Equality & Dignity Are On The Line

Yesterday was a day for Maryland’s children. It was a day for human dignity. After years of hard work, we signed a bill into law that protects individual civil marriage rights and religious freedom equally. Yesterday, we came together as One Maryland and showed that there is more that unites us than divides us.

But while we celebrated yesterday, today, we need to refocus and continue the fight for marriage equality. Why? Because even before we signed the bill into law, the opposition started their fight to bring the issue to referendum.

Make no doubt about it, this issue will go to referendum and the other side will have the money and resources to fight against it. We can stop them but we need to start early. Join me and donate $10, $20, $50 or even more to protect human dignity.

I wish I could tell you that we've won the battle; that our State is more just today than it was yesterday. I wish I could tell you that the bill has been signed into law and that all of Maryland's children will now be protected equally. But the reality is, there are enough people who oppose equality, that the future of marriage equality is in jeopardy.

We need to continue telling our stories, explaining to our neighbors and friends why this issue is important and working to ensure the dignity of every individual. We need to keep explaining how this legislation provides some of the nation's greatest protections for religious organizations.

We need your help. Please consider donating $10, $20, $50 or even more today to help the fight for equality tomorrow.

If there is a thread that unites the story of our people, it is the thread of human dignity; the dignity of work; the dignity of family; the dignity of every child's home; the dignity of every individual.

It's time to refocus. Equality and dignity are on the line.

Every little bit helps. Please consider donating whatever you can today.

Thank you,

Martin O'Malley

How is a 'marraige' between a man and another man equal to a marriage between a man and a woman?

I'm gonna donate, alright.. to the cause to overturn this law. I'll donate my time to collect signatures for the referendum and donate money for advertising to throw this "law" out in November.

Where doe's the 10, 20, or 50$ go? They pass a law against the will of the majority of the people, and then ask us for funding for a law we didn't want in the first place. What a bunch of meat heads in Annapolis.

Just another issue being shoved down the throats of Christians. What's next? I think Christians are being discriminated upon more than any other faith in this country today.

1:53 Please don't speak for all Christians a lot of us think this is the right and fair thing do do.

304pm......May God himself strike you dead. No Christian would ever support destroying the sanctity of marriage, created and bonded by his word. The joining of 2 men or 2 women is an abomination in Gods eyes.

In the picture the whiteheaded man to O'goofballs left is senate pres Mike Miller If memory serves me correctly this cowardly POS allowed this bill to be voted on, which he could have stopped, and then voted against it. I guess he wanted to tell his constituents that he voted against it hoping they are dumb enough to reelect him And being thay are democrats he has a good chance they will.

304 is DEAD wrong! 402 you are absolutely correct. God will have the final word on OMalley and 304. And all of those who choose to snub their noses to God's Word. Our nation is becoming Sodom more every day.

Pushing gay marriage is part of the plan to destroy traditional values of marriage, childrearing and living a life of morality and service. We are experiencing the subtle Christian holocaust. Mirroring the downfall of the only other Republic--Rome. Some day they will be digging up artifacts from "ancient America" the last Republic of record. Thank a Democrat for what is happening.

Sodomy is wrong. It is a behavior disorder. There has been cultural taboo against the unclean act for all of human history. A curse and perversion on our State.

Why do they have to "fight" the referendum? All they kept on saying was how the majority of MD voters wanted this so if that's the case the opponents will never get enough signatures to begin with.

The web site below is taking names and addresses of individuals interested in signing the petition AGAINST gay marriage.

So why would the governor support a bill that the majority voted against three consecutive times? MONEY. Not so much in the marriage department but a divorce, even uncontested will be costly. Who reaps the financial benefits of a divorce...the state and attorneys. No doubt in my mind O'Malley has a bean counter running the numbers for him and telling him how much money the state is losing by not allowing same sex marriage.
Even more offensive is the Maryland tax law that does not consider stay at home moms to be working. My wife takes care of 5 children and is too damn busy with that to go out and get a "job" so that we get the dual working credit on the state tax form.
Vote him and everyone else out!

Man, there are some ignorant haters on here. Lots of stuff in the Old Testament about more things than homosexuality. According to some of those books of the Bible, many straight people should have been put to death by now for what they have done. It's funny how some people live to hate. God's taking notes on that too.

12:22, i don't think anyone that speaks against the homo lifestyle hates anyone.

it's a lifestyle that's against God, against man and against nature. it's a perverse, dirty way to live. The bible speaks clearly against this lifestyle in both the old and new testament. God actually calls it an abomination.

God doesn't "hate" anyone, but He makes clear what is sin. Most christians don't "hate" anyone, they hate the sin.

we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. this is why God sent His "only" Son to live, die and then be resurrected. Jesus did this for us so we could call on Him for forgiveness and ask Him to then "change us" forever.

Homos, just like straights can be forgiven in the same way, but sin is sin and no man will see God without repenting of their sin and following the One who died for them.

christians aren't perfect, just forgiven. everyone has the same opportunity to accept Jesus and be forgiven and go forward and follow the One who saved them. there is NO other way for eternal life.
