WICO CHANGES ITS WEEKDAY MORNING PROGRAMMING ONCE AGAIN!

A year or two ago, WICO went to an early morning lineup that was mostly syndicated, with Michael Smerconish, a Philadelphia phenomenon, as the host. Today his program is gone from the AM station and a new syndicated program, mostly national news and topics, is the mainstay from breakfast to morning drive-time. Following the 9AM news its the lovely Laura Ingraham, as before.

The early morning segment with local discussion and guests has been shrunk even further, to about 12 minutes or so, not including ads. It seems that the local mainstream media has opted to mimic the big boys from across the Chesapeake Bay and C&D Canal. Local news and views are becoming increasingly hard to come by these days, what with the Daily Times almost deceased and the TV stations on the decline in local content – this blog tries to fill the huge gap.

I bought the dailyrag this morning and it is worst than anything i have ever read. There was maybe 3/4 items from the Wicomico,Somerset areas except the OBITS. They should list their obit to because that paper sucks. Nothing but Delaware news.

I enjoyed waking up to Bill Reddish every morning. Was he the best talk show host? No, but at least his show was local. I got used to Michael Smirconish but I wasn't impressed with him. I had a feeling he wasn't a conservative Republican. As a matter of fact he recently changed his affiliation to Independent.

Hey Michael.... SEE YA!!

WICO is on its way out.

local radio sucks. Get an IPOD

Please provide PROOF that the DT is almost deceased. Is this your anti DT hyperbole or do you have clear, concise facts to back it up. Think hard before you reject.

1:26-

If you want the PROOF, just read the rag from yesterday, today or tomorrow (if it is published).

But for all the foreclosure adds in the past year -- for which they charge an obsene amount -- the DT already would be history

2:29 Again, there is no proof. Reading it is proof? Come on stooge you can do better than that. The DT is going no where, whether you or Joe Albero like it or not. Get over the DT and go about your miserable way.

How will that help talk radio?

Oh no...the DT is on its way out??? Whatever will I use to paper train puppies with??? Say it aint so Joe!

:-D

Daily Times SUX!

I don't know anything about whether there is "proof" the Daily Times is dead or dying, but I do know that nobody on the DT staff ever proofreads the articles. The average sixth grader knows more about grammar, syntax and spelling than their editors. (If they have real editors)

Why read the Dt??? Their 'news' is old news.

I did not like the shortened local show. Terry Cohen was on today and it just seemed like they had to stop when the getting was good.

I really look forward to Mondays when she or Debbie Campbell is on.

I learned more in 20 minutes than a week of that lousy newspaper (before I canceled it).

Now it's only 10. :-(

Local news is important but the DT is not going to change its format nor go away.
WICO should give the time slot to Reddish but syndicated programs are cheaper.
This blog isn't filling the gap. It's creating a void - an intellectual void.
Debbie & Terry should have their own blog if they want to spread their version of the news.
