Court Denies Asylum to German Home-Schoolers

A federal appeals court has denied asylum to a Christian family that fled Germany because that country does not allow home schooling.

Many American home-school families and evangelical Christians have taken up the cause of Uwe and Hannelore Romeike (roh-MEYE-kee). They faced fines and the threat of losing custody of their children because they refused to comply with Germany's compulsory school attendance law. The family moved to Morristown in 2008.

On Tuesday, the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the Romeikes do not meet the criteria for asylum.

I guess they should have come from in from our southern borders. Maybe then they would have been allowed to stay.

Home schooling is nothing but brain washing disguised as education.

2:33, are you joking? this comment is certainly laughable. again; you must be totally uneducated or government school educated. of course if you were government school educated you were brain washed by the government. my, my, my isn't that strange? to think you were brain washed by your school system...
homeschooling is the Best form of schooling there is. this was just about the only form of education prior to government schools and we did just fine with this system. we actually had very smart grads and if you go back in history you will see they were far and away ahead in their scholastic abilities than we are today.
