Delaware State Police To Honor Trooper William C. Keller

Bear, DE- On Tuesday, July 30, 2013, Troopers will converge upon South DuPont Parkway, north of Red Lion Road, to pay tribute to Trooper William C. Keller, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on January 22, 1971. With the help of the Delaware Department of Transportation, a memorial sign honoring Trooper Keller will be erected at the location of the fatal crash.

Commuters should be made aware that there will be lane restrictions in that area from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 10:00 a.m.

Trooper William C. Keller died on Friday, January 22nd, 1971, as the result of a fatal motor vehicle crash. The collision occurred on US 13 at Tybouts Corner, just east of Bear. Trooper Keller, a member of the Delaware State Police drug unit, had been en route to Dover at the time. A Navy veteran, he joined the State Police in January of 1969, the fulfillment of his life-long dream. He resided in Dover with his loving wife and their one-month-old daughter. He was also survived by his parents and two brothers. Trooper Keller was just 23 years old when his watch was suddenly and tragically ended.
