Gov. O'Malley Aims For Tougher Gun Regulations

The governor's office is releasing more details about new, tougher gun control measures to go before lawmakers this session.

The added rules for purchasing a firearm or obtaining a handgun carry permit would become stricter, if the Assembly were to pass them.

Among the proposals the governor is offering up is a new fingerprinting requirement, the Washington Post reported.

fingerprinting is already required for a ccw permit. as well as extensive background check, interviews ect.

the good and substantial reason was struck down by the court system, but is under appeal.

Guns dont kill people.. people kill people.. you might let them un arm you and your family but myself and my family wont be..drugs are illegal but there millions dying from them.. there are more people killed every year from a kitchen knife then guns but they are still in everybody house....trying to ban guns is america way of making an excuse instead of fixing the real problem the judical system

Lets just take one item from the numerous "gun control" efforts being discussed... "high capacity" magazines. DE has introduced limiting hand guns to 10 round mags. I currently carry a 13 round mag for my .45. I would like to have more, but lets assume they outlaw my 13 round mag... I will then carry a 10 loaded and ready and carry a spare 10 with me giving me 20 rounds on hand. The process to ejecting the first mag and inserting the second mag will take me all of ONE SECOND!! HOW MANY LIVES DO THE IDIOTS THINK THAT WILL SAVE?? Magazine capicity limits WILL NOT SAVE LIVES... PERIOD!!!

Thank you 12:05 this is all just political posturing. Mexico has a total gun ban for citizens, and 57,000 have died from gun violence in the last 5 years. The moral decline of society, the breakdown of the family, psychotropic pharmaceuticals, and the drug laws are way bigger concerns. People kill people! In china there is a ban on guns and the number one cause of homicide is knives. It's bigger than the guns. They are gonna try and label gun owners as terrorists at the rate we're going. This is tiptoe tyranny. They have to erode our constitution in baby steps not to awake the masses. Everything illegal in this country currently is STILL obtainable by criminals. Banning any gun will only affect law abiding citizens who would defend their families from the evil satanists in power.

Newsflash: it won't change anything concerning killings or criminals have weapons.

it never has and never will.

It's just feel good laws to make some of you feel good and make you think you are making a difference.

You are not. And you are too dense to realize that.

You cannot legislate morality.

More people are killed with hammers than with firearms.

People cannot see the truth nor the facts because they are blinded by fear and ignorance.

Their justifications are not logical. Their speeches are not based in fact.

Recently Piers Morgan has been debunked by the 'facts' he quotes. They are simply not true.

It is hard to fight fear. It is an emotion. It will not listen to reason. It can only react.

They would rather throw out the baby with the bath water than separate fiction from fact.

And it's going to cause a lot of hurt before they see the error of their ways.

If indeed that is possible.

If there was some real punishment for those who didn't protect their own weapons from those who should'nt have weapons we might be actually doing something. We have a right to bear arms. We also have a right to protect our neighbors from a crazy relative taking our weapon and doing horible things. With great rights comes great responsibility. Lapses in such responsibility should have consequence.

There are laws on the books that address your concerns.
