D.C. Homicides Hit Lowest Level In Almost 50 Years

As the Gray Administration takes office this morning, they have some promising numbers to look at when it comes to crime. According to the Washington Times, there were 131 homicides in the District in 2010, down nine percent from last year. It’s the lowest number of slayings since 1963.

The Times reports that it is the second straight year that homicides have declined in the city and the seventh time in 10 years that the nation’s capital has recorded fewer than 200 homicides.

Police Chief Cathy Lanier told the Washington Times she believes there are three reasons for the reductions.
First, she says the department is receiving more tips and cooperation from witnesses thanks to improved community trust. She tells the Times that the city’s police tip line is recording triple the calls it received three years ago and the amount of reward money being distributed in that time has doubled.

Second, Lanier credits the department’s investment in technology. The Washington Times reports that surveillance camera networks have expanded, police are using systems that recognize the sound of gunfire and there is recently installed license plate recognition technology.

And third, the Chief says gang intelligence has greatly improved.

“We can prevent homicides,” Lanier told the Times. “We do prevent homicides. We can’t prevent them all.”

Thats because they all moved to Salisbury. DC upper level income is trying to take back DC. It has been in the works for awhile, I worked in the area for a long time.

It has been said that they are tired of commute. Piece by piece they are buying back the row houses and making them into high price Real Estate. Not affordable to low crime income.

Where do they move, to areas like Salisbury. They dont need jobs government supports crime or drugs. Keep watching, DC will be made back into a hot spot very high real estate location where government workers and business men live.

And Salisbury, just a crap hole you go around to get to the beach...

They have all come to the eastern shore.

Don't forget about the DC gun law getting tossed out(Nothing like encouraging criminals while arbitrarily disarming law abiding citizens). Also, the gentrification of DC(not that it was a bad thing for the city), but just look at PG from 2005-2010 http://www.burgersub.org/pgcomparison.htm

It has to do less with what the Police do than where the criminals frequent.

Last 2 thugs caught here were from John and Hastings streets. Rental paradise from some of Salisbury's finest scumlords.

With gray taking mayor you will def see a slow down in the gentrification of the city, And with the gov slowing down on hiring people and even slashing jobs you will see less and less new white people moving into the city. And hopefully it will be taking back.

Washington D.C. has one of the most advanced thinkers in America running the show. His views always reflect "The Common Man of D.C." and he has been quoted on crime statistics in D.C..

"The contagious people of Washington have stood firm against diversity during this long period of increment weather." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"I promise you a police car on every sidewalk." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"If you take out the killings, Washington actually has a very very low crime rate." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"First, it was not a strip bar, it was an erotic club. And second, what can I say? I'm a night owl." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"Bitch set me up." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"I am clearly more popular than Reagan. I am in my third term. Where's Reagan? Gone after two! Defeated by George Bush and Michael Dukakis no less." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

"The laws in this city are clearly racist. All laws are racist. The law of gravity is racist." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC

Now if that isn't intellegence personified, then my names not Daffey Duck.
