little by little starting today. we've "downsized" or decorating and just have 2 small trees, a few decorations around the rooms and use color for our decorations. it still looks very nice but is much easier on the "golden agers".
we love Christmas and want to keep it that way; not a burden. we try to continue to remember "the reason for the season". sure keeps everything in perspective. just give and blessings to all.
In my humble opinion I think everyone is rushing the season. I believe you should at least wait till Thanksgiving is over. But some of the retail stores had Christmas decorations up before Halloween. I really think that was to early. I think they believe if they decorate early they can make the Christmas season longer and make more money. But people aren't stupid and they don't want to think about Christmas at halloween.
I take down my Halloween decorations the weekend after Halloween. I wait one week and then start with Christmas decorating. I work on it Saturday and Sunday. I turn them on Thanksgiving night after dinner is all over. However we seem to add to it every year so I turned them on last night but still have more to add this weekend.

About a week before Christmas is plenty early for me.
A little at a time beginning the week before Thanksgiving.

I usually wait until my wedding anniversary and birthday have past - both or in early December.
When it suits me...have to be in the 'spirit' and that means waiting until at least December
