Tobacco users pay enough taxes already. This is merely a strong-arm tactic by the federal government to keep us safe from ourselves. If I choose to smoke in my OWN home or vehicle,it is my right. The state taxes on tobacco are already too much, now the feds want to get a piece of the action too?
Why not raise alcohol taxes to mett deficits?Alcohol kills at least as many people annually as smoking does,as well as the "added benefit" of destroying families through alcohol addiction. All they are doing is increasing the potential black market for cheap smokes.
I would suggest my fellow smokers contact their Congressman and let him know how they feel about paying even more....
