (name)

Anonymous said...

3:54 the next council meeting is scheduled for August 13th at 7:30 PM at City Hall. At that time you can publicly express your concerns and get correct information. However, I am sure that won't happen as you would rather remain anonymous and hide behind this blog.

Anonymous said...

11:33 pm, now how do you suppose the city paid for the cameras. Oh hold on, wait for it. Taxes. If you live in Fruitland, your tax dollars. Remember that bill you receive about this time of year every year. And by the way, is your house on South Division Street?

Anonymous said...

The King will attend.

Anonymous said...

7:20, what part of it is no cost Fruitland are you having a hard time with? 7:31, I am sure that he will, he is yet to miss a meeting. In fact, while you were on here Friday being miserable, he was volunteering for the second day in a row cooking to help raise money for the recreation ccommittee building fund. What do you do for the community? Probably the same thing you are doing on here...nothing positive.

Oh, and I hope to see you at the next meeting, or anyone for that matter.

Lee

Anonymous said...

No its not you fool. Drive just past the little league fields going to Crown. Know what your talking about before you reply.

Anonymous said...

So, one machine (camera) is trying, judging and convicting another machine (car) and a person (car owner) is responsible for paying the penalty.

Anonymous said...

OMG, who ever this Lee guy is should step away from his computer. He seems not to care about people at all. Hopefully he isn't in a position of leadership in Fruitland or anywhere else.

Anonymous said...

The camera takes the picture, the picture is reviewed (judged) by a police officer, and yes, the owner pays the fine. If you anyone is in the business of lending their vehicle to a friend that wowouldn't pay the fine if they were caught speeding in your car, what kind of friend is that? No different than a parking ticket....the car gets the ticket.

What's a cs'er?

Anonymous said...

I knew you would not let me down! People dont get defensive unless? You cant make this stuff up! I love thin skinned politicians! See you at lunch time! Ha ha ha ha ha

Anonymous said...

Nice try 8:49...right now if yout actually know who is working for the residents and who cares you wouldnt wouldn't be making that statement. Oh, that'sit's right, you probably do and you are just a hater.

Anonymous said...

Whoever the hater on her that has posted 85 percent of these comments needs to step away. Which one are you that got fired, the thief, the drunk, or the jerk? Good luck with your next career.

Anonymous said...

8:49, how can you possibly get that from any comment that has been made? I think he made some good points and sensible comments to someone that must have a grudge. He showed more restraint than I would have, and no, I dont know him from adam.

Who is the thief, the drunk and the jerk? Name names please!

Anonymous said...

Who is the king? Name names.

Anonymous said...

Sorry...don't see anyone getting defensive. The fact is that you can't argue facts and issues. You do not worry me a bit....I will post when iI think I need to clarify something, not to Defend myself from a hater. It tears you up that I can stand behind every decision that I have made. The only thing i question is your obsession witpossibles there are 5 on the counciI. Maybe 1:53 is onto something..enjoy the rest of your day, and let me know when you want to discuss issues, rather than your pointless rederic. But we both know that is not possible because you are cluelesss.

I can take a guess at who they are talking about, but it really doesn't matter. In fact my guess is that one of them is you, or maybe you were one of the recent "write in" candidates that cried because you lost.

Anonymous said...

Like I said I knew you would have to respond! If I am such an idiot why waste your valuable time? Anf for the record I hate no one! Just like to keep thin skinned politicians on the defensive! Thats all Ihave some paint I need to watch dry!

Anonymous said...

Is it true they only capture your photo and speed as you go by them as your driving away and not as your coming towards them?
Reason I ask this is all of the pictures I have seen are of a rear view of the car.
Some states as we know do not have front tags.

Anonymous said...

Schols Zone 1mile radius from any school nursry etc..pretty much any part of town within radius is legal

Anonymous said...

Lee Outten, you need to get the work done on the roads for the county and stay off these blogs trying to defend yourself. Can't wait until the next election & you will be a goner.

Anonymous said...

Probably not, when 200 people vote in the whole town and 150 of them live in Nina Lane and the President of that home owners Association helps you campaign don't cross your fingers!

Anonymous said...

So much for Fruitland being a popular honeymoon destination.

Anonymous said...

I cant wait until the next post about Fruitland! They are always fun! Just wait until a real issue is brought up instead of a stupid Tax collecting Camera!

Anonymous said...

True indeed 12:49- We have learned that Fruitland has a King and Salisbury has a Queen.

Anonymous said...

ANON: 10:53 Quote: "BRECKFORD" won the bid and has the same arrangement with Fruitland that there is no cost to Fruitland, but rather than a single unit, they could place the boxes in the same location as the SUV." Is this the same "BRECKFORD" referenced in Joe's post, today 1:15pm????

"Their contractor, "Brekford", just got nailed for using expired calibrations in Hagerstown and Greenbelt."

So....not only is Salisbury screwing citizens...now Fruitland has followed their lead!

Joe...Thanks for the great job in uncovering this corruption....now, if only our citizens would vote these scumbags out of office!

Anonymous said...

Be careful driving through Fruitland the council has close ties to the police and I mean close! I hope this story stays in the news because I promise you there is a thin skinned politician in Fruitland who will have to reply! Thanks Joe keep up the pressure its OUR money they say they are volunteering to watch! BS same old same old except they meet at Lunch time so people cannot attend! Always a Employee issue! More BS

I live in Fruitland & love everything about it except the cost of living here. Now I guess you could call this highway robbery. Would imagine that they have been researching the most moneymaking spots for several years with the suvs & that's where the boxes have been placed. Doubt many kids will ever cross the street at either location & feel that they would have kept children safer at locations closer to the school. If you live here or visit here long enough you will realize that you really need to obey the speed limit a that's the law anyway

Anonymous said...

Stumbled across this today, what exactly has the Council done to make atleast one of you so angry? I have been to a few meetings and I really can't figure out what you are so upset about. If it is really the cameras, they have been around for years. I think you need to get a life because I have actually been happy that my water bill went down since this new group has been in there.

Anonymous said...

Anytime anybody questions the Fruitland Council we are called ANGRY! You get a life and wake up! How about your taxes they go down too! NOT!

Glad the drunk code enforcement officer is gone. He did nothing but ride around all day.
