EASTERN SHORE DRIVE IS NOW SUBTITLED “PETE COOPER WAY”

In ceremony yesterday, Salisbury honored its former City Engineer and director of the Public Works Department, Phillip (“Pete”) Cooper by designating Eastern Shore Drive, which he planned, in his name. Mr. Cooper served the City for many years. If everyone gave as much to his community as he has over the years, the City would be a much different place.

That road works so much better than most in Salisbury. I wish he planned all of the others.

Don't forget your illustrious mare named a street after what we thought was his enemy, Barrie Parsons Tilghman!!

Pete, is remarkable. In August he will be 100 years young. Last fall he injured his rotator cuff, you guessed it, playing golf, a sport he did not take up until he was 80. No matter how old you are, its never too late. He still has a project every day.

Yes, with Mr. Cooper the citizens came first. Not his personal gain/1 His years of total dedication to his job was well known throughout the community.

I think it's great the street is named for Mr. Cooper; however, I also think the county stadium should have been named for "coach" Berry.

I have known Mr. Cooper for over ten years and what a fine gentleman he is. There need to be more men like him who has accomplished what he has in life and still going strong at 99! He does not boast of his accomplishments like so many people and is a true "pillar of the community". Thank you Mr. Cooper!
