State Official Wants Speed Camera Program Suspended

State Sen. Jim Brochin of Baltimore County said he has no faith in the speed cameras and he doesn't think anyone should have.

Sen. Brochin told Maryland's Morning News that "my dream would be to suspend the program."

He also said the legislation needs to be tightened up in light of recent revelations that the cameras can be inaccurate, and, that, some counties, such as Baltimore County, do not provide time stamps that can be used to prove or disprove actual speed.

you all are idiots, this camera stuff is not for making money... They can do other means to get money, trust me on that...

This is about tracking you... and everything in the photo at the time it was taken...

Here's why:
Why would the people who are in charge of the cameras and photos need to keep your picture for over 6 to 9 months? might even be a year or they don't get rid of them at all... Why do they keep photos of people who didn't violate the speed who still had their photo taken?
why don't they delete the photo after you paid the fine?

Also, why do they need two cameras in the same place looking in opposite directions when the road has no exists and can be targeted with just one camera and that one camera can target enough to get both directions?

well one reason is to stop people from vandalizing them... The other reasons are to track you... nothing else...

Here is something else that a lot of people may not realize: Think about the cameras that are mounted in vehicles. These are brand new cars and SUVs that have been purchased. For these vehicles to be sitting on government property (school grounds) they must have license plates. In order to have license plates, you must have auto insurance. Now I'm sure that since these vehicles are brand new they probably have comprehensive AND collision coverage. Add up all of these costs PLUS the cost of the equipment inside and we are talking about a TON of money! Are they even coming close to recouping theses costs? I understand that its mainly about safety, but come on! In this awful economy we cannot afford to be throwing money away, especially when most people know where these cameras are and just slow down when they come to it. Sorry, but its just my opinion.
