This Friday will be Chief Allen Webster's last day in charge of the Salisbury Police Department. There were numerous robberies once again yesterday in the Salisbury and surrounding Towns. Crime is on the rise and help is on the way??????
As of this Friday Chief Webster relinquishes ALL powers and now it's a waiting game to hear from Mayor Ireton as to just what he's going to choose to do to fill in this position.
I can't help but mention to each and every one of you, Gary Comegys, Louise Smith and Shanie Shields refused to support the firing of Chief Webster and within their own Press Release it was clear the Citizens who voted these three individuals into Office failed to listen as clearly as Chief Allen Webster did by agreeing to step down.
It's time for some very serious changes within the City and the Politicians who refuse to hear our voices.
Mind you, Salisbury News asked for Mayor Tilghman to step down, Mike Dunn, Lynn Cathcart, Jim Rapp, Carrie Samis, John Jacobs and ultimately Chief Webster. Mission Accomplished! While I have been sued and challenged by some, all have moved aside for others to come in and take over. YOU CAN FIGHT CITY HALL AND WIN!
We'll never have perfect harmony but after last week's broadcast on "The Joe Albero Show" it's clear to me that Chief Webster saw what we presented and like a man he has agreed to move aside and allow someone else to come in and take charge. I also believe the polls we provided through the "Today's Survey Question" also helped Chief Webster to make that final call. My hat is tipped to him for doing so.
We need to back Mayor Ireton and be supportive of the next Chief of Police.

As long as the Charter is changed or a contract written that requires the new officer in charge live in the city limits and can be fired for any reason or no reason at all by either the people, the mayor, or the Council. His rank rating must be lowered from the present level that made it impossible for him to be fired.
Why is Ireton rescinding his charges for Webster's insubordination -- did the Court reverse its ruling that Webster was wrong?

Joe, keep pointing out that the three council knucklheads draggd us through this hell. How many people had to get mug, shot, raped and killd because of them and their worthless cheif?
Webster dropped his lawsuit and I see why. He is screwing the tax payers worst by going out on 66 2/3tax free. That will equal a greater payoff than the lawsuit would have and no expense to him. I said he should have been fired and this proves it. He can hold the cell phone to his ear the complete time he is driving around, go hunting and fishing when he wants with a severly injured shoulder that prevents him from conducting his job duties. Now says he is going out on an on the job injury to his shoulder. If he can hold a weapon to his shoulder to hunt or cast a fishing rod, ther is no part of his job description that he can not preform. This is definitly a case of a fruadulant claim. I know what I would do so I will wait and see how it plays out.
What we do is, is sit back and watch crime continue to rise. We havent brought in new jobs, we havent stopped the high dropout rates in local schools, we havent eliminated drug and gang activity. The unemployable ratio of ppl here is incredibly high. Hence the reason most local businesses dont drug test, they cant in order to man their local business. There are tons of problems here that end up being reasons for the high crime, reduce these problems and crime goes down. The main problem is that most local ppl refuse and deny these issues even occur. Its swept under the rug just like the REAL crime stats and occurrences. This place sucks, plain and simple. If you want change, move. There are so many better areas in this country. I know I will one day.
I have to say that Ireton knew what he was doing in this situation, he had to act carefully to avoid Webster lawsuit success. Who Ireton chooses next will speak volumes. Thank you for the MILLIONTH time to Cohen and Campbell, the two most courageous councilwomen andprotectors of the little people!!!
Citizens of Salisbury...you have won a small battle, don't lose sight of the two larger wars!
Come election time, remember those in city management who supported this chief and his policies, those who refused to listen to public outcry's, who waited until there was innocent blood in your streets.
The larger battle is against the criminal element that has become entrenched in this town. Criminals should fear society, not the other way around! Partner with law enforcement, report suspicious activity, take responsibility for the safety and security of your neighborhood, your town.
You have the ability to take back your community, now is the time!
So how long will you allow the new chief the excuse that he's busy cleaning up Webster's mess before you claim he's not doing a good job? Whomever gets the position will not clean up crime the way you think it should be.
For 9:05 - you have a good point...except look at what the county did to their auditor...no reason and now no-one will take the job as they could be fired for looking cross-eyed at anyone on the county council.
We may need to back Ifton on what he chooses to do about Chief of Police and I will support him to a certain extent - provided he does not select one of Webster's cronies, and provided he does not give any consideration to any suggestions that Comegys, Smith or Shields may have for his replacement.
We need a new Chief and new prosecutor who instills fear in would-be criminals. "O" tolerance!
My guess is he'll have Shanies support on his choice....mind what I say.

Interesting that the chief is going out on retirement, in lieu of being relieved of his duties. There was no way for the Mayor to fire him outright without cooperation of the council, but it WAS possible to make him so ineffective and miserable that he'd have quit. Oh well. Enough is enough. Having said that, it would be a good thing to take this time to consider merging county with city police forces. I'd vote for that.
