NBC Forced To Apologize

NBC forced to apologise after ill-timed ad features a monkey doing gymnastics - right after showing Gabby Douglas' gold medal victory

  • More woes for NBC after it shows ad featuring monkey doing gymnastics, right after Gabby Douglas' big win
  • Commercial was for Animal Practice - an upcoming NBC sitcom
  • NBC says 'no offense was intended' with the ad
  • She's now an international celebrity after taking gold in all-around gymnastics competition on Thursday

NBC has become the centre of a race storm after airing an ad featuring a monkey performing gymnastics, right after showing the performance of Gabby Douglas, the first African-American to win Olympic gold.
The network has since apologised for the advert's poor timing, explaining: 'No offense was intended.'

Not a fan of NBC, but that spot was produced long before Douglas won her medal, and where commercials are plugged into programming occurs days before, too. A coincidence that people with no lives want to blow out of proportion.

NBC has slipped up just a few too many times.Someone is either asleep at the wheel or doing various things intentionally.I hope another network carries the next olympics.

More proof that the liberal media is racist.

NBC also disenfranchised Gabby's father who is in the military--he was in the audience. The nasty comments about her hair were primarily from other African American women FYI.

Please correct the spelling in your title. Makes you look ignorant

Changed it just for you 11:35. Now can you email the source of the story and ask them to change it also. :)

Gabby is a wonderful bright talented and motivated teen. She is an inspiration to every child of every nationality. She is the embodiment of the USA spirit. Our founders must be appalled at all the haters in the world. One question, when a person is so full of hate they have to write a HATE COMMENT..... does that make you feel all warm and fuzzy ? Or does that make your HEART RATE SOAR? CLUE: HATE WILL SHORTEN YOUR LIFE and eliminate so much joy. Do you really have time for so much drama? Don't waste your time telling me to go hug a tree. I bet I outlive a hater!

most all posters here are defending NBC, but just think what the response would be if this same ad had appeared on FOX. The uproar would have been huge.

1248-Exactly! Had this happened on a Fox station, you wouldn't have heard the end of it, and I wouldn't have been suprised if the President made a public remark about it. But since it was NBC, it's a-ok.

NBC = nothing but crap.

this has been this way for many years. if you still watch and trust these people, you do so at your own risk. deception is ugly and those who are deceived are a sad lot.

I’d like to feel sorry for NBC for coming under such a plainly false accusation of racial intent. Except it’s what NBC does to others all the time, including when dealing with Mitt Romney:

NBC is run by Democrats...wake up America!
