City Hall will open its doors at 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 to a select few couples who want to tie the knot as soon as possible in 2013.
And Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake may be among those presiding over Maryland’s first same-sex weddings, although the opportunity is open to all couples.
“The mayor was overjoyed and thrilled and excited about the opportunity,” said Mark Scurti, an attorney at Pessin Katz Law in Towson who specializes in same-sex legal issues. “The only problem we had was that at 12 o’clock she has to set off the fireworks at the harbor.”

OH MY!!! don't wanna miss this...Sheesh
Sooooo sad!!
Like, who gives a damn. I'm sure there will be 100s of people there at 12:30 AM. This is not worth media attention, but I'm sure Perice Morgan and Anderson Cooper of CNN will be there being they are sleeping together.
Why do they get special treatment? How much extra is this costing the state. Seems they cry for equal rights in everything and still want special attention.
Good point 6:49. One of the ladies(?) interviewed after MD agreed to accept license applications in DEC made the comment that she and her partner just wanted to be normal. Normal? Give me a break. Another one said that her partner didn't want to appear on camera for job reasons. Ashamed are we? She sure will be outed at the ceremony, duh!
It's not costing the state anything. It is costing US!
What was that Jesus said about judging others?
