"It goes back to our failure to address the issue seriously of the Islamic State having a geographic base."

Besides not knowing specifically where the plant is, the administration would have difficulty taking it out with airstrikes because ISIS terrorists are "capable of digging underground and protecting themselves," McCain said.

Club for Growth has endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz for president, the first time conservative political advocacy group has recommended a candidate for commander-in-chief.

Agencies Blocked From Strengthening Cyber-Security

Two GOP lawmakers are blaming a federal union for undermining the efforts of U.S. agencies to bolster internal cyber-security.

In an op-ed for the Washington Times, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz of Utah, and Alabama Rep. Gary Palmer, argue last summer's hack of the Office of Personnel Management that exposed the personal data of more than 21.5 million Americans proves "federal agencies should have the full authority to act quickly to protect vital information systems."

Yet the American Federation of Government Employees prevented a federal agency from strengthening its defenses against data breaches by blocking workers' access to certain websites, they charge.

"Putting collective bargaining rights above security is preposterous," the pair write. "It is critical that Congress intervene and help make every effort to strengthen our cyber-defenses."

Ahold Delhaize Holders Approve Merger; 83 U.S. Supermarkets Reportedly For Sale

On March 14, shareholders of Ahold and Delhaize officially approved the merger of the two large European grocery chains setting the stage for a mid-year closing of the deal which was first announced on June 24, 2015.

Additionally, at its U.S, holdings, both chains are reportedly offering a combined 83 stores for sale in the Baltimore-Washington, Eastern Shore, Richmond (Central Virginia), Southern Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Lower Hudson Valley and Greater Boston markets. Those stores would seemingly represent an overlap issue for the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) which has yet to make its divestiture list public before we went to press. See list below.

Forty-three of those stores are non-union Food Lion units and nine of the stores on the reported selling block currently trade as Giant Food/Landover, which is unionized. An additional nine Massachusetts stores (both Hannaford and Stop & Shop banners) and two Stop & Shop supermarkets that are located in the Lower Hudson Valley region of New York are on the list.

Three Washington DC Students Arrested with Bomb-Making Equipment in Dorm room

The Associated Press is reporting that three George Mason University students have been arrested for allegedly possessing bomb-making equipment in their dorm room.

The as-yet unidentified students were arrested last Wednesday night after flames were seen coming from their dorm-room window. Along with drug paraphernalia, the students were found with equipment that police said could be used for making bombs.

The arrests have added meaning after today’s massive attacks in Brussels that have so far claimed more than 30 lives.

Subject: Trend: 680,000 Green Cards Issued to Migrants from Muslim Nations in Only 5 Years

The federal government issued 680,000 green cards to migrants from majority-Muslim countries from 2009 to 2013, according to the Senate Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest.

Federal data from the Department of Homeland Security shows that the U.S. issued the 680,000 green cards to migrants from Pakistan, Iraq, Bangladesh, Iran, Egypt, Somalia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Morocco, Jordan, Albania, Lebanon, Yemen, Indonesia, Syria, Sudan, and Afghanistan, among others, according to a Senate report issued in November. The individuals receiving green cards — which establish permanent residency in the U.S. — also include refugees. Immigrants from Muslim-run nations are the fastest-growing migrant bloc in the U.S.

The subcommittee notes — assuming no change in visa policy — the U.S. will issue another 680,000 green cards to migrants from majority-Muslim nations in the coming five years.

SCOTUS Backs Hunter Who Uses A Hovercraft To Track Moose In National Preserve

Hovercraft. Moose. The Supreme Court of the United States. If you think those three things are totally unrelated, well, you’re wrong. The highest court in the land ruled in support of a hunter who uses a hovercraft to track moose in a national preserve in Alaska, overturning a lower court’s ruling.

The Supremes were unanimous [PDF] in vacating a ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals that had upheld enforcement of National Park Service rules that ban the use of hovercraft, and remanded the case for reconsideration of the hunter’s arguments.

The man was piloting his hovercraft over a stretch of Nation River in Alaska that runs through the Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve, which is managed by the NPS. A hunter for 40 years, he used the amphibious vehicle capable of gliding over land and water to navigate shallow parts of the river.

Hamas Holds Massive War Drills

Hamas staged major military exercises Tuesday to test its readiness in preparation for another terror war against Israel from Gaza.

The exercises involving 1,000 police and emergency services personnel were not meant to be seen as an "announcement of war," said a spokesman for the Islamist terrorist organization's interior ministry.

For the duration of the exercises, however, a state of emergency was observed in Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya, bordering Israel in the north, and Jabalia farther to the south.

The media was barred from approaching the area, but loud explosions could be heard from a distance, with hospitals and schools placed on alert.

FDA Requires Strong New Safety Warnings For Opioids

The Food and Drug Administration said Tuesday that all fast-acting opioid pain medicines will be required to carry its strongest warning about risks, including the risks for abuse, addiction, overdose and death.

The decision to require instructions for the drugs to carry a so-called black box warning marks the latest in a series of steps by the FDA and other federal agencies to fight the epidemic of opioid addiction.

"This epidemic touches all corners of our nation and is devastating individual lives, communities and our nation," said FDA Commissioner Robert Califf during a briefing for reporters. He called the epidemic the "most urgent and devastating public health crisis facing our nation."

Subject: Teacher Charged With Sexual Abuse of a Student - Update Mugshot

Middletown, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested a 32 year old music teacher after it was learned that she was sending sexually explicit images to a male student.

The investigation began in January of 2016 after administrators of the Everett Meredith Middle School, located at 505 S. Broad Street, Middletown, were contacted by the mother of a 13 year old male student after she had found sexually explicit video and images of a female teacher on his cell phone. The school administration then contacted the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Youth Aide Unit. After further investigation, which included multiple interviews and examination of physical evidence, it was determined that the teacher, Nicole D. Veneroso, 32, of Newark, who was employed as a music teacher at the school, had begun a relationship with the male student in December of 2015. During the relationship, which continued until the discovery of the images, Veneroso had sent the student numerous sexually explicit photographs, videos, and text messages.

Veneroso was arrested by detectives this afternoon, Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Troop 2. She was charged with Dealing in Child Porn, Sexual Solicitation of a Child under 18, Criminal Solicitation 2nd Degree, 5 counts of Providing Obscenity to a Child under 18, 3 counts of Sexual Abuse of a Child by a Person of Trust 2nd Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Veneroso was arraigned at JP Court 2 and committed to the Delores Baylor Correctional Institution in default of $53,250 secured bail.

Defense Minister: This is World War III

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon (Likud) on Tuesday evening responded to the lethal Islamic State (ISIS) bombings in Brussels earlier in the day that left 34 murdered, and warned that "World War III" is looming.

"Western culture in recent years has been under an indiscriminate and uninhibited radical Islamic terror assault, whose goal is to harm and disrupt the lives of citizens of the free world," Ya'alon said. "The attacks this morning in Brussels and on Saturday in Istanbul are examples of this."

The minister determined that "the war against this terror and the attempts to disrupt the lives of citizens of Western countries obligates us to unify in a fierce, creative and uncompromising fight against its sources, its funders and instigators."

"The way to do that will be by continuing to join arms with the security and intelligence forces of states of the free world, and an understanding that this is World War III against our shared humane values. It's a war and if we don't deal with it with the proper tools, at all levels, it will continue to harm and sow destruction."

Ya'alon said that Israel "share and will continue to share knowledge, experience and intelligence with the Western states, so as to confront this terror together."

Building a Ground Army to Fight Heroin Deaths

BALTIMORE — A crowd quickly gathers here on one of West Baltimore’s many drug-infested street corners. But it isn’t heroin they’re seeking. It’s a heroin antidote known as naloxone, or Narcan.

Two city health department workers are holding up slim salmon-colored boxes and explaining that the medication inside can be used to stop someone from dying of a heroin overdose. Most onlookers nod solemnly in recognition. They’ve heard about the drug. They want to know more.

Nationwide, more than 150,000 people received naloxone kits from community outreach programs like Baltimore’s between 1996 and 2014, and more than 26,000 overdoses were reversed using those kits, according to a recent survey funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In addition, police, emergency medical technicians and emergency room physicians have used the drug to save tens of thousands of lives. Baltimore police officers started carrying the kits last year.

World TB Day is March 24th

World TB Day is observed around the world on March 24th of each year. The day is designed to build public awareness that tuberculosis (TB) today remains an epidemic in much of the world, causing the deaths of nearly 1.5 million people each year, mostly in developing countries. It commemorates the day in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch astounded the scientific community by announcing that he had discovered the TB bacillus, which is the cause of tuberculosis, a contagious disease that can affect almost any part of the body, but is found mainly in the lungs. If not treated properly, TB can be fatal. At the time of Koch's announcement in Berlin, TB was raging through Europe and the Americas, causing the death of one out of every seven people. Koch's discovery opened the way toward diagnosing and curing TB. 

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), death from TB dropped by 47% between 1990 and 2015, but TB is still a top infectious disease killer worldwide, killing more than 4,000 people each day. TB still exists in the United States, with the 9,421 cases reported in 2014 representing the smallest decline in more than a decade and the 555 deaths reported in 2013 showing an 8% increase over 2012. Maryland reported 198 cases in 2014 (Department of Health and Mental Hygiene) reflecting a decrease from the five previous years.

Elderly Inmates Burden State Prisons

CAPRON, Va. — Walter Melvin Atkinson is a bit vague about how long he has been in the assisted living portion of the Deerfield Correctional Center and how long he has left on his sentence. He claims to not even remember the crime — pedophilia — that landed him here.

At 92, “Speedy,” as he is called ironically by fellow prisoners and guards, is frail enough to require a wheelchair to get around, and his inmate caregivers rushed to his side to grab from his shaking hand a coffee mug that seemed destined to spill all over his cot. A huge, bright orange star has been sewn on to the white blanket that covers the cot — an idea the unit manager, Kathy Walker, dreamed up to help Atkinson spot his own bed among the six rows of beds in the spotless unit.

Atkinson is representative of an ever deepening trend in state corrections systems, and an ever growing problem, too. According to Human Rights Watch, from 2007 to 2010, the increase in the elderly population, 65 and up, being sentenced to state and federal prison outpaced the increase in the total population by 94 to 1.

Nearly every state is seeing that upward tick in elderly state prisoners. In Virginia, for example, 822 state prisoners were 50 and over (corrections officials usually consider old age for prisoners to begin at 50 or 55) in 1990, about 4.5 percent of all inmates. By 2014, that number had grown to 7,202, or 20 percent of all inmates.

Baltimore Struggles To Protect Children From Lead Paint

When a doctor found that Kenicer Carty's 1-year-old daughter had a dangerously high level of lead last year, it triggered an alarm of sorts. Officials sent an inspector to Carty's 1930 row house in northeast Baltimore. It turned out that every single window had hazardous chipping lead paint.

The city contracted with the nonprofit Green and Healthy Homes Initiative to replace the windows and inspect her house. They will also fix a leak in a bedroom wall and near the toilet where water pools, because moisture prompts paint to break down.

While it's all welcome help, it has been six months since Carty's daughter tested positive for lead. She hopes the girl won't suffer the irreversible behavior or learning problems that lead can cause, but she hasn't told anyone about the poisoning.

"Because I don't want people to judge," she says. "You know, we live in a society where you're labeled for just the simplest thing."

WICOMICO COUNTY YOUTH ADDICTION AWARENESS ART AND FILM COMPETITION

The heroin epidemic is a growing problem nationwide. In 2014 there were 578 heroin/opioid deaths in Maryland. In just one recent weekend, there were 13 overdoses and 3 fatalities in our county alone. When interviewed, most of the addicted in our county tell a similar tale. The users of heroin first became addicted to prescription opiate pain medication. They were prescribed the pills, or they got them at a party, or from a friend, or the medicine cabinet at home. An opiate addiction is insidious-- it grabs the user quick and then as the pills become more expensive or harder to obtain, the user switches to heroin which often times is more potent. 

We are working on getting resources to help the addicted, but our best hope is to reach the youth, to get them to understand the dangers of using and abusing prescription opiates and how abusing pills is a pathway to heroin use. So in order to foster an awareness in our community, we are reaching out to the youth to participate in this Film and Art Competition.

Fourteen at nuke base probed for illegal drug activity

WASHINGTON (AP) — Fourteen members of an Air Force unit responsible for guarding nuclear missiles in Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska are under investigation for possible illegal drug activity, including cases involving cocaine use, defense officials said Friday.

The probe is a fresh blow to a nuclear missile corps that has been under intense scrutiny in recent years for a string of lapses in training and personal conduct, first revealed by The Associated Press. The Air Force has said repeatedly over the past year that it is making significant changes aimed at lifting morale and improving performance.

Ex-State Dept worker to be sentenced for ‘sextortion’ scheme

ATLANTA (AP) — A former U.S. State Department employee was sentenced Monday to serve nearly five years in federal prison for accessing young women’s online accounts from his computer at the American embassy in London and threatening to expose their sexually explicit photos.

Michael C. Ford, 36, sent “phishing” emails to women, specifically targeting members of sororities and aspiring models. He claimed to be a member of Google’s account deletion team, which doesn’t exist, to get them to hand over their passwords, prosecutors said.

Subject: Few Women Show Interest in Infantry Jobs

Three years after the Pentagon ordered the military services to prepare to open all ground combat jobs to women, few of them have expressed interest in a career in the infantry or other newly opened positions.

As part of an experimental program, 233 women who completed Marine Corps infantry and other ground combat schools are eligible for those jobs, but none has requested a formal transfer.

The Army sees similar results. “We’re not expecting a high propensity for infantry or armor,” said Lt. Col. Jerry Pionk, an Army spokesman.

The Marine Corps initially expected about 200 women a year to enter jobs previously closed to women, including a small number in the infantry.

Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said opening the jobs would improve combat effectiveness because the military would draw from a larger pool of applicants for the infantry and other specialties.

“To succeed in our mission of national defense, we cannot afford to cut ourselves off from half the country's talents and skills,” Carter said.

Military officials said the interest among women in previously all-male jobs may change over time, citing the gradual progress in expanding earlier opportunities for women in the military. “Incrementally over time, it’s been one success after another,” Pionk said.

It remains to be seen whether this time will be different.

There are red Latin crosses on both the knight's tunic and his shield. Please see the enclosed screenshot. A white mantle with a red cross is the unmistakable attire of a member of the Knights Templar. The Knights Templar, originally known as Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ sand the Temple of Solomon, were among the most feared fighting units of the Crusades.

Teacher Charged With Sexual Abuse of a Student

Middletown, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested a 32 year old music teacher after it was learned that she was sending sexually explicit images to a male student.

The investigation began in January of 2016 after administrators of the Everett Meredith Middle School, located at 505 S. Broad Street, Middletown, were contacted by the mother of a 13 year old male student after she had found sexually explicit video and images of a female teacher on his cell phone. The school administration then contacted the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Youth Aide Unit. After further investigation, which included multiple interviews and examination of physical evidence, it was determined that the teacher, Nicole D. Veneroso, 32, of Newark, who was employed as a music teacher at the school, had begun a relationship with the male student in December of 2015. During the relationship, which continued until the discovery of the images, Veneroso had sent the student numerous sexually explicit photographs, videos, and text messages.

Veneroso was arrested by detectives this afternoon, Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Troop 2. She was charged with Dealing in Child Porn, Sexual Solicitation of a Child under 18, Criminal Solicitation 2nd Degree, 5 counts of Providing Obscenity to a Child under 18, 3 counts of Sexual Abuse of a Child by a Person of Trust 2nd Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Veneroso was arraigned at JP Court 2 and committed to the Delores Baylor Correctional Institution in default of $53,250 secured bail.

Why Did Kerry Lie About Israeli Blame?

In testimony before the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Secretary of State John Kerry performed a post-mortem on the recent collapse of the Middle East peace talks. According to Kerry, the Palestinian refusal to keep negotiating past April and their decision to flout their treaty commitments by returning to efforts to gain recognition for their non-existent state from the United Nations was all the fault of one decision made by Israel.

As the New York Times reports:

Secretary of State John Kerry said Tuesday that Israel's announcement of 700 new apartments for Jewish settlers in East Jerusalem precipitated the bitter impasse in peace negotiations last week between Israel and the Palestinians.

While Mr. Kerry said both sides bore responsibility for "unhelpful" actions, he noted that the publication of tenders for housing units came four days after a deadline passed for Israel to release Palestinian prisoners and complicated Israel's own deliberations over whether to extend the talks.

"Poof, that was the moment," Mr. Kerry said in testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Poof? To say that this evaluation of the situation is disingenuous would be the understatement of the century. Kerry knows very well that the negotiations were doomed once the Palestinians refused to sign on to the framework for future talks he suggested even though it centered them on the 1967 lines that they demand as the basis for borders.

Why? Because Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas wouldn't say the two little words —"Jewish state"—that would make it clear he intended to end the conflict.

On several of the Sunday shows, Kasich explained again what he will and will not do. He said he believes his guest worker/path to legalization plan will be accepted both by the American people and by the Congress, even though the Republican-led House rejected a similar plan in 2013.

"I think we need to finish the border," Kasich told "Fox News Sunday." "And once it's finished, people cannot sneak in. They shouldn't sneak in now. They've got to...be sent home.

"We should have a guest worker program. And for the 11.5 million who are here illegally, if they've not committed a crime since they've been here, I would give them a path to legalization where they pay a fine, back taxes, delay in any kind of benefits they get.

MS-13 Gang Killings Linked to Immigrant Surge

The notoriously violent MS-13 street gang, known for slashing victims to death with knives and machetes, is reviving its brutal brand of violence to reassert its dominance in the Washington metropolitan area — with authorities linking at least eight homicides in Virginia and Maryland over the past year to the gang.

The recent uptick in violence can be traced to a failed gang truce in El Salvador and, in part, to a surge of unaccompanied Central American children who entered the United States last year to flee violence at home, according to gang analysts.

There is concern over the degree to which MS-13, also known as Mara Salvatrucha, has exploited an immigration policy that over the past two years has allowed waves of migrant children to enter the United States.

In one of the eight recent killings with MS-13 ties, three young men were charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old in Loudoun County, Virginia. They were identified as having entered the United States illegally in 2013 as unaccompanied children who later skipped immigration hearings.

Analysts in gang intervention say scores of recently arrived Central American children make prime recruiting targets for established gangs in the region.

“They are certainly susceptible. They are new, they have very little family, they don’t know the language very well,” said Fairfax County gang prevention coordinator Ed Ryan. “They are looking for someone who looks like them, talks like them.”

Alternative Health Care Flourishes

Consumers seek solutions to either unmet needs or alternatives to a substandard product or service. A great example of this maxim is this: Participants in health care cost-sharing ministries have more than doubled in number since ObamaCare’s inception in March 2010.

From their inception in the early nineties, these organizations were growing at a rate of no more than 10% annually, until the Left weaponized the IRS to mandate the purchase of a service (health insurance).

In other words, until Obama decided to play the good liberal Samaritan — helping the sick by forcing them to buy health insurance.

The health care cost-sharing agreements in these ministries work with a monthly premium, sometimes as low as $150 per month. Individuals and families are matched with others to create a risk pool of participants who contract to reimburse medical expenses from an approved list. The patient/consumer bears the financial responsibility to shop for the best pricing and to pay for services rendered. Imagine, market-driven health care that makes the patient the customer.

Report: Saudi King Suffering From Dementia

Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, 80, is said to have Alzheimer’s or dementia, according to Lebanese media reports.

The Lebanese Al-Ahed claimed to obtain medical records of King Salman testifying that he was suffering dementia since 2008, and that the number of hospital visits in the last few months has increased and that he did not walk around, as he did before

In 2015, King Salman succeeded big brother Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz who died at the age of 90.

The report further predicted that, within next next 18 months, the Saudi king will not be able to continue his post due to his deteriorating health and inability to make political decisions.

The Saudi government is currently being administered by Crown Prince Muhammad bin Nayef.

3 Avoidable Errors That Could Upend Your Retirement Plans

As older Americans approach retirement, many may be realizing their financial planning isn’t what it should have been.

That could mean they need to postpone retirement – or abandon the idea altogether.

“Most people don’t spend much time even thinking about retirement,” says Stephen Ng, author of “10 Financial Mistakes You Should Avoid: Strategies Designed to Help Keep Your Money Safe and Growing” (www.stephenngfg.com).

“They see it as a far-off time when they will have magically accumulated the money they need to jet around the world, pay for their grandchildren’s education, or otherwise have fun.”

That leaves them unprepared for the reality, Ng says. They may need to work part-time just to get by. It’s possible they will outlive their money.

“There’s no reason to work hard your whole life, but end up without the money you could have had because you failed to avoid common mistakes people make,” Ng says.

He says three examples of avoidable errors are:

• Failing to understand taxation. Most money is taxable right away, but in some cases, such as with individual retirement accounts, taxes can be deferred. A third category, Ng says, is tax-free money. Examples of tax-free investments include municipal bonds, life insurance proceeds and 529 education savings plans. “Your goal should be to shift as much taxable money as possible into the tax-deferred or tax-free categories,” he says.
• Acting without enough specialized advice. You might assume one financial advisor could handle all your investment needs. But that’s not necessarily the case, Ng says. The strongest plans usually benefit from multiple specialists. An eldercare attorney could be helpful for those 60 or older. A certified public accountant could assist you with tax-avoidance strategies. An estate-planning attorney can help minimize estate and inheritance taxes.
• Failing to appreciate the longevity risk. Medical advances allow people to live longer, but that creates a problem. Americans today are more likely than previous generations to outlive their money. They also are more likely to need a nursing home or some other form of long-term care, which can be expensive. “It’s important to ask yourself whether you have enough money to handle expenses for as long as you live,” Ng says. “Do you have enough to cover inflation? To cover long-term care? To cover healthcare?” The sooner people address the longevity risk, he says, the more prepared they may be to live a rich life.

Ng insists there’s still time for those nearing retirement to make amends – at least to some degree – if they haven’t planned for what lies ahead.

“I can’t stress this enough,” Ng says. “It’s never too late to formulate a plan. We can’t change the past, so the time to get started is now.”

County Executive Announces Well Attended, Informative Poultry Forum

The Poultry Forum held last night at the Wicomico County Youth and Civic Center was attended by more than 500 residents. Governor Hogan’s office assembled a dynamic panel of experts on the environment, health, and agriculture who were prepared to give an overview of their responsibilities and then answer questions from the audience. The meeting lasted two hours. Two of the main concerns that the public has been speaking to the council about is the risk to the Paleo Channel and the health risks to the citizens.

MDE explained that the poultry houses are all undercover so there isn’t a risk to the Paleo Channel. A question was asked about the comparison of a multi-house poultry farm with a 20 house housing development on private septic systems and the experts shared that the housing development provided a risk due to the waste water from the septic systems. Also stated that the amount of water usage of these poultry houses is so much less than crop growing and there is no declining water level in the aquifers that service Wicomico County.

Questions about the health risks from these farms were asked and the Dr. Mitchell from DHMH stated there is no evidence of cancer clusters being caused by poultry operations. Airborne particulates can be a determent to someone with asthma but the doctor explained it is dependent on the individual and poultry operations can’t be blamed as an overall cause.

This forum was to provide factual information about health concerns and the environment. The other concerns are things involving zoning which is a local issue. The County Council has a meeting scheduled for Monday, March 28, 2016 at 10 AM to address the local issues.

This Obama Humiliation Now Set in Stone

Remember when Iranian troops seized American troops on the eve of the State of the Union address and paraded them around like a trophy? Our peace at all costs president explained that this was a rescue mission, not an act of aggression, and told us to be grateful, hoping we'd forget in a few months. For weeks, the Iranian regime shoved it in our faces, and we got to see the humiliation and terror suffered by our troops.

The American people may have moved on, but Iran sure hasn't. The rogue nation is now making the Obama Administration look even more foolish; they're memorializing the capture in stone. As the Navy Times notes:

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps is reportedly planning to erect a statue commemorating its capture and brief detention of 10 U.S. Navy sailors who cut through Iranian waters in the Persian Gulf.

"The statue is likely to be built on Kharg, a small Iranian island in the Persian Gulf not far from where the sailors were captured," according to The Telegraph, which cited Fadari's comments to Iran's Defense Press news agency.

While Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has taken to Twitter to promote anti-U.S. sentiment since the American sailors' capture, the English-language account believed to belong to Khamenei hasn't made mention of the statue. The same goes for the unverified English accounts belonging to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif.

This is another in a long line of foreign policy embarrassments for our woefully unqualified commander in chief.

Myth Busting Biden's AIPAC Speech

WASHINGTON-- Vice President Joe Biden addressed the 18,000 plus delegates at the AIPAC Policy Conference Sunday evening. Unfortunately, Biden chose to perpetuate numerous myths in his remarks.

MYTH: Regarding Iran’s nuclear weapons program, “We’re no longer dealing with hypotheticals.” Two-thirds of Iran’s centrifuges have been removed.

FACT: Two-thirds of the centrifuges inside one of Iran’s nuclear facilities, Fordo, have been removed in recent months, along with all nuclear material. According to the nuclear deal reached last year, “The facility is banned from any nuclear-related work and is being converted to other uses, eliminating the threat that prompted the attack plan, at least for the next 15 years.”

MYTH: “Under this deal, Iran will never be allowed to pursue nuclear weapons.”

FACT: According to Secretary of State John Kerry, the Joint Plan of Action will destroy the 20 percent enriched uranium. However, this is false. The 20 percent enriched uranium was going to be turned into an oxide making it inoperative. That process is chemically reversible, which allowed Iran to hold its 20 percent uranium that can be turned into active chemical reactions at any time. When the deal was announced, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said, “This is a sham from beginning to end. It’s the worst deal since Munich.” The regime itself counters Rice’s claim that Iran has not built new centrifuges. Just two months after reaching the temporary nuclear deal in November 2013, Iran’s nuclear chief boasted the ongoing construction of a new generation of centrifuges for uranium enrichment. In actuality, the temporary deal neglected to prohibit Iran from building new centrifuges.

MYTH: To deter Iran’s nuclear program, the US has allied with “reasonable partners, not just Israel.”

FACT: Biden failed to list those “reasonable partners.”

MYTH: If Iran violates the deal, the US will act.FACT: Last week, Iran launched ballistic missiles capable of striking American allies, especially Israel, in the Middle East. The radical Islamic regime stamped the weapon with a Hebrew translation of the slogan “Israel must be wiped off the face of the earth." There has yet to be a reaction from the US, such as enacting sanctions or military action.

MYTH: “My good friend President Netanyahu…”

FACT: Along with President Obama and other members of the administration, Biden refused to meet with Israel’s prime minister at this time last year. Then-Speaker of the House John Boehner invited Netanyahu to address Congress about the dangers of a nuclear Iran. Along with members of the administration, 58 congressmen (all Democrats) boycotted the prime minister’s speech.

MYTH: Regarding achieving the two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians, Theodore Herzl said, “If you will it, it is no dream.”

FACT: That statement by one of Zionism’s forefathers isn’t related to achieving a two-state solution. Herzl said that with regards to achieving a Jewish state after thousands of years of Jews persecution by European, capped by the Holocaust during World War II.

MYTH: Both sides “need to take meaningful steps” toward peace deal.

FACT: The Palestinians have rejected Israeli offers for statehood three times. The most recent offer was in 2008 by then-Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. The offer would have annexed major Israeli blocs and, in return, given equivalent Israeli territory to the Palestinians, and would have divided Jerusalem.

MYTH: The US provides Israel with “the best [military] equipment available.”

FACT: According to a report published by Cato Institute:

While bilateral defense cooperation has helped boost the Israeli arms industry, the conditions on American aid do the opposite. Since in some cases the Israeli government has to go with U.S. weapons even if the domestic products were better, cheaper or both, efficient Israeli producers lose government contracts and consequent economies of scale. Israeli companies also have to purchase American raw materials, which raise the costs of Israeli weapons in world markets.

MYTH: Regarding boycotting Israel, “To marginalize one group imperializes us all.”

FACT: Though the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) movement is bigoted, this statement is hypocritical of an administration that has shown little support for military veterans, police officers, and others who serve and protect. Last month in Commentary, Manhattan Institute fellow Heather Mac Donald wrote, “Simply put, the man [Barack Obama] twice elected to the country’s highest office routinely and repeatedly charges that cops and the courts are awash in systematic racial bias…The negative effect of such rhetoric on the morale of the police, on the perceived legitimacy of the criminal-justice system, and on the atmosphere in which police operate is incalculable. Over and over again, the commander in chief of our armed forces has told the nation’s constabulary he views them as constitutional blackguards.”

Regarding the administration’s treatment of combat veterans, this month the Department of Veterans Affairs began publishing its findings of investigations launched two years ago into charges that VA medical facilities adjusted patient appointment schedules to meet department standards. The Office of the Inspector General released 15 reports on scheduling problems at VA hospitals and clinics in Florida, Iowa and Minnesota on Monday, following complaints from members of Congress and the media that the office was sitting on the investigations, which were completed in 2014. The reports found procedural aberrations at nine of the 15 facilities investigated, but the VA inspector general noted that in most cases, patient care was unaffected and managers did not direct employees to manipulate the wait times.

This State Will Let Your Children Pick Their Bathroom and Much More

Michigan’s State Board of Education has drafted a guidance that would push the state’s schools to allow all students, regardless of parental or doctoral input, to choose their gender, name, pronouns, and bathrooms.

Spearheaded by board president John C. Austin and signed by state superintendent Brian Whiston, the guidance informs Michigan public schools that only the students themselves–i.e. not their parents or doctors–can determine what their individual gender identities are.

“The responsibility for determining a student’s gender identity rests with the student. Outside confirmation from medical or mental health professionals, or documentation of legal changes, is not needed,” the guidance states.

Gender identity is defined in the guidance as “a person’s deeply held internal sense or psychological knowledge of their own gender, regardless of the biological sex they were assigned at birth.”

What Hillary Clinton Said at AIPAC

Former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton addressed the audience at the American Public Affairs Committee’s policy conference this morning to reassure her commitment to strengthen the US’ relationship with Israel, while also taking jabs at Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.

Clinton announced one of the first things she would do in the White House, if elected, is meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. She added “Israel’s security is non-negotiable” and those who do deem otherwise “have no business being president.” Regarding the existential nuclear threat Israel faces from Iran and what she called “radical extremism,” Clinton said, “Walking away is not an option.”

Clinton took jabs at Trump and said that the US cannot be “neutral,” which is a term the GOP frontrunner has used regarding his stance on the conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians.

Clinton inaccurately quoted the stamp placed on the ballistic missile Iran launched last week, which read, “Israel must be wiped off the face of the earth." She said the stamp on the weapon read, “Israel must be wiped from the pages of history.”

The former Secretary of State said, “We cannot cede mantle of global leadership to anyone else.” She added the US-Israel relationship stronger “than the headlines try to make you believe.” Clinton called for the U.S. to provide Israel with “the most sophisticated” military equipment, despite a report published by Cato Institute:

While bilateral defense cooperation has helped boost the Israeli arms industry, the conditions on American aid do the opposite. Since in some cases the Israeli government has to go with U.S. weapons even if the domestic products were better, cheaper or both, efficient Israeli producers lose government contracts and consequent economies of scale. Israeli companies also have to purchase American raw materials, which raise the costs of Israeli weapons in world markets. This year’s policy conference consists of 18,000 plus attendees, the largest ever according to the pro-Israel lobbying group.

Border Agents: DHS Has ‘No Intention’ of Deporting Illegals

A top Homeland Security official told Border Patrol agents the Obama administration has “no intention of deporting” many of the illegal immigrants caught trying to sneak into the country, ordering instead that they be released so they don’t clog up the courts, a leading advocate for agents testified to Congress.

Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, said the orders are a new “catch and release” policy, which he said “amounts to amnesty” because it means many illegal immigrants are never asked to leave the country.

It also suggests the Border Patrol is being ordered to break President Obama’s own enforcement priorities, which say new illegal immigrants — defined as those who came after Dec. 31, 2013 — are priorities for deportation, and are supposed to be arrested and processed.

Mr. Judd said they took their case directly to Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who told them not to bother.

“Deputy Secretary Mayorkas told us that the Border Patrol needs to focus its resources towards the worst of the worst. He said that by prioritizing those we choose to deport, we will help alleviate the burden on an already overburdened court system,” Mr. Judd recalled.

Mr. Judd, in the written testimony released Monday, said agents have also been ordered not to interview the illegal immigrant children still streaming across the southwest border.

“This is verbal direction from direct supervisors and not a written policy. Agents are being told not to ask why minors are crossing,” he wrote.

“When five unelected Supreme Court judges appended sexual orientation to the 14th Amendment in the 2015 Obergefell decision declaring state bans on gay marriage unconstitutional, sexual orientation metastasized from a description of perceived sexual desires to our nation’s reigning idol,” Rosaria Butterfield said in a lecture at the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C.

“Idols seduce,” Butterfield said. “Idols demand allegiance.

“Idols steal worship from God, and idols destroy faith in God,” Butterfield said.

Butterfield, a former tenured professor at Syracuse University, converted to Christianity in 1999 and has written several books, including “The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert” and “Openness Unhindered, Further Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert on Sexual Identity and Union with Christ.”

“The Obergefell decision established into law the idea that our sexuality is inseparable from our spirit; that it captures the truth about who we really are and that to deny its expression violates the core of our identity,” Butterfield said.

Congress to feds: It’s not OK to view porn at work

Yet another member of Congress is pressing the House Appropriations Committee to get tough on federal employees who watch pornography at work.

If it weren’t for a few infamous former Environmental Protection Agency employees, this might be a solution in search of a problem. But Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) said one example is already too many.

In a letter to committee chairman Harold Rogers (R-Ky.) and ranking member Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.), Jones said language in the fiscal 2016 omnibus spending bill meant to keep feds from watching porn at work doesn’t apply to all agencies.

Jones said the porn-proscribing clause in the omnibus bill was left out of a part that outlines funding for a division of agencies that includes the departments of Defense, State and Interior.

Okay, so maybe it's really not so easy. Plenty of stores have price-matching policies, but sometimes consumers have to jump through a lot of hoops to get retailers to match their competitors' prices. Policies vary from store to store, making it difficult to know what to expect from one to another. And most are fraught with exclusions. So is it worth it to even attempt price matching?

It certainly is if you're buying a big-ticket item and the other store that's selling it for less is miles away - requiring you to give up your time and drain your car's gas tank to get there - says Louis DeNicola, who examined stores' price-matching policies for Cheapism.com. You can improve your chances of a successful price-matching outcome if you follow these tips:

Know stores' requirements. Don't assume that getting a store to match a competitor's price is as easy as showing a sales clerk your phone with the competitor's price displayed on it through an app or online search. Many stores require consumers to show a competitor's print ad with the lower price, DeNicola says. Even at stores that don't require an ad for price matching, such as Walmart, sales clerks sometimes will ask for one, he says. So before you attempt to price match, call the store or check its Web site for its price-match policy to see what proof you need of a competitor's price.

Four illegal immigrants charged in rape, beating; two were previously deported

Four illegal aliens from Guatemala are charged in the rape of a Massachusetts woman and the vicious beating of her boyfriend, and one of the suspects was arrested less than a month before the attack -- but he was not reported to immigration authorities.

Federal immigration officials have requested detainers on Elmer Diaz, 19, Ariel Diaz, 24, Adan Diaz, 32, and Marlon Josue Jarquin-Felipe, 27, following their arrests in the March 13 incident in Framingham, The Boston Herald reported. The three Diaz men are brothers.

Adan had previously been arrested for drunken driving on Feb. 22 and Ariel was arrested for drunken driving in December, but immigration officials told The Herald they were never made aware that either was in custody. Ariel was also convicted of drunken driving and disorderly conduct and sent back to Guatemala in May 2014, but he re-entered the U.S. at some point, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Shawn Neudauer told The Herald. Jarquin-Felipe was also deported to Guatemala in 2014, but managed to again cross the border to the U.S. undetected.
