Fruitland Police Department Press Releases 10-26-11

DATE & TIME: Saturday October 22, 2011 at 1815 hours

INCIDENT: Theft

On the above date and time a Fruitland officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by the defendant for having an obscured registration plate. Upon further investigation, the officer learned that the registration plate being displayed had been reported stolen to Salisbury Police. The officer also learned that the defendant did not possess a valid license as his privileges were suspended and revoked. The defendant was placed under arrest and was transported to WCDC without incident.

INCIDENT: Prescription Fraud

CHARGES: Attempt to Obtain Prescription by Fraud

On the above date and time Fruitland officers responded to Apple Drugs regarding prescription fraud. Upon arrival, the defendant was located in a vehicle in that area and a traffic stop was conducted. The defendant was found in possession of the fraudulent prescription as well as other non prescribed narcotics. The defendant was also learned to be a fugitive from the state of Delaware, where he failed to appear in court on similar charges related to fraudulent prescriptions. The defendant was arrested and transported to WCDC without incident. The defendant is being held without bond pending extradition to Delaware.

On the above date and time a Fruitland Officer observed a vehicle operated by the above named defendant travelling southbound on S. Fruitland Blvd and driven in a manner that caused the officer to be concerned for the safety of the defendant and others as the vehicle repeatedly left the roadway and reentered in a reckless manner. Upon contact the officer detected numerous signs of impairment that led to the defendant being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Incident to his arrest, the defendant was found in possession of multiple types of Controlled Dangerous Substances. The defendant was released to WCDC without incident.
