Mothers Of Murder Victims Testify On Behalf Of McDermott’s Bill

Tia Johnson could have been sentenced for up to 20 years in prison if Delegate Mike McDermott’s bill had been passed before Nov. 13, 2007, the day Christine Sheddy was murdered.

Johnson pleaded guilty Oct. 11, 2012 to being an accessory to murder and was given the maximum sentence of five years in prison.

“Five years is all,” said Lynn Dodenhoff, Sheddy’s mother who testified on behalf of McDermott’s bill during a hearing held by the Judiciary Committee on Feb. 19. “Five years is not enough.”

McDermott’s bill would increase the maximum penalties for being an accessory to murder in the first and second degrees. A person convicted of being an accessory to first-degree murder would be subject to imprisonment for up to 20 years, while someone convicted of being an accessory to second-degree murder would be subject to imprisonment of up to 10 years.

Wow and Mcdermott was the one who said sheddy ran away and was on drugs, at least her mom can look past that and help this bill pass

I spent a day searching for the body. Time wasted? No. Time times the number of folks who participated and helped, plus all the total police hours spent to solve the case and that money adds up to more than 5 measly years!

“Five years is not enough.” NO IT ISN'T!

I guess this is McDermott's attempt to quiet his conscience, given the way he treated the Christine Sheddy case.

I wish these young ladies especially young ladies with children of their own would not get mixed up with lowlifes. There would be a lot less murders if the victims would choose to not live a high risk lifestyle themselves.
Before anyone starts with the
"gives no right to take anyone's life" chorus-We already know that and that's all well and good in a perfect world.
Since the world isn't perfect and we only have control over what we do, then the best thing to do is to not put yourself in a compromising situation to begin with. These situations include keeping company with those considered less desirable because you can not control what they do including murdering you.

Well anonymous 11:41 what if you figured out they where lowlifes and you where trying to get away with your children but they murdered you before you could leave, is it still your fault that someone murdered you for no reason? Lowlifes are good at putting up a front of how scummy they are until they get what they want.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out when someone is a lowlife 1:47 especially Tia and Clarence and you shouldn't get involved with them to begin with for your own safety. I know where they lived and the place was a pig pen. Filthy dirty with dog crap all over the house, no running water no electricty.
These 2 never put up any fronts about how scummy they were. You would have had to be blind to not see it.
