Pavement & Rehabilitation Project in Newark

Funded by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act

Newark
-- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that motorists will encounter daytime lane closures beginning on Monday, July 13 and ending mid-September for the repaving of three roadways in Newark. These closures will occur from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekends may be used as a make up day. This project is funded through President Obama's landmark American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA). This project and other ARRA projects are revitalizing Delaware's economy by preserving and creating jobs.


This pavement and rehabilitation project will impact these locations:

Monday, July 13 through Friday, August 14
* Main Street in Newark from railroad crossing tracks to the Maryland state line
* New London Road from Covered Bridge Lane to the Maryland state line

This project will also include Americans with Disabilities Act curb ramps, pedestrian signalization, and loop detection replacement at the following intersection:

*Route 273/Nottingham Road at Casho Mill Road/Delren Drive

No work will be permitted to conflict with the following City of Newark events:

*Food & Brew Festival on Saturday, July 25
*Firemen's Convention & Parade on Saturday, August 1

After this work is completed, the contractor will begin milling and paving at Greenbank Road from Old Capitol Trail to Route 41.

Motorists are advised to use caution and expect lane shifts.

A-Del Construction Company submitted a bid of $1,040,112.55, the lowest of six bids received. Construction is expected to be completed within 60 calendar days, pending weather.

Pavement & Rehabilitation Project Route 20/Hardscrabble Road

Funded by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act

Seaford
-- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that American Infrastructure-MD Inc., will begin a pavement and rehabilitation project on Route 20/Hardscrabble Road from Kaye Road to East Trap Pond Road in Seaford beginning on Monday, July 13. Motorists can expect delays and lane closures from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturday work hours may also occur to make up time for inclement weather or other delays. Construction is expected to be completed within 45 calendar days, pending weather. The contractor submitted a bid of $1.4 million, the lowest of six bids received.

This project is funded through President Obama's landmark American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA). This project and other ARRA projects are revitalizing Delaware's economy by preserving and creating jobs.

On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This legislation provides over $140.9 million for Delaware's transportation infrastructure. It will stimulate Delaware's economy by creating or supporting transportation-related jobs and making long-term improvements to our roads, bridges, and transit systems.
