Woman Robbed In Parking Lot of Concord Mall

Location:

· Concord Mall (parking lot in area of the Barnes and Noble book store), 4737 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE

Date of Occurrence:

· Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.

Victim:
· 72 year old female

Suspect/Suspect Vehicle:

· Black male, 30-40 years of age, 5’09”-5’11” tall, 165 lbs, average build. Last seen wearing dark pants, light colored jacket, unknown type baseball cap.

· Suspect vehicle described as a tan medium sized sedan with Pennsylvania registration

North Wilmington- Delaware State Troopers are investigating the robbery of a woman that occurred in the parking lot of the Concord Mall, this afternoon.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at approximately 2:00 p.m. as the 72 year old female was walking to her car in the parking lot of the Concord Mall, in the area of the Barnes and Noble book store. The victim had just placed items in the rear seat of her car and closed the door. The victim was approached by a male suspect that exited a tan sedan type vehicle that was parked in the area. The suspect forcibly pulled the victim’s purse from her shoulder breaking the strap, and then knocked her to the ground. The suspect fled in the tan sedan with the victim’s purse that contained an undisclosed amount of cash and personal property. The victim suffered minor cuts and abrasions from the incident, but declined medical treatment.

“Troopers remind the public to be aware and alert of their surroundings in parking lots. Scan the area around your car as you approach it and look for suspicious persons or activity. Return to the store or to a public area if anyone looks or acts suspicious. Call 911 if any suspicious persons or activity is observed.”
