Why Is This Being Built In China And Not The United States?

Remember when the United States was the country building world renowned landmarks like the Hoover Dam (1936), the Empire State Building (1931), the Golden Gate Bridge (1937), the Chrysler Building (1930) and the Willis Tower AKA Sears Tower (1973)?

Notice the dates.

We sure don’t seem to be building ‘em like we used to, do we?

Now, read this story and ask yourself a simple question: Why isn’t this happening here instead of in China?

According to its engineers, this will be the tallest skyscraper in the world by the end of March of 2013. Its name is Sky City, and its 2,749 feet (838 meters) distributed in 220 floors will grow in just 90 days in Changsha city, by the Xiangjiang river. Ninety days!

It’s not a joke. According to the construction company, the skyscraper will be built in just 90 days at the unbelievable rate of five floors per day.
It’s hard to believe, but they claim the building has been designed by some of the engineers who previously worked at the Burj Khalifa. It is also the same firm that built a full 30-story hotel in 15 days—which yes, is still standing and in perfect working condition.

Foundation work is beginning at the end of the month, once the Chinese authorities give the final go ahead to the project.

Most of those listed were financed by the government. Norquest would never allow the congressmen under his control to vote to fund that large of a project with tax money.

Here in Salisbury we can't even fund a 2% raise for the folks that are actually working away from their families today, on Thanksgiving. Why would anyone think we could fund any sort of project that would be considered worthy of international praise?

It's not being built here because it's not needed here. We are not a third world country (China is, at best, a "developing" country). We already have infrastructure. We are the USA. We have nothing to prove. It would be stupid to fund a ginormous project just to show how awesome we are. And if there was a real need, a private entity would take it up.

I can tell you why it is not being built here in the US.

Because of the many US, State, & local governmental regulatory barriers. In many respects, China is light years ahead of us and the field of construction is one of them.

While our country quanders to find its identity, China is planning a mission to Mars. Once the US transitioned from a republic to a socialist structure - we were finished as a nation.

Between, the endangered mosquito, to the displaced mole, here in the US a construction company will never be able to get a permit to construct such structure.

Once anyone looks at the Balance of Trade graph of the US - you'll soon come to realize that it is over for us as a nation. Once we became a service oriented society - the technological edge was thrown out the door.

It would take years to get the permits so it's not worth the hassle. With our existing Government there are just to many restrictions

Because we don't need one?

This is the second time I posted this, but it didn't pass muster the first time, I guess.

I mean, in our economy and with so much empty residential and retail space, need we build more to be vacant? Is this a good idea?

I think not.
