Northern Va. Teen Youngest Delegate at RNC

A 17-year-old high school senior from Mount Vernon is making an impression at the Republican National Convention with what he says is a "unique message" representing young voters.

Evan Draim makes Paul Ryan, the youthful Republican vice presidential contender, look like a late bloomer — less Doogie Howser, M.D., and more Grandma Moses.

At 17, Draim is not of voting age. But he'll be 18 by Election Day, making him eligible to serve and vote as a delegate to the Republican National Convention. Of the more than 2,000 delegates slated for Tampa, Draim will be the youngest.

Wilmington- Troopers have arrested a 31 year old New Castle, DE man on weapons charges after he assaulted a Trooper in an attempt to flee from custody.

The incident occurred after a Delaware State Trooper on routine patrol was dispatched to a report of a disabled vehicle with the occupants walking on the shoulder of I95 northbound in the area of Basin Road. Upon arrival to the area, the Trooper observed 2002 Buick Rendezvous parked on the left shoulder and a subject, later identified as John N. Escobosa-31 of New Castle, and an 8 year old male child walking on the shoulder away from the disabled vehicle. The Trooper contacted Escobosa who advised that his vehicle had run out of gas. The Trooper offered to transport both Escobosa and the child from the interstate and to a gas station where they could get assistance. The Trooper explained to Escobosa that he would need to conduct a cursory pat down search prior to allowing him into the patrol vehicle, and asked him if he had any weapons in his possession, in which Escobosa claimed he had a knife. The Trooper attempted a pat down search to remove the knife from Escobosa and felt a handgun, later identified as a Smith and Wesson .380, concealed in his pants pocket. The Trooper was able to remove the gun from Escobar’s pocket, and place it on the patrol vehicle outside of Escobosa’s reach. A physical struggle ensued as Escobosa actively attempted to resist arrest and flee from the Trooper. Responding Troopers arrived and assisted in taking Escobar into custody.

Further investigation revealed that Escobosa was in possession of the Smith and Wesson .380 caliber handgun, brass knuckles, and two pocket knives. A search of the vehicle located 2 spent handgun shell casings and a police style baton.

Escobosa was charged with the above crimes and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $16,202 Secured Bond.

The Trooper received unspecified injuries as a result of the struggle and was treated at the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center and released.

The 8 year old male child accompanying Escobosa was identified by Escobosa as his stepson. The child was not injured and was turned over to relatives.

Tea Party Marylanders In Tampa Want Focus On Fiscal Issues

TAMPA, Fla. - Maryland tea party supporters will try to use this week's Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., to shift the focus away from more divisive social issues to their message of fiscal responsibility, conservative leaders said. New Mileage Standards Would Double Fuel Efficiency

The Obama administration has finalized regulations that will force automakers to nearly double the average gas mileage of all new cars and trucks they sell by 2025.

The rules mean that all new vehicles would have to get an average of 54.5 miles per gallon in 13 years, up from 28.6 mpg at the end of last year. The requirements will be phased in gradually between now and then, and automakers could be fined if they don't comply.

The regulations, announced Tuesday, will change the cars and trucks sold in U.S. showrooms, with the goal of slashing greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption. Automakers will need to improve gasoline-powered engines, and sell more alternative fuel vehicles. Critics say the rules will make cars unaffordable by adding thousands of dollars to the sticker price.

SCHOOL ALLEGEDLY ASKS DEAF PRESCHOOLER TO CHANGE HIS NAME BECAUSE SIGN LANGUAGE VERSION RESEMBLES ‘WEAPONS’

A deaf 3-year-old from Nebraska is being asked by the school district to change his name, his family alleges, because the way he refers to himself in sign language resembles “weapons.”
Apparently the Grand Island school district has a policy that prevents students from bringing “any instrument…that looks like a weapon” to school, and now hands can be considered “instruments.”

Update From Tampa

I’ve been doing conventions long enough to realize that when you don’t have the numbers, things will not go your way.

Today, we didn’t have the numbers. That is not in question.

Four years ago, the Republican Party simply handled our R3VOLUTION by slamming the door in our faces with hardly any consequences.

Today, the GOP establishment can no longer afford to employ these tactics.

Instead, they’ve adopted new ones.

Properly elected Ron Paul delegates were stripped from us. And when a motion was made to amend the Credentials Committee Report, it was ignored.

Morton Blackwell, a longtime conservative activist and RNC Rules Committee expert, found himself indefinitely detained – along with the rest of the Virginia delegation.

The RNC’s bus driver responsible for transporting delegates somehow “got lost” for well over an hour until a critical Rules Committee meeting adjourned.

Farmers’ Tractorcade Protests Cecil County Commissioners ‘Tier’ Maps, Property Rights Limits

About 20 tractors, in classic John Deere green and a few blue Fords, formed a political conga line on Route 40 Tuesday afternoon and circled the Cecil County administration building in Elkton, to protest a map adopted by a majority of County Commissioners that would sharply limit many farmers’ property rights.

It was the second consecutive day of repudiation for a so-called “tier” map adopted earlier this month by the Three Amigos faction of the Cecil County Commissioners—Diana Broomell (R-4), James Mullin (R-1) and Michael Dunn (R-3.) On Monday, the county Planning Commission rejected that proposal and instead will develop its own map, based upon the county’s Comprehensive Plan, that would still protect farm and rural areas from development but would not impose more restrictive limits advocated by the Three Amigos.

The tractorcade assembled at the old Wal-Mart site at Whitehall Road and proceeded east on Route 40, accompanied by Elkton town police and county Sheriff’s cars with flashing lights. Traffic was not delayed much as the single-file tractorcade occupied the right lane so motorists could pass. But Chesapeake Boulevard had a long backup as the tractors moved slowly toward the county building and began their circuit around the building.

Governor's Response To Change Maryland, Wall Street Journal Riddled With Errors, Falsehoods, Omissions

In Remarkable 48-hour period, O'Malley Attacks Change Maryland, Comptroller, Governors, Mitt Romney, WSJ

Annapolis
- While Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley completes a political crusade at the GOP convention to get TV exposure as an Obama campaign surrogate and in preparation for his own 2016 Presidential bid, Administration staff here at home have another agenda. Using state resources, the Administration launched another personal, partisan and political attack yesterday against Maryland’s largest citizen organization in response to a Wall Street Journal article that angered the Governor.

In response to numerous political attacks on Change Maryland, The Wall Street Journal and many others, the organization's Chairman, Larry Hogan, said, "Rather than focus on facts, the Governor once again tries to simply demean the messenger. With our lagging economic performance and record tax increases, the evidence is clear, and grows by the day, that the real aberration in American politics today is Martin O'Malley."

Human Organs Found in Florida Storage Locker

A former medical examiner crudely preserved human brains, hearts and lungs in soda cups and plastic food containers found inside a storage unit in Florida, authorities said Tuesday.

A man bought the contents of a storage unit at auction last week in Pensacola and made the gruesome discovery after being overpowered by a strange smell while sifting through furniture and boxes.

Investigators found formaldehyde, a chemical used to embalm and preserve bodies, leaking from a 32-ounce drink cup with a cracked lid that was holding a heart, said Jeff Martin, director of the District 1 Medical Examiner's Office in Pensacola. The unit had been rented previously by Dr. Michael Berkland.

We’re All Gonna Die, Might As Well Make Some Money Off It

Imagine that you, your spouse, or a beloved relative is terminally ill. A man who works for a local lawyer approaches you and asks whether your relative would be interested in a little proposition. Your relative would need to provide their name, Social Security number, and a signature or two. In return, they would receive a few thousand dollars. Sounds like an identity theft scheme, doesn't it? Only it was all perfectly legal. No families were swindled, no fake credit cards were opened. The lawyer behind this scheme was taking advantage of a loophole in the rules of a specific type of life insurance product, variable annuities. The end result was that investors used a system intended to protect a large nest egg for future generations to profit without having to die.

It was consolidating processing centers and its computerized forwarding system.

Are They Really Helping?

The federal government operates 52 programs to help entrepreneurs. But the Government Accountability Office said they aren't managed very well. A new 97-page report cites instances in which agencies agreed to coordinate their support programs but never followed through. In other cases, agencies didn't track, or failed to meet, their performance goals. GAO also found that many of the programs overlapped. Auditors looked at programs in the Agriculture, Commerce and Housing and Urban Development departments and the Small Business Administration. Together they spend $2 billion a year to help entrepreneurs with loans, grants and training.

A Comment Worthy Of A Post 8-29-12

I work fot the SFD and I thank the council for finally voting yes for the grant. No I am not a resident of the city. Yes I am a resident of the county and my taxes do fund the fire department. I also pay federal taxes and I am glad we are getting money returned to the area. Yes I would rather have the cash, but still glad to see it come back to us. I just have one question. Why do you the citizens dislike us so much. We put our lives on the line day in day out to serve you. I am sure we have come to serve you in some manner whether fire or ems. I am sure you were glad we were there and probably thanked us for coming. Then you come on here and talk so much hate toward us. I am proud to serve the city and hope you all can soon support our department. We will show that this grant was a positive step and a benefit to the city.

A Speech Every American High School Principal Should Give

By Dennis Prager.

To the students and faculty of our high school:

I am your new principal, and honored to be so. There is no greater calling than to teach young people.

I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school. I am making these changes because I am convinced that most of the ideas that have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against your teachers and against our country.

First, this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity. I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow or white. I could not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships. The only identity I care about, the only one this school will recognize, is your individual identity -- your character, your scholarship, your humanity. And the only national identity this school will care about is American.

This is an American public school, and American public schools were created to make better Americans. If you wish to affirm an ethnic, racial or religious identity through school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will end all ethnicity, race and non-American nationality-based celebrations. They undermine the motto of America , one of its three central values -- e pluribus Unum, "from many, one." And this school will be guided by America 's values. This includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language, religion, sexual orientation or whatever else may become in vogue in a society divided by political correctness.

Your clubs will be based on interests and passions, not blood, ethnic, racial or other physically defined ties. Those clubs just cultivate narcissism -- an unhealthy preoccupation with the self -- while the purpose of education is to get you to think beyond yourself. So we will have clubs that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy, languages you do not already speak, carpentry and more. If the only extracurricular activities you can imagine being interested in are those based on ethnic, racial or sexual identity, that means that little outside of yourself really interests you.

Second, I am uninterested in whether English is your native language. My only interest in terms of language is that you leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united America 's citizens for over 200 years, and it will unite us at this school. It is one of the indispensable reasons this country of immigrants has always come to be one country. And if you leave this school without excellent English language skills, I would be remiss in my duty to ensure that you will be prepared to successfully compete in the American job market. We will learn other languages here -- it is deplorable that most Americans only speak English -- but if you want classes taught in your native language rather than in English, this is not your school.

Third, because I regard learning as a sacred endeavor, everything in this school will reflect learning's elevated status. This means, among other things, that you and your teachers will dress accordingly. Many people in our society dress more formally for Hollywood events than for church or school. These people have their priorities backward. Therefore, there will be a formal dress code at this school.

Fourth, no obscene language will be tolerated anywhere on this school's property -- whether in class, in the hallways or at athletic events. If you can't speak without using the f-word, you can't speak. By obscene language I mean the words banned by the Federal Communications Commission, plus epithets such as "Nigger," even when used by one black student to address another black, or "bitch," even when addressed by a girl to a girlfriend. It is my intent that by the time you leave this school, you will be among the few your age to instinctively distinguish between the elevated and the degraded, the holy and the obscene.

Fifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem will be attained in only one way -- the way people attained it until decided otherwise a generation ago -- by earning it. One immediate consequence is that there will be one valedictorian, not eight.

Sixth, and last, I am reorienting the school toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will be devoted to scaring you about smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global warming. No more semesters will be devoted to condom wearing and teaching you to regard sexual relations as only or primarily a health issue... There will be no more attempts to convince you that you are a victim because you are not white, or not male, or not heterosexual or not Christian. We will have failed if any one of you graduates this school and does not consider him or herself inordinately fortunate -- to be alive and to be an American.

Now, please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our country. As many of you do not know the words, your teachers will hand them out to you.

The Prisoner: 'I Am Not A Number. I Am A Free Man!'

What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared we would become a captive audience. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared that we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny “failed to take into account man’s almost infinite appetite for distractions.” In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we hate would ruin us. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us.

~ Neil Postman, Amusing Ourselves to Death (1985)

Thus goes the strain of thought in two of the great prophetic minds of literature, not so much opposed in their rationale as intertwined like the serpentine strands of DNA. The relevance of Aldous Huxley and George Orwell lies in their fears, which in recent years are being actualized at an accelerated pace.

Like the automatons of Orwell’s 1984, our glazed eyes have melted into the television screen. Recent statistics, for example, indicate that approximately 1 in 7 or 42 million Americans cannot read a newspaper or even the instructions on a pill bottle.

Unprecedented Power: An Executive Order All Americans Should Know About

Texas Insider Report: Washington, D.C. – Fourteen days ago President Obama issued an Executive Order that you should know about. This order gives an unprecedented level of authority to the President and the federal government to take over all the fundamental parts of our economy – in the name of national security – in times of national emergency. With all that is going in Washington these days, some things don’t make the news the way they should.

As President & Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, he has the Constitutional authority to issue Executive Orders. And while similar orders have been made before by presidents from Eisenhower and Reagan to Clinton and George Bush – it has never been done to this extent.

This means all of our:
Water Resources
Construction Services & Materials (steel, concrete, etc.)
Civil Transportation System
Food & Health Resources
our Energy Supplies, including Oil & Natural Gas
even Farm Equipment – can be taken over by the President and his Cabinet Secretaries.

Tea Party Marylanders Want Focus On Fiscal Issues

TAMPA, Fla. - Maryland tea party supporters will try to use this week's Republican National Convention to shift the focus away from more divisive social issues to their message of fiscal responsibility, conservative leaders said.
But both locally and nationally, social issues continue to compete for the spotlight with the election's top issue: the economy.

At the state level, Maryland tea party groups said they are focusing their efforts on defeating several social issue referendums on the Nov. 6 ballot, including legalizing same-sex marriage and allowing some undocumented immigrants to pay in-state college tuition.

Meaningless Words In Politics

As we enter the fall political season, we will hear a great deal of rhetoric from both major political parties and their many candidates for office. It’s important for us to remember, however, that words can be made meaningless by misuse or overuse. And when we as citizens allow politicians to obscure the truth by distorting words, we diminish ourselves and our nation.?

For example, we’ve all heard politicians use the words “democracy” and “freedom” countless times. They are used interchangeably in modern political discourse, yet their true meanings are very different. They have become what George Orwell termed “meaningless words”. Words like “freedom,” “democracy,” and “justice,” Orwell explained, have been abused for so l?ong that their original meanings have been eviscerated. In Orwell’s view, such words were “often used in a consciously dishonest way.”

Today's Survey Question 8-29-12

When you die, what would you like to come back as?

TEXAS GOP REVOLT

TAMPA–On Monday morning, at a meeting of more than 100 Texan delegates and alternates at the Saddlebrook Resort 20 miles north of Tampa, one topic got the crowd more fired up than any other. Delegate Melinda Fredricks read aloud a letter condemning recent changes to the national Republican party’s rules that would allow the GOP presidential candidate to veto and replace state delegates.

“Our delegates are in shock that such an amendment even would be presented before the Rules Committee much less passed into rule,” Fredricks said. “Please know from the Texas delegation standpoint that the only way a floor fight can be avoided is for this rule to be stricken.”

At that point, the entire Texas delegation stood up and applauded.

Texans don’t necessarily want to have an ugly floor fight on the same day the party officially nominates Mitt Romney. But they’re willing to do it if their concerns about the rule aren’t satisfied. The changes, which Mitt Romney’s top lawyer put forward last week and Gov. Haley Barbour along with some other Romney supporters have embraced, are seen by opponents as intended to significantly weaken the power of grassroots politics and insurgent candidates such as Ron Paul. Many against the move worry that it would give national candidates the power to replace delegates–often grassroots party faithfuls–with big-time donors or friends.

“We truly consider that an infringement on our rights,” Fredricks, a member of the rules committee, told Yahoo News of the changes. Today, states generally choose their delegates at state conventions, and then those individuals travel to the national convention to cast their vote for a candidate based on the share the candidate won of the primary or caucus vote of each state. But, the changes could allow a candidate such as Mitt Romney to boot out any delegates who are assigned to vote for him and replace them.

MGM Opens Gaming Fight With $2.3M ante

Global gaming heavyweight MGM Resorts International is paying millions of dollars to a political action committee registered to lobby for the expansion of gaming in Maryland.

So far, MGM has paid at least $2.3 million to a group called For Maryland Jobs and Schools.

That amount appears to be a pittance compared to the annual revenue expected if voters approve plans for a casino in Prince George’s County.

CITY POLICE TO THE RESCUE AGAIN!

People living at 404 Vine St. were previously reported to Police for Animal Cruelty by myself and another. Their dog had no shelter, no access to food or water with its chain wrapped around the tree!!----After a more calls, Animal Control came & took the dog to the Humane Society, where I'm rather sure it was put down--- as it had not been socialized well ,and being tied all the time makes an animal aggressive.

This past Sunday , I heard a dogs excessant barking. I looked in their back yard----THESE SAME PEOPLE HAD GOTTON ANOTHER DOG!! The dogs chain was wrapped around the tree, he couldn't get to his bowls or dog house. Remembering the Torrents of rain we had Saturday night, I wondered if this dog had been in this predicament then & helpless to the weather conditions.

I called , 410 548 3165, City Animal Control . There appeared to be no one at the residence & our Humane Society is closed Sunday & Mondays! I've no idea if Animal Control will be able to get food or water for the animal as I didn't know to what extent City Animal Control can help. With our Humane Society being closed 2 days-happens to an animal in a life threatening situation ?? Perhaps someone could answer that question. I'd sure like to know! I am hoping these hrs will change since I just read on your Blogg Site the HS is suppose to be getting ONE more Animal Control Officer. Animals cruelty doesn't go on "time out" on the week ends

My husband & I rode back to see if the dog was OK later in the day. The animal was free from its entanglement, had access to its bowls & dog house. THANKS AGAIN CITY POLICE!

Life Is Coming Back To The Plaza

The Plaza Deli had a nice group of people enjoying the great weather yesterday around 4 PM. People seem to be learning this guy has the best subs/food around.

The Liability Is Unreal

While we have many very talented skate boarders here on the Shore, pulling off stunts like this on municipal property is just out of line.

There has to be at least a six foot drop off over this wall to the lower level. Click on the picture and let it enlarge. This guy would ride down the sidewalk until he came up to the wall and attempt to jump over the wall with his skate board and land six feet below.

You can't tell me these guys don't know they shouldn't be doing this, right?

Sutherland is quite familiar with the Maryland beach, as he has vacationed in Ocean City for 40-plus years. A frequent participant in Delmarva Bike Week, he became concerned over the event’s western migration, so Sutherland met with Ocean City officials and brought the inaugural rally to the coastal city in 2011.

“What we’ve done is created a high-end event for Ocean City,” he says. “Our rally will probably be 60 percent motorcyclists and 40 percent other folks,” Sutherland adds. “We do all types of music not just your ‘traditional biker’ music. We aim to attract everyone.”

He says the average biker is 52 years old and makes about $94,000 a year. He adds that their bikes don’t come with trunks and attendees will spend most of their dollars in local restaurants, retail stores and hotels. Sutherland says he is expecting at least 20,000 visitors this year.

DNC Proceeds With 2-Hour Islamic ‘Jumah’ Prayers (And You Won‘t Believe Who’s Invited)

The host committee for the Democratic National Convention is raising a number of eyebrows after choosing to proceed with featuring Islamic “Jumah” prayers for two hours on the Friday of its convention, though Democrats earlier denied a Catholic cardinal’s request to say a prayer at the same event.

Colo. Theater Victim Families Question Fundraising

AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Anguished family members of some of the Colorado theater shooting victims lashed out at a fundraising campaign Tuesday, saying it collected more than $5 million "using pictures and names of our murdered loved ones" but so far has given no more than $5,000 each to families facing bills for medical treatment, travel and other expenses from the attack.

The families also said they've been shut out of decisions on how the money should be spent and that fundraisers were unresponsive to their questions and suggestions.

"When you generate donations for a fund called `the Aurora Victim Relief Fund' using pictures and names of our murdered loved ones, it would stand to reason the fund is for victims of the Aurora shooting," said Tom Teves, whose son Alex was one of 12 people killed in the July 20 shootings. Another 58 people were wounded, and many of them face long recoveries or permanent disability

Despite Record High Stocks, Consumer Confidence Crashes to 9 Month Low

With inflation expectations soaring and jobs plentiful relative to hard-to-get falling slightly, Consumer Confidence plunged its most in 10 months to a level not seen since November of last year. It seems that despite all the hopes and prayers priced into US equity market valuations, the US Consumer remains unimpressed, unhappy, and unemployed. Of course, the 'good is bad, bad is better' market has interpreted this as a clear QE-on flag (for this millisecond anyway).

Consumer Confidence is at a 9 month low...

FREEDOM RUN & RIDE

Ron Paul And The Future

One of the most thrilling memories of the 2012 campaign was the sight of those huge crowds who came out to see Ron. His competitors, meanwhile, couldn't fill half a Starbucks. When I worked as Ron's chief of staff in the late 1970s and early 1980s, I could only dream of such a day.

Now, what was it that attracted all these people to Ron Paul? He didn't offer his followers a spot on the federal gravy train. He didn't pass some phony bill. In fact, he didn't do any of the things we associate with politicians. What his supporters love about him has nothing to do with politics at all.

Ron is the anti-politician. He tells unfashionable truths, educates rather than flatters the public and stands up for principle even when the whole world is arrayed against him.

Some people say, "I love Ron Paul, except for his foreign policy." But that foreign policy reflects the best and most heroic part of who Ron Paul is. Peace is the linchpin of the Paulian program, not an extraneous or dispensable adjunct to it. He would never and could never abandon it.

Here was the issue Ron could have avoided had he cared only for personal advancement.

Christie Vouches For Romney: ‘Solutions Will Not Be Painless’

Kicking off Republicans’ 2012 nominating convention with a piercing critique of American political life, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Tuesday politicians and voters alike have “become paralyzed” by an inability to live within limits, and he challenged both groups to accept that there are some promises government should not make, and cannot meet.
The day began with the GOP officially nominating Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan as their presidential and vice presidential candidates, concluding a process that began eight months ago in the frozen cornfields of Iowa.
Mr. Romney himself made a surprise appearance after his wife, Ann, delivered a buoyant yet poignant speech describing their life together.

Immortal: 174 ACORN Affiliates Still Active

Many of ACORN’s affiliates, allies, and old chapters remain active under different names — and at least two have received federal dollars — despite the left-wing community-organizing group’s official dissolution and ban on receiving federal funds, according to a new report.
Cause of Action, a nonprofit government watchdog group, recently identified 174 active or rebranded ACORN affiliates, as well as organizations that share former ACORN staff. ...

In some ways, [Capital Research Center investigator Matthew] Vadum said, the official collapse of ACORN was the best thing that could have happened to the organization. The former shell has now split into dozens of groups, making it much harder to track.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge Closed Because Of Swaying

While passing over the bridge over the past few weeks I informed my wife that I did not think it was very wise to use those tarps and have them drapped over the scaffolding next to the bridge.
The whole set-up is like a make-shift kite.

And from what I have previously witnessed with that bridge - (ie - unusual and misaligned expansion joints, concrete dropping off of the pilings and floating in the bay, improper concrete mix being used over the pandecking - then having to redo the work twice etc.) - I would not trust any type of certification issued from the Maryland Transportation Board. They are the same group that issued a compliance report right up until the Pocomoke City, MD drawbridge collapsed. Luckily - no one was crossing that structure at the time.

GO GET THEM SBYNEWS - THIS IS NATIONAL NEWS AND THE PEOPLE OUGHT TO KNOW THIS INFORMATION!!!
