The Big News We Talked About Last Weekend

Three drug kingpins are among several arrested as the result of a year long narcotics investigation stretching across 3 counties and involving 21 agencies.

Early morning, Friday, January 29, 2010, members of the Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force executed numerous Search and Seizure Warrants in the Mardela Springs area of Wicomico County, Maryland as well as Dorchester County, Maryland and Sussex County, Delaware.
The Warrants stem from a year long investigation into a multi-kilogram narcotics distribution network involving the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Virginia and Delaware.

As a result of this investigation, arrest warrants were issued and numerous individuals were placed under arrest including: Jameal Rashawn Gould; Aaron Ross; and Anthony Griffin.  These three individuals were all charged as drug kingpins amongst other controlled dangerous substance violations.  Execution of the warrants resulted in the seizure of: narcotics; numerous weapons including handguns and shotguns; items from narcotics proceeds; numerous motor vehicles; and in excess of twenty thousand dollars in U.S. currency.

A press conference is scheduled at the Wicomico State’s Attorney’s Office for Wednesday, February 3, 2009 at 2:30pm. All questions regarding these arrests will be discussed at the press conference.

The Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force is comprised of members from the Maryland State Police, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, the Salisbury Police Department, and the Fruitland Police Department and was instituted to deter the growing drug problem in Wicomico County.   During Friday’s operation, the Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force was assisted by members of the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Salisbury Police Department, the Maryland State Police Barrack, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department, Fruitland Police Department, Ocean City Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Somerset County Narcotics Task Force, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Worcester County Narcotics Task Force, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Dorchester County Narcotics Task Force, Cambridge Police Department, Internal Revenue Service, Caroline County Narcotics Task Force, Georgetown Police Department, Delaware State Police, Laurel Police Department, Princess Anne Police Department and the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Whatever- we need to get government AND the police out of our homes. Obama is behind arresting these people who were just trying to make a living in an Obama economy. In stead of arresting the real crooks like Pelosi these poor local souls are paying the cost.

would this explain the numerous police officers and detectives at Mill Pond Village on Friday afternoon? Kinda shocking for this neighborhood!!

5:03 Have you lost your mind?? These people are breaking the law period. They needed to be brought to justice so that Salisbury can start being a safer place to live. If you cut off the supply of drugs coming into the area, then these thugs move elsewhere. I bet you are the first one to complain or be a dick towards an officer who pulled you over and gave you a ticket.

These were major suppliers for this area. This is a big deal and a lot of hours went into this investigation. Congrats to our police officials for doing an outstanding job. Nice to see so many police agencies working together. This is how it should have been all along.

Great job by all agencies involved! I know alot of hours went into implementing this operation. You should ALL be commended on a job well done. Get those bad guys locked up where they belong. Keep it up!

actually the reason for police at millpond was due to a burglary that ended in suicide. Joe had the blog on that the other day. By the way was anthony griffin in jail. looks like court records say he was.

thanks out to our law enforcement keep it up!! Trust me there are others out there waiting to take over where they left off. Lets make it a better place for our youth dont hesitate to call in that drug hotline. The next child they sell to could be yours....

Great job and thanks. I guess that this is obvious, but if we can get the illegal drugs out of Wicomico County then other crime will drop too. It's a no brainer...less drugs on the street less robberies, burglaries, assaults and murders.

Great job for all agencies involved. They know the players so they will be able to catch the next wave of drug kingpins waiting to take over. If you keep busting each one they will eventually leave the area. I still support Sheriff Joe from Arizona and wish our jail could follow in his footsteps. Maybe we wouldn't have a revolving door at our jail.

These guys were major suppliers please! Why because they rented luxury cars and drove them to the club.. these guys were fronting and 5:53 there are so many robberies and shootings because there are no drugs on the street

3 kingpins at once !!!!! You go boys in blue !!!!

Way to go to all law enforcement! Great teamwork on getting tough on crime and drugs! Keep it up!

Good to see the police using taxpayer resources appropriately, unlike the Salisbury Fire Dept. which had an engine at Green Turtle this afternoon for someone locked out of their vehicle. The police should investigate the Fire Dept. next for theft. SFD pads their calls for service to justify its continued pilfering of the public coffers.

Somerset County Sheriff's Office was also a key agency helping out.

You don't have to write most of your post in CAPS to get your point across. Please stop yelling!

While I'm certainly glad to see these arrests, it remains to be seen if these people will get put awayor whether they'll get a slap on the wrist or even let off due to some broken procedure during the arrest or afterward.
