Virginia Governor Northam Increases Corrections Budget In Anticipation Of Jailing Gun Owners

As if Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s wholesale attack on law-abiding gun owners wasn’t enough, the disgraced public official and his Michael Bloomberg-bought allies in the General Assembly now want the state’s hard-working taxpayers to foot the bill for their unconstitutional schemes. The budget bill (HB30) includes an appropriation of a quarter million dollars to carry out a host of gun control measures that Northam and his anti-gun allies hope to enact.

The $250,000 is appropriated to the Corrections Special Reserve Fund in order to provide for the “increase in the operating cost of adult correctional facilities resulting from the enactment” of Northam’s gun control measures. Among the enumerated laws that this allocation is meant to fund is a ban on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms, the criminalization of private firearms transfers, and gun confiscation orders issued without due process.

Aside from the insult of forcing law-abiding Virginia taxpayers to pay for the diminution of their rights, the gun control allocation is a severe waste of resources. Northam’s Bloomberg-backed gun control measures will not make Virginia safer.

Colleges Are Lowering Standards to ‘Improve Diversity’

Colleges nationwide are lowering their standards for testing and curriculum requirements in order to boost “diversity” on campus.

The implication of their efforts is that students from certain racial and economic groups would not be able to get in on their own merits.

A report from Campus Reform explained that Stanford is pushing an entirely separate physics course for minority students to ensure “retention” by those students. The new, segregated, course they offered is a modified version of the standard one — but with more time, “learning assistants” and extra help with coursework.

Iowa Principal Removes Pizza from Class Party to Promote ‘Fairness’

A middle school principal in Des Moines, Iowa, has come under fire for his decision to end one classroom’s holiday pizza party because it would not be “fair” to students in other classes.

According to a report by the Des Moines Register, Brody Middle School Principal Thomas Hoffman is facing intense criticism after he personally removed pizzas from a classroom that was preparing to have a holiday party.

The students had been told at the beginning of the school year that they could earn a pizza party if they met certain requirements. After the students earned their reward, the teacher order pizzas for her classroom. Upon hearing of the pizza party, Principal Thomas Hoffman stormed into the classroom and took the pizzas back to his office. Before he left the room, Hoffman told the students that he never approves pizza parties.

In a Facebook post, parent Neil Erickson, whose son was in the classroom, explained what happened on the day of the party.

"My son attends Brody Middle School here in Des Moines. His class earned a pizza party that I believe the teacher paid for. He has been excited for this for days…telling me about it and how they earned it. Well today was the day. The pizzas were delivered to the class…the teacher paid and signed the receipt. Principal walks into the classroom and says “I never approve pizza parties” or something to that affect. He took the pizzas from the kids and let them sit in the office for the teacher to pick up after school.

"Now my son and his classmates lost the party they worked hard to earn and the pizza I’m sure is wasted now…and the teacher was left in tears. I just cant believe it!"

Hallmark bullied and threatened in name of tolerance

The Hallmark Channel controversy is only the tip of a far-left iceberg over the bullying tactics of radical homosexual activists.

The family-friendly channel, which is especially known this time of year for its sappy Christmas movies, at first apologized for airing an ad that featured two lesbians kissing only to apologize for its apology when homosexual activists bombarded it with complaints.

Anne Paulk of Restored Hope Network says Hallmark wisely listened to their core audience but then Big Gay pounced.

“What they did in consenting to the audience's needs angered the gay community,” she says, “and GLAAD, of course, was going to stand against that.”

Paulk says the bullying is a direct result of the Obergefell ruling, the Supreme Court decision in 2015 that redefined marriage across the country.

“The result of that decision is having the impact that it's meant to have,” she says, “which is forcing people to go along with endorsing homosexual marriage or they will be shunned, banned, persecuted in some way.”

US on high alert for possible ‘Christmas gift’ missile from North Korea

U.S. officials are on high alert for signs of a possible missile launch from North Korea in the coming days that officials have referred to as a “Christmas gift.”

A significant launch or nuclear test would raise the end of North Korea's self-imposed moratorium on missile launches and tests. It would also be a major blow to one of President Trump’s major foreign policy goals to get North Korea back to the negotiating table to eliminate its nuclear weapons.

Earlier this month, the North conducted what U.S. officials say was an engine test. Experts believe it may have involved an engine for a long-range missile.

Two Reasons Pelosi Will Probably Delay Impeachment Until After the Election

Honestly, before I thought this through, I figured the idea that Pelosi would actually hold articles of impeachment indefinitely was farfetched. In fact, it's possibly unconstitutional, but until the courts determine that, let's assume for the moment she can do whatever she wants. As much as I’m sure she wants to get it over with and move on to other things, like trying to take credit for the USMCA, it’s become clearer to me that Pelosi has primary political motives to do this.

She’s hoping Democrats win back the Senate and is pulling a Merrick Garland

Democrats are still sour about Mitch McConnell not taking up Barack Obama’s third Supreme Court pick after the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. That strategy was a huge gamble on the outcome of the 2016 election. Is Pelosi thinking she can hold on to the articles of impeachment indefinitely, waiting for the possibility that Democrats could, at the very least, take back the Senate? They won’t likely get the 67 seats required to throw Trump out of office, but, if Trump is reelected but loses the Senate, they would be able hold a Senate trial with rules set by Chuck Schumer, and probably get a majority of votes to remove Trump from office. A simple majority won’t change the result, but to say Trump was impeached and had a majority of senators voting to remove him would be something attractive to their base to point to and damage Trump’s political capital in the event of reelection. Having a majority of senators voting to remove doesn’t sound much like an acquittal, does it?

FBI investigating Jeffrey Epstein 'facilitator' Ghislaine Maxwell

The FBI is investigating Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite and longtime associate of dead financier Jeffrey Epstein, as part of its investigation into the sex offender and his enablers.

The bureau has focused on Maxwell and unnamed others who may have “facilitated” Epstein in his alleged scheme to exploit underage girls, according to Reuters. Epstein was accused of raping dozens of underage girls over the years, and Maxwell has been accused of helping groom some of Epstein’s victims. Maxwell has denied these claims, and the FBI has not accused her of committing any crimes.

The whereabouts of Maxwell, 57, are unknown. The youngest daughter of British publisher and fraudster Robert Maxwell, she moved to New York after her father’s death in 1991 and became Epstein’s on-again, off-again girlfriend, eventually becoming his alleged right-hand woman. Prosecutors described Epstein’s yearslong efforts to “entice and recruit minor girls to engage in sex acts with him” and to build a “vast network of underage victims” when they arrested him in July.

WATCH: Employees fight back against shoplifters attempting to steal $16,000 in jackets

Employees of a men's clothing store retaliated against a handful of shoplifters after they thought they could casually walk into the store and take thousands of dollars' worth of winter coats.

"They marched into the store in single file, dancing and making light of what they were going to do," Alan Gibeley, the owner of the store Giblees, told the Boston Globe on Friday. "Like, 'we’re going to take your coats, and there’s nothing you can do.'"

Footage shows a group of people walking single file to the back of the store to swipe 16 Canada Goose jackets worth an estimated $16,000 collectively. "These jackets are 80 feet from the door," Gibeley said. "They were brazen enough to walk through the entire store."

Virginia gun ‘sanctuary' leaders urge resistance to gun laws, compare to American Revolution

The clash in Virginia over gun control has reached a new level, with proponents of a gun “sanctuary” movement urging active resistance to Democratic proposals in Richmond, citing the arguments that led to the American Revolution.

“Resistance to illegal and unauthorized government acts is not new,” said two leaders of the movement in noting the decisions by the Founding Fathers to sign the Declaration of Independence that challenged Great Britain and King George III.

“This doctrine is, in fact, foundational to our form of government. Indeed, the Declaration of Independence is a document of interposition, between the American colonists and a tyrannical King George III. Its signatories — the people’s representatives — pledged to one another ‘our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor,’ believing that they most likely would be tried and executed for treason against the crown,” said the new memo from the Virginia Citizens Defense League and the Virginia-based Gun Owners of America Inc.

The international nonprofit organization, previously known as Reporters Sans Frontieres, also said the United States "should cease" its plans to charge Assange under the Espionage Act in a statement published Friday.

"We are alarmed by the current state of Julian Assange’s health, and call for his immediate release on humanitarian grounds," said RSF secretary-general Christophe Deloire. "Assange is being targeted by the US for his journalistic-like activities, which sets a dangerous precedent for press freedom. The US should cease its persecution of Assange and drop the charges under the Espionage Act without further delay.”

These are the best states for the middle class

If you’re considering a move somewhere that’s better for the middle class, you should probably look to the Midwest, according to one report.

Last month, SmartAsset published a report that found which states are the best for the middle class.

The financial technology company found that of the top 10 best states, six are in the Midwest. However, the top two states on the list were a bit farther West.

For its report, SmartAsset defined the middle class as being “households earning between $35,000 and $100,000,” the study said.

Liberal PAC features 'regretful Trump voter' who didn't vote in 2016

An allegedly 'regretful' Trump voter in Pennsylvania, highlighted in videos by a Democrat political action committee and by The New York Times, never actually voted in 2016.

News organization JET 24, an ABC affiliate, found after checking county voting records that Mark Graham of Erie County, Pennsylvania, did not vote in the presidential election three years ago.

Mr. Graham is featured in videos funded by America Bridge, a Democrat PAC, as part of a $5 million advertising campaign in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.

In an ad, Mr. Graham states, “I voted for Donald Trump in 2016 because I thought he would make a change.” But he laments the change was “not for the good,” and complains that the president “plays favorites for people like himself … he doesn’t understand life around here.”

He was also featured in two New York Times articles about dissatisfied Trump voters and swing voters.

Alex Marlow: ‘Fake Indian’ Elizabeth Warren’s Ancestors Actually Fought Indians

Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow spoke to young conservatives at Turning Point USA’s fifth Student Action Summit in West Palm Beach, Florida on Sunday, where he called out Democrat presidential primary candidates and their disastrous policy proposals.

Among those included was Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and her proposals regarding healthcare, as well as lying about her own ancestry for decades.

“Not only is she a fake Indian, her ancestors rounded up Cherokees for the Trail of Tears,” said Marlow. “She’s a direct descendant of militia Indian fighters who fought the Seminole tribe.”

As previously reported, Warren’s great-great-great grandfather is said to be Jonathan Crawford, who had apparently “rounded up Cherokees from their family homes” and “herded them into government-built stockades” in what is now Chattanooga, Tennessee — the point of origin for the Trail of Tears.

Understanding Why There's No FBI Whistleblowers Outlining Institutional Corruption

To understand why there’s no-one in the administrative mid-tier of the FBI acting in a whistle-blowing capacity requires a background perspective looking at the totality of corruption. The institutions are protecting themselves; and yes, that protection applies to the internal dynamics.

Former DAG Rod Rosenstein was dirty. He might not have started out dirty, but his actions in office created a dirty mess. Rosenstein facilitated the McCabe operation against Trump during the May 16th, 2017, White House FBI sting against Trump with Mueller. Rosenstein also facilitated the special counsel (writ large), and provided three scope memos to expand the corrupt investigation of President Trump. According to the inaction of AG Bill Barr, we’re not allowed to see those authorizing scope memos.

Additionally, despite knowing the Trump investigation held a false predicate, Rosenstein signed the 3rd renewal of a fraudulent FISA application. Worse yet, even if Rosenstein was caught up by corruption around him, he did nothing to stop the fraud once identified.

Why is Rosenstein a key inflection point? Because Rod Rosenstein recommended current FBI Director Christopher Wray to President Trump. POTUS then allowed Wray, as he does all department heads, to select his deputy – Wray chose David Bowditch.

Judge Rules Against Stacey Abrams' Group, Allows Georgia to Clean Voter Rolls

When it comes to elections, Democrats like to cheat. That's why Democrats oppose any reasonable measure that might make it more difficult for Democrats to steal an election. Recently, the state of Georgia announced that it would be removing from its voting rolls around 309,000 inactive voters who have moved out of state, whose addresses were undeliverable or who haven't voted since 2012.

Democrat Stacey Abrams -- who ran for governor of Georgia, lost and still hasn't conceded -- founded an advocacy group called Fair Fight Action that opposes such reasonable measures aimed at protecting the integrity of our elections. The same people convinced that Russia is meddling in our elections want to secure the ballot box with nothing more than the honor system. Fair Fight Action filed an emergency motion in an attempt to stop Georgia from cleaning up its voter rolls.

In a ruling on Friday, a judge decided that Abrams' group was improperly asking the judge to interpret state law and said the group failed to prove anyone's constitutional rights would be violated as a result; and that any voter registration erroneously canceled could simply be restored within 24 to 48 hours, according to the defense.

Deplorables Versus The Ruling Class: A Global Struggle

Consider the age of monarchs. Squabbling barons select a supreme ruler – a king or an emperor -- to suppress the squabbling. Peace and prosperity return to the land. The king makes policy but he can’t do everything. His minions take care of the details.

Minions mean bureaucracy. The bureaucracy grows. The king grows old and dies. The dynasty continues. The bureaucracy continues – always continues, and always grows. The bureaucracy becomes an establishment kingdom unto itself. The bureaucracy grows in power and serves its own interests. The king diminishes in power. The land grows restless under the increasing regulatory tyranny and taxes. Legitimacy – what the Chinese called the “mandate of heaven” - is lost and so is the dynasty.

Change the names and we are at the end of a similar cycle – a cycle that began with the guillotine. This time it is a world-wide cycle. The modern king is a modern tyrant – Stalin, Hitler, Mao were the worst.

The socialist idea had been kicking around since the 18th century. This seemingly plausible notion shaped the various Marxist evils of the 20th century. The Soviet Union, Mao’s China, Nazism, Fascism, and today’s imperious European Union, are all socialist tyrannies of one degree or another.

Baltimore Breaks City Record for Killings Per Capita in 2019

Baltimore broke its annual per capita homicide record after reaching 342 killings Friday.

With just over 600,000 residents, the city hit a historically high homicide rate of about 57 per 100,000 people after recent relentless gunfire saw eight people shot — three fatally — in one day and nine others — one fatally — another day.

The new rate eclipses that of 1993, when the city had a record 353 killings but was much more populous before years of population exodus.

By contrast, New York City, with more than 8 million residents, had 306 homicides through Dec. 15.

The total is up from 309 in 2018 and matches the 342 killings tallied in 2017 and 2015, the year when the city’s homicide rate suddenly spiked.

A statement from Baltimore police said officers were dispatched late Thursday night to a location on Pratt Street, where they found a man with gunshot wounds. A police spokesman said the man died from his wounds at a local hospital early Friday.

Donald Trump Jr. Tells Story of Woman Yelling at Him in NYC Restaurant

But what happened next was not at all what Trump Jr. had been expecting.

“I’m at this restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan,” explained Trump Jr., “and I’m sitting there for 90 minutes being like, ‘Okay, who’s it going to be?’ Meaning, which jerk is going to go for their Instagram moment to try to do something ridiculous or insulting — and so, being a fighter, you sort of anticipate it.”

“So I’m sitting there, and I’m thinking that literally every human being in this room is giving me side-eye,” he continued. “We pay our bill. We’re walking out, and this older lady gets up, and she goes, ‘You!’ and I mean loud. The whole restaurant looks over.”

“This old lady gets up, right in my face,” said Trump Jr. “The whole restaurant is now looking, and I’m thinking, ‘Great, now I just gotta take it.'”

Trump Jr. went on to tell what the woman said next:

US Judge to Halt Latest NC Voter ID Mandate

Republican attempts to require photo identification to vote in North Carolina are being thwarted again by judges hearing arguments that the mandate is tainted by bias that would deter black and Latino residents.

Unless the upcoming preliminary injunction is successfully appealed, the requirement will be halted until a lawsuit filed by the state NAACP and others is resolved.

The actual reasons for Biggs issuing the injunction — and whether the legislature could pass a law altering the rules to resolve her concerns — won't be known until the formal order is released.

Two Possibilities in Trump Wiretapping, and Neither Is Good

The report of the I.G.'s findings on the use of FISA in the FBI Crossfire Hurricane investigation is an outrage. As a 22 year FBI Agent, I have personally conducted multiple investigations using both Title III "wiretaps" and FISA-authorized intercepts. From this perspective, I can only see two possible interpretations of the actions of the FBI and DOJ. Either scenario should anger and frighten every fair minded citizen who takes the time to read the report and understand its implications.

To comprehend the magnitude of the wrongdoing, consider the following:

First, an American citizen, Carter Page, was targeted by our government for electronic surveillance under FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act). Per the Act, his Fourth Amendment guarantee of privacy was judicially "suspended" to allow law enforcement to intercept and monitor his private communications. Ostensibly, the FISA court would allow this intrusion based on presented facts that indicated that Page was participating in an activity that was reasonably considered to be a threat to national security and was, in effect, the agent of a foreign power.

According to the I.G., the determination to surveil Page was based on second hand information provided by a member of a friendly foreign government and bolstered by reporting in the "Steele dossier". Accepting the subjective judgement that the investigation was adequately predicated does not mitigate the disaster that followed.

Despite Falling Rates, 70% Of US Homes "Unaffordable" To Average American

The general trend of torrid housing market growth fueled by low interest rates and a tight supply continued largely unchanged during the last quarter of the decade, as most expected it would. Though buyers who have struggled with highly unaffordable home prices in recent years did see a bit of a respite.

On Wednesday, Attom published its Q4 2019 report on home affordability in the US. The report showed that the dominant trend of the past few years was still very much in place. To wit, the median home prices in the fourth quarter of 2019 were unaffordable for average wage earners in 344 of 486 - or 71% - of the counties analyzed in the report.

To be sure, some slight progress was made: the figure was down from 73% in the prior quarter, and 75% during Q4 2018.

Hard-boiled eggs recall expanded in deadly listeria outbreak

Almark Foods has expanded its recall of hard-boiled eggs to include products sold at stores nationwide, including Costco, Walmart, Kroger and Trader Joe’s.

The company first issued the recall Dec. 20 after the Food and Drug Administration linked the eggs to a listeria outbreak that killed one person and caused illness in several others.

The expanded recall, announced Monday, now affects all products manufactured at Almark Foods’ Gainesville, Ga., facility.

The affected products have a “Best If Used By” code starting with a “G,” indicating they were made at the Gainesville location. The recall includes hard-boiled or hard-cooked eggs sold under brands such as Egglands Best, Great Day, Giant Eagle, Kirkland Signature, Kroger, Great Value, Lucerne, Simple Truth Organics and ShopRite.

San Franciscans, Inundated By Feces, Now Want To Ban Paper Cups

First they came for the straws. Then they came for the disposable water bottles. Now San Franciscans, in the same city inundated by public feces and urine, are banning paper to-go cups in order to save the city from the environmental apocalypse.

Fox Business reports, “A growing number of coffee houses in San Francisco are banishing paper to-go cups and replacing them with everything from glass jars to rental mugs and BYO cup policies. What started as a small trend among neighborhood cafes to reduce waste is gaining support from some big names in the city’s food and coffee world.”

Some examples: the restaurant Atelier Crenn will eschew using to-go bags or disposable coffee cups next year; the Blue Bottle coffeehouse chain, which uses 15,000 to-go cups a month at its 70 U.S. locations, has stated it will “show our guests and the world that we can eliminate disposable cups,” and Starbucks has plans to test recyclable cups next year in San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Vancouver and London.

WaPo Columnist Rips Rachel Maddow For Hyping Steele Dossier

A columnist for The Washington Post blasted Rachel Maddow for her coverage of the infamous Steele dossier on Thursday, saying that the MSNBC host engaged in “a pattern of misleading and dishonest asymmetry” in her reporting on the salacious document in the nearly three years since its publication.

“As part of her Russianist phase, Maddow became a clearinghouse for news increments regarding the dossier,” writes Post media columnist Eric Wemple in his fifth installment in a series reviewing the media’s coverage of Steele’s dossier.

Wemple took on the project in the wake of the Justice Department inspector general’s (IG) report which undercut key aspects of the dossier, authored by former British spy Christopher Steele.

Kevin Spacey accuser dies by suicide day after actor posts 'kill them with kindness' video

A prominent Kevin Spacey accuser died by suicide on Christmas Day.

Ari Behn, 47, was married to Norwegian Princess Martha Louise between 2002 and 2017 and accused Spacey of groping him under a table at a Nobel Peace Prize event in 2007.

"It is with great sadness in our hearts that I on behalf of the very closest relatives of Ari Behn must announce that he took his own life today," Behn's manager Geir Hakonsund told Norway Today.

This marks the third Spacey accuser to die in 2019. In May, Linda Culkin, who accused Spacey, 60, of sexual harassment, was killed when she was struck by a vehicle in Massachusetts. In September, an anonymous massage therapist who accused Spacey of sexual assault died in the middle of a lawsuit against the actor.

Berlin’s NYE comes in two editions

Thousands of residents and visitors can ring in the new year, and the new decade, next Tuesday in downtown Berlin with two ball drops.

Ivy Wells, Berlin’s economic and community development director, said the festivities started about seven years ago. It’s since developed into a popular town event.

“It started small, and it was also for locals who didn’t want to drive on New Year’s Eve, but wanted to come down and celebrate with their neighbors, and their friends, and then now it’s [grown] into such a large event,” Wells said.

There are two opportunities to partake in the holiday’s free festivities: the kids’ and adult ball drops.

‘Catch and Release Is Over’: Border Apprehensions Drop for Sixth Month in a Row

Enforcement actions at the U.S.-Mexico border fell again in November, marking six consecutive months of declining apprehensions.

Customs and Border Protection enforcement actions totaled 42,649 in the month of November, according to data obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation. The data—which is a combination of the 33,510 arrests and 9,139 inadmissible aliens at the border for that month—show a 6% decline from October.

The Department of Homeland Security celebrated the latest numbers, and pointed to policies undertaken by the Trump administration as the root cause.

“The president’s strategy to address the historic flood of Central American family units illegally crossing the border has worked. And, thanks to the policies President Trump has implemented across the board, catch and release is over,” a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said in a statement obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The latest apprehension numbers indicate the swiftly waning crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, which was once overwhelmed with waves of Central American family units and other illegal aliens on a daily basis.

Trump's judges are great. He has Harry Reid to thank

President Trump has been more focused and more successful than any modern president in appointing excellent judges to the federal courts. With the help of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Trump has produced impressive raw numbers in terms of judicial influence.

Still, McConnell is not the Senate majority leader Trump should be thanking. That honor goes to McConnell's predecessor, former Democratic Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada.

Despite unprecedented, massively obstructive tactics by Senate Democrats, Trump, in fewer than three years, has secured the confirmation of two Supreme Court justices and 50 appeals court judges. In contrast, Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, in eight years each, secured just two appointees to the Supreme Court and, respectively, only 62, 61, and 49 appellate judges. At the highest levels of the federal courts, then, Trump is securing appointments at about twice the rate of his three predecessors. At the district court level, Trump has successfully appointed 132 of the 677 judges authorized by law and has an additional 42 nominees pending. In this respect, he is moving at about the same pace as recent presidents.

‘Really bad job’: Trump rips California governor over state's homeless population

President Trump and California Gov. Gavin Newsom traded barbs over the growing homeless population in the state.

Following the Democratic debate last week, Newsom blamed the president’s Department of Housing and Urban Development, led by Secretary Ben Carson, for the rise in homelessness in his state.

“Shelters solve sleep. Housing and supportive services solve homelessness. Housing first. You have a new director on the Interagency Council on Homelessness in the United States appointed by Donald Trump that says housing [comes] fourth,” said Newsom.

He added, “They’re not serious about this issue. They’re playing politics with it ... There’s been nothing but division coming and emanating from the folks at HUD and the Trump administration.”

Schools shouldn’t need school-supply Santas

Shoppers are expected to spend an average of about $500 on gifts this holiday season. Public-school teachers will likely spend as much, or more, on classroom supplies this school year.

Yet school districts already have budgeted more than $8,000 per classroom for supplies, data from to the National Center for Education Statistics indicate. So why are teachers also serving as school-supply Santas? Parents, teachers, and taxpayers deserve answers.

First, some background. AdoptAClassroom.org, a nonprofit organization that provides funding for school supplies, found that teachers spent an average of $740 each on classroom supplies in 2018, which works out to a staggering $2.3 billion in total teacher spending.

This was up significantly from just a couple of years earlier. During the 2015-16 school year, for example, teachers spent an average of $460 each on classroom supplies, according to an Economic Policy Institute analysis. Teachers in several states, including Arizona, California, Delaware, Hawaii, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, and Rhode Island, as well as Washington, D.C., spent more than $500 each that year.

Andrew Cuomo vetoes popular bill by his own party just so he can stick it to Trump judges

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has vetoed a popular state bill sponsored by a member of his own party because it would have allowed any federal appellate or district judges, even those appointed by the Trump administration, to officiate wedding ceremonies in the Empire State.

That will show the president who is the boss.

“I cannot in good conscience support legislation that would authorize such actions by federal judges who are appointed by this federal administration,” the governor said in his veto message. “President Trump does not embody who we are as New Yorkers.”

We are all about “diversity, tolerance, and inclusion,” Cuomo's note continued.

“Based on these reasons, I must veto this bill,” he wrote, adding once more in what I presume is a mistake, “Based on these reasons, I must veto this bill.”

For the record, the list of officials who can legally officiate a wedding in New York is long and comprehensive, and it includes the governor himself. State judges can officiate weddings, but federal appeals and district court judges cannot! Take that, Drumpf!

AOC accepts Tom Steyer contribution despite ripping Buttigieg and Warren for wealthy donors

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accepted a $2,700 donation from billionaire Tom Steyer, who is running as a Democrat for president, according to a 2018 filing uncovered by OpenSecrets.org.

The donation comes after Ocasio-Cortez railed against billionaire money in politics during a campaign event for Sen. Bernie Sanders last week. "For anyone who accuses us for instituting purity tests — it's called having values," she said. "It's called giving a damn. It's called having standards for your conduct to not be funded by billionaires but to be funded by the people."

The long-simmering tension between Democratic hopefuls boiled over at the sixth Democratic debate in Los Angeles in December, with Buttigieg and Warren arguing over their donor base and personal wealth. As the Democratic Party attempts to coax working-class voters, candidates have tried to diminish the role that big money plays in their campaigns.

IG Report Reveals Steele Funneled Claims Through John McCain After FBI Dropped Him

Late Senator John McCain provided disgraced former FBI chief James Comey with five separate reports from Christopher Steele that the FBI didn’t previously possess related to unsubstantiated allegations of collusion between Russia and President Trump’s 2016 campaign, the Justice Department’s recent Inspector General report revealed.

There have long been questions about why it was necessary for McCain to pass Steele’s anti-Trump dossier to Comey on December 9, 2016, several weeks after the November 2016 presidential election. By then, Steele had already met numerous times with FBI agents to provide them with his controversial reports. Steele, however, was terminated as an FBI source in the fall of 2016 because he spoke to the news media.

The IG report discloses that McCain gave five new Steele reports to Comey that the FBI did not previously possess, showing that McCain served as a conduit for Steele’s information to reach the FBI even after the British ex-spy was formally cut off as an FBI source.

It is not clear whether McCain knew at the time that Steele had previously been terminated as an FBI source.

'Furious': Elizabeth Warren's brother rips senator for calling their father a janitor

David Herring, brother of Sen. Elizabeth Warren, said he is "furious" to learn the Massachusetts Democrat called their father a janitor on the campaign trail.

“According to a family friend, David has disagreed with the way Warren calls herself the daughter of a janitor as she describes the work he found after losing a job as a salesman after his heart attack," the Boston Globe reports.

Speaking with a family friend, Herring was adamant that his father was a maintenance worker, not a janitor. "My Dad was never a janitor," he told the Globe.

Warren has referred to her father as a maintenance man in the past but has used the term "janitor" while on the campaign trail.

Amazon refuses to help probe into driver stealing packages

A sheriff’s office in Florida said it caught an Amazon driver stealing a customer’s package but got no help from the company during its investigation.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday in a statement that it had arrested 27-year-old Jose Campos after detectives tracked down the vehicle he was using from homeowners’ association video and video from the Davenport, Florida residence where the package was stolen.

Detectives had initially contacted Amazon at its logistics center in person, but they were told they needed a subpoena before the company would help them, according to the sheriff’s office.

A loss prevention manager told detectives Amazon would not cooperate with law enforcement and identify their driver unless the sheriff’s office served a subpoena for their records at their corporate headquarters in Delaware, according to the statement from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

“I’m not surprised by much anymore, but this lack of cooperation from Amazon floors me,” said Sheriff Grady Judd. “This is just irresponsible on their part.”

My Semester With the Snowflakes

In May of 2019, I was accepted to the Eli Whitney student program at Yale University. At 52, I am the oldest freshman in the class of 2023. Before I was accepted, I didn’t really know what to expect. I had seen the infamous YouTube video of students screaming at a faculty member. I had seen the news stories regarding the admissions scandal and that Yale was included in that unfortunate business. I had also heard the students at Yale referred to as “snowflakes” in various social media dumpsters and occasionally I’d seen references to Ivy League students as snowflakes in a few news sources.

I should give a bit of background information. I was an unimpressive and difficult student in public schools. I joined the military at 17 and spent close to 26 years in the US Navy. I was assigned, for 22 of those years to Naval Special Warfare Commands. I went through SEAL training twice, quit the first time and barely made it the second time. I did multiple deployments and was wounded in combat in 2009 on a mission to rescue an American hostage.

Every single day I went to work with much better humans than myself. I was brought to a higher level of existence because the standards were high and one needed to earn their slot, their membership in the unit. This wasn’t a one-time deal. Every time you showed up for work, you needed to prove your worth.

Michael Avenatti was at least $15M in debt during Nike extortion case, prosecutors say

Attorney Michael Avenatti was completely underwater with personal debt in the time frame during which he was accused by Nike of trying to extort $25 million.

Avenatti, 48, has been accused of trying to extort Nike by demanding $25 million for him and his client in exchange for his silence about alleged illegal branding deals. Nike maintains that there were no such deals taking place and turned Avenatti in to the authorities for attempted extortion.

The attorney, who became a household name while representing pornographic actress Stormy Daniels, pleaded not guilty, triggering a trial that will take place on Jan. 22. During a pretrial hearing to decide which evidence the jury can see, prosecutors claimed that Avenatti owed “conservatively, in excess of $15 million” to former clients, law partners, attorneys, and his ex-wife for spousal and child support.

The Voter Purge Myth

Maggie Haberman, the esteemed New York Times reporter, recently tweeted out a Mother Jones article to 1.2 million followers. It was titled: “GOP-Led Voter Purges in Wisconsin and Georgia Could Tip 2020 Elections.”

The chilling piece warns readers that “hundreds of thousands of voters are set to be purged in two key swing states,” which “potentially” gives Republicans “a crucial advantage by shrinking the electorate” in those states.

None of this, of course, is true. Cynical pieces of this genre, an election-time tradition at this point, only allow Democrats to warn of widespread disenfranchisement and preemptively give aggrieved Democrats such as Stacey Abrams a baked-in excuse for losing elections and smearing Republicans.

How many people who fall for these claims understand that both federal law and state law mandate the updating of voter lists?

In Georgia, we already know that hundreds of thousands of “voters” were not purged, because at least 62% of registrations that were canceled recently by the state had surely moved away or died. Either their mail was returned as undeliverable or they had officially changed their address to a different state.

Our broken immigration system encourages using ‘recycled’ migrant children as smuggling pawns

For the past six years, across two administrations, young children have been used and cast aside by adults posing as their parents to cross the southern border and enter our country.

These adults use children as pawns to create “family units,” guaranteeing them eventual release into the interior of the United States. I witnessed this firsthand as a member of the White House Security Council’s Human Smuggling Cell during the Obama administration, when I documented adults posing as parents crossing with young children that were not their own.

Last August, Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin K. McAleenan, went on record to document this issue:

Franklin Graham: Christianity Today Editorial Used to ‘Divide’ Evangelicals

Tuesday, during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends First,” Samaritan’s Purse President Rev. Franklin Graham offered his view on Christianity Today’s editorial supporting impeachment and proclaiming President Donald Trump unfit for the presidency.

Graham, whose father Billy Graham founded the magazine 60 years ago, dismissed the editorial as one from a left-leaning magazine that would have disappointed his late father.

“This magazine — this left-leaning magazine, my father did start 60 years ago but is so far removed now from what my father founded the magazine to be,” Graham said. “And for them to say the president should be removed when he has done more for Christians and evangelicals than any president in my lifetime, I just find it to be crazy. The man’s just lost his mind.”

“[F]or Christianity Today to suggest that he should step down, why?” he continued. “What he’s done so much for our country, just because this is what Nancy Pelosi and a few people on the left want,” he continued. “And this magazine is following in step with the leftist agenda. My father would be very disappointed. My father actually had nothing really to do with this magazine for the last 25, 30 years.”

Graham argued the mainstream press were using the editorial to divide the evangelical community for political purposes.

Washington Post Hacks Into Chevy To Show How Much Cars Are Spying On Owners

The Washington Post hacked into a Chevy Volt several days ago with the help of a automotive technology expert to find out just how much automakers are spying on their owners and discovered that vehicles are recording their owners’ every move.

The Post used a 2017 Chevy Volt for its experiment and learned that the car collected a wide range of highly precise data ranging from the vehicles location to information about the driver’s cell phone, including call records — noting that many vehicles copy over personal data the moment that a smart phone is plugged into the vehicle.

The Post noted that the Chevy Volt did not inform drivers what information it was recording and did not make mention of it in the owner’s manual since there are no federal regulations protecting consumer’s privacy and data from automakers.

The Post went to Jim Mason, who has a PhD in engineering and reconstructs car accidents for a living by hacking into vehicles, for help hacking into the Chevy Volt.

You'll be shocked at what he found..
