Signing an agreement valued AT THE TIME of $84,000,000.00 you'd think ANY Joe Citizen would see the red flag where the lawyers put in the $1,000,000.00 liability clause in the contract. Secondly, when questioning the system from the beginning, REALIZING we do NOT live in Florida, the system just wasn't going to work here on the Eastern Shore, you can't pass YOUR decision off as your just being citizen legislators. You screwed up by the tune of $160,000,000.00 and that ain't no chump change. A $14,000,000.00 Fire Station and a $900,000.00 Fire Boat, plus the sale of an old Fire Station including two waterfront lots for $100,000.00, no Gary, no matter how much sympathy you think you might have gotten in votes, there's no way the citizens would be stupid enough to re-elect you and you knew it.
Far too many people were challenging pretty much every one of your decisions and you made quite a few bad ones at taxpayers expense. I'll not get into the laundry list of such. Instead I'll simply sit back with a ton of relief knowing you and your friends are now gone. Perhaps the City of Salisbury does in fact have a chance. Perhaps the old Tilghman Administration is realizing in this economy that now is not the time to continue trying to control the City from the outside and a new level headed Council can step in and start the massive recovery.
Now Folks, don't stop looking over your shoulders because they will be back. When the economy rebounds they'll be after every special interest deal there is to be had. For now, someone is puling in the reigns.
Gary will not get any praises on this Blog as he has used and abused the taxpayers and in my own personal opinion I'm glad to see the guy finally drop out and get the hell out of the way. It's now up to the taxpayers to make the proper decision as to who to elect. Keep a keen eye on who we endorse because it's going to be that important for Salisbury's future.
Spend some time with your Family Gary. Salisbury doesn't need you and will do far better without you. Folks, I do believe that ends my circle of people I've been interested in getting rid of in the City of Salisbury, (unless I missed someone). Tilghman, Webster, Jacobs, See, Rapp, Samis, Dunn, Cathcart and Comegys. Who says you can't fight City Hall!

I think its time to move forward, many of us could say something very negative about each of the council members and Mayor. Yes,we are in a mess and much has to be corrected. Yes, this county, state, and country is in a mess and must be corrected to succeed.
We must elect the right person for the job. Many times mud slinging and personal attacks cloud the issues at hand.
Coming on the heels of Louweasel's "Farewell Address" this is irrefutable evidence that SAPOA now has a slate of candidates. We know that Boda is one of them, but who are the others?
The only two candidates that we know for sure aren't part of the SOPOA ticket are Spies and Cohen. They care about decent housing and are not opposed to rentals as SAPOA will try to dupe renters into thinking (so that their chosen candidates can win). The filing deadline is Tuesday. The candidates of thoe hoping that Salisbury will stay under the control of special interests may not have filed yet and there may be more than 3 - hedging their bets.

I like how Gary said the city had SAVED money, even though they are furloughing employees. How does that work? Want to know why snow removal isn't up to snuff? Try doing it without full staff. People don't complain about services when the city is literally putting the people that provide those services out of work through furloughs and mass terminations (that have yet to be reported in any news outlets- Joe you need to get on that one- see: Teresa Gardner)
The big 'ball and chain' of debt that is wrapped around the neck of nearly all Salisbury property owners has not gone away.
Paul Wilber informed our City Council that Salisbury cannot bond anymore money for the WWTP because Salisbury has reached its debt limit. So - what we have are some evading council people who have left the problematic condition unresolved. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Salisbury defaults as the municipal crisis starts to uncork.
Stay tuned folks - it's going to get interesting.

Here is just a partial list of SBYnews accomplishments:
1. Salisbury Waste Water Treatment Plant - (almost beyond your imagination in exposing polution of Wicomico river, run-a-way controls, outrageous spending)
2. Polution and zoo animal statistics at the Salisbury Zoo.
3. Corruption of the 10th degree in the Fire Department - (unimaginable defects at the new firehouse, run-a-way expenditures - (i.e. gym with eliptical treadmills etc.) - purchase of million dollar fire boat.
4. Selling surplus properties - (Old Firehouse at ridiculous low price to the detriment of Salisbury taxpayers).
5. Unbelievable crime statistics whereby Salisbury - IS THE MOST DANGEROUS CITY IN AMERICA.
The list goes on and one.
Great job to Joe and company. Keep it coming.

In Ocean City newspaper, they are getting fireboat with estimated cost of $375,000 to $600,000. Why does Salisbury need such an expensive boat?
Palmer and Ireton were buddies from the first time Ireton was on the Council and resigned.
You know, looking at this picture makes me think--pasting Gary's pic on Boss Hogg's body is an insult to Boss Hogg. I don't think Boss Hogg was as slimy as Gary.
Having said that, I am sorry that he has cancer and is sick, and I truly hope that he gets better soon. It is a horrible disease that I wouldn't wish on anyone, even my worst enemy. Speedy recovery, Gary. Thank you for your service, though I think you did far more damage than good.
Hence Louweasals decision to resign. She could save face by resingning first, but she was at least smart enough to know she couldn't hold up without Gary cause we all know Shanie is not her own person, either. Nobody's saying Campbell and Cohen are perfect, but they have been right far more often then they have been wrong.
They do their homework and I'll still take their opinions over that useless attorney the city has.
This is a scary election because only three have filed that I've heard of - Cohen, Spies and Boda. I don't like Boda because he said nothing in the last election that didn't sound like Gary Comegys or Louise Smith.
Cohen and Spies have my vote. But I will have to really pay attention to figure out who my third vote will go to. They have all been invisible and I fear geeting "louweaseled" again.

No question Salisbury was run in the ground by the one and only Boss Hogg. I tried to point a finger or two back when they were open for bids and only looking at the low ball numbers. As I talked to the GC's bidding the project there was a bet that this would fail... the bet was when it would go bust and not if.

No. All you have to do is ask virtually anyone that works in the downtown office and they can tell you how Gardner is a crazy person. She yells and screams at anyone and everyone. I'm told the Mayor is afraid of her and has said as much at flavors. You should also ask how wastewater that comes out of a pipe under the road can be partially treated since it has not yet made it to the wastewater plant. Gardner wrote this in a press release. The state is investigating.

I know what you are talking about. I have seen her in action and she is a lunatic. I have also witnessed the new fire chief in action and he is a lunatic as well. Neither one of those 2 are qualified for the positions they have been appointed to. Both departments had qualified candidates for the position but Ireton and the council screwed up by bringing in the outsiders. I haven't seen anything good or bad about the police chief so that may be a good thing.
One thing for certain is come the next election many of the city employees will be working hard to get Ireton, Campbell and Shields out of office for voting for and bringing in these outsiders. This in itself destroys the moral of quality, dedicated employees.
Now that Gary and Louise are both leaving, don't let your guard down!
The group(s) supporting these two will present new people very soon. The "replacements" have already been put in place. It's a matter of the voters being smart enough to figure it out and make sure they don't get voted in!
Keep your eyes OPEN Salisbury! Don't just vote for anyone, just because. Make an INFORMED choice or you will have not gained anything. You'll end up with a council just like the one you have now!
I'm sure we can all trust that Joe will bring out details on every candidate but it's still up to YOU, the voter to do some digging yourself!
Joe, this is important for the voters. Please keep this at the top to remind everyone what we had and what to look out for.
