The Wicomico two step.
I do not like the current mayor but I have to give this guy credit going after sapoa and the old mall knuckle heads. I love this story. Those out of towners thought they would jump on our Lilly pad and make a killing and do a quick flip to a national builder. Even with a huge government hand out this goes to show that no deal is 100%.
My wife and I were just talking about how bad the Old Mall property looked a few days ago.
I informed her that now since the County has purchased a significant portion of the property that - in fact - it was now legal for the County to let the property look like hell whereas before - it was the owner that was being held responsible and thus illegal.
However, if you go out to the Airport and look at that mess - (weeds growing through the main parking lot and hangar areas) - the Old Mall doesn't look so bad.
If I were the County Executive I would fire the person responsible for maintaining the Wicomico County Airport.
Joe . . please go visit the airport and take a look at that mess. People arriving into Salisbury - Ocean City Airport must think we are the slum of Maryland.
The City should also issue a Citation for the Wicomico Airport. When I flew into Salisbury yesterday I had fight my way to get into my car.
Weeds are growing everywhere and the grass is also uncut.
The internet will ultimately keep most of us honest.
I remember reading about the weeds growing rhampantly at the airport last year. This problem seems to be a recurring issue. Does anybody knows what gives?

Is the city sure this time that it has the correct address for Salisbury Mall Associates? Remember last time, the condemnation of the Old Mall buildings, and how those fine gentlemen from SMA dodged fines and responsibility for complying with the law and taking care of their property.
We won't even go into how they, with the help of Tilgman, Comegys, Cathcart, Dunn, Shields and Wilber, bamboozled us for over $14 million.
the land deal with the county and the old mall prop. has not gone thru. the owners wanted to cut the size from 5 acres to 4.2 acres.
Well, the mayor is right in either case...the old mall needs to be cleaned up, as does the airport. Go get 'em, Mayor Ireton!

Holloway and Prettyman were right to vote against that purchase of the parking lot. They took a lot of heat for not supporting it. How's it working for the county now? Thanks Joe & Stevie. You always seem to look out for us little guys. Hope the both of you are running again this year.
Why should we have to pay for property that has been abandoned. The county should seize it!
This morning We were at Good Will and I looked at the sidewalks there and nexdat door at Advance Auto Parts, Dollar General. They smell. There is trash in the gutters by the sidewalks food spilled on the side walks. Why would any business present themselves this way. I walked into Dollar General and the floors looked as bad as the gutter. This was when they opened the door. We can do better than this. I own a business and everyday I walk the property and pickup trash,sticks etc. so as two offer a good appearance.
perfect time to condenm and take by imminent domain. all this money they have refused to pay and owe would allow the County to get this property for $1. an appraissal from a reputable person, not one of the ones involved / friends with the LLC or a GOOD OLE BOY very verify and justify this action. might even get Ricky boy reelected.

Is the airport within Salisbury's city limits? I always thought it was in unincorporated Wicomico County.
i may be wrong on this but the city might have no say on anything that goes on at the airport as it is not in city limits.. the county would have to go after that one... the old mall property may fall into the same thing if it is in fact outside the city zone and on county so then the county has go go after it

I thought the Wicomico County Airport was renamed as the Ocean City - Wicomico County Airport. In return the Town of OC was supposed to pay an annual portion for the renaming. I sure hope that Ocean City officials are monitoring the maintenance of the airport - in which case they should cease all funding. The weeds are TERRIBLE. They are growing through the blacktop parking lot, fence, they are taking over everything.
Mall is city.
Airport is county.
Airport weeds are Rick's way of saying, Repeal the Cap!
But we're an All-American City!
There is more important stuff to work on than these items. Want to pay more taxes?
