Princess Anne Elections

Now that the election is all over and people are getting their lives back in order, it's time for me to express some of my experiences down there.

A kinder group you'll not meet anywhere on earth! Black/White, from what I've learned over the past three years of visiting Princess Anne, 95% of the people living there are COLOR BLIND! Oh, and you know who the other 5% of the a$$holes are in that Town.

If you haven't been to UMES, GO! I'm telling you, it's a sight to see. Get inside these buildings and take a look around, you'll be amazed. Meet the Staff! These are the kindest, most respectful people you'll ever come to meet on the Eastern Shore.

Have you seen the recently renovated Police Department? That's my next Post. Princess Anne is the kind of place you stop by, fall in love and find yourself going back time and time again because you just can't get enough of the people.

If you'd like to meet some of these wonderful people, go to their Hot Dog In The Park every last Friday of every month. If you're seriously considering selling your home in Salisbury, go 10 minutes South and visit Princess Anne and let them show you around. It certainly would have been nice in the Mayor of Salisbury's 10 years of being in Officer for her to have revitalized the Downtown Plaza area like they have in the main section of Somerset Ave in Downtown Princess Anne. It is absolutely breathtaking, especially at night.

"With everyone in Salisbury being stingy with the police as far as budgets and raising sewer rates thought you would be interested in how a little town like Crisfield does it. This week the City Council approved new patrol cars for the Crisfield PD-The Crisfield Chief wears a standard issue uniform just like his men and he has done such a good job that local drug thugs have threatened him-and although there is a MAJOR sewer project underway in Crisfield right now,the council voted NOT to raise water/sewer rates-in fact they also voted to give senior citizens a tax break on assessments in town. Maybe the people being priced out of Salisbury should look South."

I couldn't agree more. Seriously though, Princess Anne is also another beautiful town to consider. Your best bet and or best buy is in Delmar, DE. though. The taxes are 70% less, (if not more) and you get the luxury of everything Salisbury has to offer for free anyway. Start looking now while the market is right.

The Daily Times Fails To Deliver Again!

It's been three days in a row we've gone out to our mailbox and there's been NO newspaper. I know some of you are sick of hearing me complain but the point here is, if you're no longer getting their newspaper you're not missing out on anything. We continue our subscription so we can keep up on things like this as well as read the BS they still continue to impress people with, like information on/from the Mayor.

Brass Balls

Back before missiles, it was necessary to keep a good supply of cannon balls near the cannon on war ships. But how to prevent them from rolling about the deck was the problem.. The best storage method devised was to stack them as a square based pyramid, with one ball on top, resting on four, resting on nine, which rested on sixteen. Thus, a supply of 30 cannon balls could be stacked in a small area right next to the cannon.

There was only one problem, how to prevent the bottom layer from sliding/rolling from under the others. The solution was a metal plate with 16 round indentations, called a Monkey. But if this plate was made of iron, the iron balls would quickly rust to it. The solution to therusting problem was to make Brass Monkeys.

Few landlubbers realize that brass contracts much more and much faster than iron when chilled. Consequently, when the temperature dropped too far, the brass indentations would shrink so much that the iron cannon balls would come right off the monkey. Thus, it was quite literally, cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.

And all this time, you thought that was a vulgar expression, didn't
you?

Skateboard Park Fundraiser This Weekend

There will be a Skateboard Park Fundraiser this Saturday the 7th from noon until 5. It will be held in the municipal parking lot between the library and WMDT. $10 entry fee… wristbands will be given and must be worn at all times. All skateboarders must fill out a waiver form and wear a helmet while skating. There will be various ramps and obstacles set up. Contests will be held (highest ollie, biggest air, longest powerslide, etc…) & trophies will be given to winners. Several local bands will be performing. There will be food and sodas available from Flannery’s. Salisbury Bible Fellowship will be selling Italian ices. This even is meant to be a “block party” type of event, open to the public. Hopefully this will draw people who are not skateboarders as well. This is to raise money and public awareness for the Salisbury Skatepark.

Free Youth Soccer Day Offered By Wicomico Recreation, Parks & Tourism

(Salisbury, MD) Children ages 3-13 are invited to take part in Wicomico County’s Youth Soccer Day this Saturday, June 7. Held at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex off of Naylor Mill Road, participants have two sessions to choose from. The first session will take place from 10:00am to 12:00pm and the second will occur from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Both sessions are free and open to the public, experience is not necessary.

Based on age, children will be grouped together to participate in soccer drills, exercises and games. If your child is interested in playing fall soccer, this is a great opportunity to try the sport out. All attendees will receive a $5-off coupon for fall soccer registration (must be used within one-week of Youth Soccer Day). Participants can register for fall soccer on-site during Youth Soccer Day.

I'm 19 years old and live in Delmar. I attend SU, but am trying to find things to do in my free time, especially over the summer. I'm not old enough to go over to bars etc. in OC, so a huge amount of recreational/social opportunity is lost right there. As a local blogger, I thought that you might be able to suggest a few interesting things to do/see locally. I've lived here long enough that I'm familiar with the centre and the shorebirds etc., but I'm trying to find smaller venues that are interesting, as well as ways of getting more personally and socially involved in the community here If you have any ideas or suggestions (crazy is good!), that would be wonderful.

Unfortunately you are in that quasi I'm too old for a lot of stuff and not old enough for the rest of being a legal adult. Live music is hard to come by unless you are 21. Seacrets and The Bottle and Cork are 21 and over shows. The Wicomico Youth and Civic Center is hosting Willie Nelson July 30 and WWE August 10th. Slim pickings. Night life is going to be a little tough for you.

A few suggestions. Go camping and night fishing at Assateague. It's fun, relaxing, and not crowded. Roast some smores. BBQ'n during the day playing horseshoes, bocce, whiffle ball, and what ever sport all day is how I spent a lot of my free weekends off from running when it was nice. It kept us active all day; we literally spent an hr and a half playing knock-out in the New Zoo at my place non stop and it was a blast!

Get involved with the clubs at school. Many kids stay around and you can go out and do activities with the members. Some groups, like Greek Life, have convocations and leadership workshops which you can go to if you become a member of a Greek Organization.

Community wise you can offer your services up to charities and volunteer services. Go to local festivals and events like Pork in the Park or the Tawes Crab Feast in July in Crisfield. Look for local organizations such as Jaycees or political clubs.

Unlike Eastern Shore Gas, Delmarva Power has Some Class

This morning a representative from Delmarva Power came to our house and formerly apologized for the negligent behavior of their employee last week.

As you may remember we reported that last week we found a Delmarva Power Truck parked in the middle of our backyard. We had not ordered any work to be done nor had our neighbors, nor had the building adjacent to our property. My husband looked around the neighborhood and didn't see anyone from DP&L, so he called the Pocomoke Police Department. The officer responded with a DP&L employee in the back of her car. He had parked in our yard as he set off on foot to read meters. Problem is our property is located smack dab in the middle of least 300 parking spaces that adjoin us. So our question was "why are you parked in our yard, especially in the middle of the yard"?

Many may feel that this was an overreaction to this situation, however, we have had the unique experience of having a utility company come onto our property and cause over a hundred thousand dollars in damages, all of which are still left in disrepair.

Mr. Thornton of Delmarva Power, stated that the company has very specific rules of conduct as it pertains to the parking of company vehicles when reading meters, and that what this employee did was completely out of line.

Thank you Delmarva Power for having the class and integrity to apologize when wrong, and make sure that your customers are treated with dignity and fairness.

We are still waiting for Eastern Shore Gas and their subcontractors to step up to the plate and do the right thing.

Warning: If you are a citizen of Pocomoke City and ESG is your gas provider please be advised that Pocomoke City does not require this company or it's subcontractors to be licensed or post a bond or be permitted to dig up your property to perform any sort of work on your private property. In plain English, if they screw up and damage anything on your property you have personally go after them reparation; your City offers no protection to you the citizen against these unlicensed contractors!

Open Question Response

John Swanson the Chair of the City Park Committee has emailed me and will be giving me a response on the City Park area. I thank him for taking the time to answer these questions that have been posted, it is much appreciated.

SALISBURY v STU LEER: NOW HIS LEGAL COSTS MUST BE PAID!

For a case in Maryland’s Court of Special Appeals, the rules provide that “the
prevailing party is entitled to costs,” unless the Court orders an allocation
among the parties. Normally, the costs do not include any attorney’s fees, but
that’s a moot matter because Mr. Leer didn’t need or have an attorney in order
to beat the City, which has paid almost $12,000 in legal fees for that case
plus another $6,000 for the case that Mr. Leer also won in the Wicomico County
Circuit Court.

In this instance the "costs" include the expense incurred by Mr. Leer to
reproduce the necessary copies of his brief, and there may be other items as
well. It has been reported that the Court has ordered the City to pay those
costs in full, without any allocation.

If that's so, the total expense paid by the City in this one matter as a result
of Barrie Tilghman’s attempt to “get even” with Mr. Leer for supporting someone
who ran against her in 1998 will approach if not exceed $20,000.00

An Open Question on City Park Part 3

There is always little things that can be done to make the area look better and City Park needs it. These piles of mulch do not look that healthy and the areas which could use some mulch have not received it.

Why are their two gross looking piles of mulch right next to the path that are going to waste just like those bio-logs?

These are pictures of two garden like areas that have not been kept. That mulch could of been used here, but no, the areas are not tended. City park has many open areas where there is not anything there such as the wide open area where those bio-logs are from the last post. A few small garden areas with some benches or picnic tables would be nice; just something to make the area not look as barren.

Still if the shoreline growth needs to mature as some have said, then why have not these other areas been improved or new gardens added?

Looking at the surrounding areas the ground looks terrible being barren.

Even the memorial on Picnic Island has not been up-kept.

What do you Salisbury want done with the park? What would you like to see? What do you think that needs to be done?

Again what has been planned for this area and when will the needed work to make this park look amazing for everyone take place?

Grand Theft Auto & Then Some

On June 2, 2008 at approximately 5:20 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to the Friendly Food Store on N. Salisbury Boulevard for the report of a theft of gasoline. The officers were given a description of the suspect vehicle and located the vehicle while en route to the food store. The suspect vehicle fled from the officers and refused to stop until striking a curb and coming to rest in the area of the Court Plaza on S. Salisbury Boulevard. The suspect, listed below, then fled from the vehicle and was apprehended after a short foot chase. Further investigation of the incident revealed that the vehicle operated by the suspect had been reported stolen from Laurel, Delaware, and the suspect was currently wanted as an escapee from a detention facility in Delaware.

On the morning of Sunday, May 25th 2008, the Batey Family of Bridgeville, DE lost their home and all their worldly possessions in a house fire. Fortunately, no life was lost but they have lost EVERYTHING. Some things can never be replaced such as photos, mementos, and personal artifacts that have been collected throughout the years.

Currently they are living in a hotel awaiting the insurance company to locate a rental house for them. They are in desperate need of clothing and shoes. They will also need home furnishings and basic kitchen items like pots, pan, silverware, plates, bowls, and glassware.

We are currently looking for a furniture store to donate bedroom furniture for the family. Several WalMart gift cards have been donated and are greatly appreciated and very useful.

A 50/50 raffle in currently taking place to benefit the family. Tickets are $10 each. The drawing will be held August 1st. Our goal is to raise $10,000, $5,000 for the family and $5,000 for the winner.

Free Fishing Derby Offered this Weekend By Wicomico Recreation, Parks And Tourism

Wicomico Recreation, Parks and Tourism Offers Free Fishing Derby this Weekend

(Salisbury, MD) Cast your rod at Salisbury City Park this Saturday (June 7) during Wicomico Recreation, Parks & Tourism’s Annual Fishing Derby. The Annual Fishing Derby is a free event, open to children 15 and under.

Registration will begin at 7:30am (advanced registration is not necessary), and fishing starts promptly at 8:00am. Each child must bring their own rod and bait. Several catch and release contests are planned. Trophies will be awarded for the biggest fish, most fish caught, youngest angler, most unusual catch and more. Each participant will also receive a gold fish and t-shirt to take home (while supplies last).

In preparation for the Derby, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will help stock the pond at Salisbury City Park this Thursday, June 5. Approximately 500 Blue Gills will join the pond’s current inhabitants including Catfish, Large-Mouth Bass, Perch and Carp. A specific time has not yet been announced by the Department of Natural Resources for the stocking of the pond, but members of the media are welcome to attend this unique preparation. If you contact us with your interest to attend, we will send you a final notification once a specific time is announced.

O'Malley Appointee Doesn't Qualify for Office

The last time I checked, to serve on a county liquor licensing board you had to be (not only) a Maryland resident, but a resident of the county where your appointment rests. True to form, little things like this don't bother Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley.

John Wade, who was recently disqualified as a candidate for the Princess Anne Town Commission because he failed the residency requirement, is an O'Malley appointee to the Somerset County Board of Liquor License Commissioners.

Wade has a driver's license from Georgia, is reportedly driving a car with New Jersey tags, and reportedly has a residence in Delaware! By Somerset County standards, the man is absolutely cosmopolitan.

It seems that Wade is just one more example of the type of governance we can continue to expect from O'Malley. Let's keep trying to raise those taxes and leave little things like the law to others.

In Wicomico, Cutting Taxes Is Absurd

During yesterday's Wicomico County Council meeting one thing was made abundantly clear - the Wicomico County government has little interest in tax relief for its residents and NO desire to make meaningful spending cuts.

I arrived a few minutes late to Tuesday's meeting. I walked in to find that the agenda had been changed and the vote on the FY 2009 county budget had been moved up. Unfortunately, I was there to hear two councilmen express views on county fiscal matters which distressed me to no end.

Councilman Bill McCain (D) provided the public with his views on tax policy. Referencing Councilman Joe Holloway's (R-5) attempts to cut the county income tax rate McCain stated, "(it is) ...absurd to cut a county revenue source." It appears that McCain views our tax dollars not as OUR money, but as "a county revenue source" to be spent by our county government.

Given that five members refused to even research the potential cost of an open ended pension liability (which could cost taxpayers over $1 million), assuming that McCain and his like-minded cohorts will spend tax money wisely could prove both dangerous and expensive. McCain's apparent belief that taxpayer money is the county's lends credence that he shouldn't be trusted with fiscal decisions.

Councilman Dave MacLeod (D-4), while taking a different approach, leads Wicomico down the same fiscally disastrous path. Stating that he doesn't subscribe to the "doomsday scenario", he believes that "we can look forward to a BIGGER and BETTER budget down the road". While I have to credit MacLeod with being so open, I have to condemn his philosophy of government.

When discussing fiscal matters, BIGGER is not de facto BETTER. I know that MacLeod is a man of good heart and conscience. He feeds the homeless and hugs trees. These are admirable qualities. Expropriating funds from the taxpayer to redistribute wealth has proven disastrous almost everywhere it has been tried (the exceptions being in relatively small, homogeneous populations).

The bottom line is simple. Are we here to be slaves to the government or is government to serve us? In Wicomico County, the views of our elected officials is becoming rapidly clear. We are blessed with two council members (Holloway and Prettyman) who understand that government should serve the taxpayer. McCain and MacLeod apparently believe the opposite. We have three members who, at least rhetorically, are sitting on the fence.

Retaining their perch will not only give council members John Cannon, Gail Bartkovich, Sheree Sample-Hughes splinters, it will strengthen the voters' belief that they too subscribe to the McCain / MacLeod philosophy of government.

John Wade's Election Fraud

Ladies & Gentlemen, never in all my years have I seen something so blatant and obvious. I'm told there were close to 90 some odd absentee ballots for John Wade, all but 8 votes for him were actually legal.

As you can CLEARLY see from the two photos above, the same person signed these absentee ballots as they all came in like this. This man needs to be arrested and throw into jail.

This Country was created to give us the freedom to get out and vote for the person we believe is the best person to represent us. John Wade is a liar, a scam artist and IMO a criminal. This scumbag can use any excuse he'd like to come after me but I have clearly seen first hand just how desperate this man is and when he was a "No Show" at all yesterday, I knew for sure the guy was a piece of sh!t. I also knew everything I had picked up about the guy was accurate because any good human being would have stood up to what I have been saying and defend himself.

John Wade refused to talk to the Press after numerous phone calls and he refused to show up at the polls. I am calling out for Governor O'Malley to terminate this lying sack of sh!t immediately from the Maryland State Liquor Board and I expect to hear something today in reference to that decision.

I am confident that when the Lt. Governor comes to Town next week and views these ballots they will feel comfortable their decision to terminate him was the right one.

Shame on you Mr. Wade, for trying to cheat the American Voting System. You don't even belong in the Unites States of America, let alone Princess Anne! You Sir are responsible for each and every one of those ballots and I certainly hope there's a price to pay for breaking the law.

My final hope is that the proper authorities in Princess Anne move forward to have this man prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Time will tell?

Frank White Retains His Seat In Princess Anne!

There were two scuffles outside the election center, one involving one of the candidates Debbie Farrow. One person from the White campaign was walking past Debbie and the next thing you knew, Debbie was shoving this woman.

Another person walked into the election place going off about John Wade. But wait, it gets even better! I was personally standing there when the election board became VERY upset over the fact that the majority of the Absentee Ballots, (90%+) were hand written by the same person. We're talking election fraud!

Nevertheless, the final numbers were as follows:

Frank White 111 votes.

Allen Muir 42 votes.

Debbie Farow 39 votes.

John Wade 47 votes, DISQUALIFIED. Mind you, there were only 8 legitimate votes for Wade.

Wicomico County Sheriff's Department Press Releases

Incident: Assault
Date of Incident: 29 May 2008
Location: 5600 Block of Mt. Hermon Church Road, Salisbury, MD
Suspects: David K. McWilliams

Narrative: On 29 May 2008 at 9:00 PM, deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 5600 Block of Mt. Hermon Church Road for a reported assault. During the investigation, deputies learned that an argument ensued between two residents there that escalated into a physical confrontation. As a result of the physical confrontation, one of the residents claimed to be the victim of an assault and had corresponding injuries that were inflicted by his assailant, identified as David K. McWilliams. At the conclusion of the investigation, deputies placed David McWilliams under arrest for the assault.

David McWilliams was transported to the Central Booking Unit at the Wicomico County Detention Center where McWilliams was processed and charged with second degree assault. After an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner, McWilliams was held on $25,000.00 bond.

Incident: Theft from Motor Vehicles
Date of Incident: 3 June 2008
Location: Ward Road and Mt. Hermon Church Road
Suspects: unknown

Narrative: Between 1 -3 June 2008, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office has responded to several residences on the east side of Wicomico County in reference to thefts from Motor Vehicles. On 1 June 2008, three separate victims in the 30800 block of Ward Road reported that their vehicles had been entered and rummaged through. On 3 June 2008, Deputies responded to the 5700 block of Mt. Hermon Church Road also in reference to thefts from three Motor Vehicles. One thing that each vehicle had in common was that they were all unlocked.

At this time the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is investigating these thefts but we currently have no suspect information. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office at 410-548-4890 or Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776.

Hebron Developer Tracts Set For Tax Sale

Porter Mill Road Properties, LLC, the developer of Waller Landing in Hebron, has two of its tracts (#817 and #818) published for tax sale in a couple of weeks. They paid the Hebron taxes only yesterday and as of
9:40 a.m. today, the County taxes remain delinquent.

Not a good move on the part of that developer!

The vote to pass on the LLC's Waller Landing project by the Planning Commission is set for this Thursday!

Disqualified John Wade Makes Headlines Again

While the election board looked into the multiple absentee ballots, 41 of them were completely invalid. These were NOT registered voters, so why would someone waste their time collecting such ballots?

I have been here in Princess Anne since 6:30 AM and Mr. Wade has yet to show up at all. Even though he stated in the Daily Times today that he would be here and run, my guess is he's afraid of the Local and or State Police confronting him for an illegal drivers license.

So much for the photo op! LOL

Salisbury - All's Well in the Land of Low Taxes, Toys and Safety

If I didn't know better I would swear that our own Daily Times had shifted from (supposedly) being a newspaper to becoming a humor mag. Unfortunately not.

This morning we learn that Salisbury Councilwoman Louise Smith WON'T support higher taxes. I haven't heard anything so humorously absurd since a friend of mine stood before the Wicomico Republican Club and stated that, "we need more principled candidates like Louise Smith" on the very night last year when she voted to make way for a double digit tax increase while admitting that she had been too busy to read Mayor Barrie Tilghman's proposed budget.

Councilman Gary Comegys won't support more police and firefighters because "firefighters needed their toys". The next time you meet a Salisbury VOLUNTEER firefighter, let them know that you really appreciated their service until Comegys told you that these folks are only in it for the toys.

Councilwoman Shanie Shields, Salisbury's resident one woman brain trust, doesn't want more police officers. "Crime is not a problem in Salisbury." I can only assume that Shields believes that the recent run of murders within the city is simply God's way of thinning the surplus population.

Just when you believe that the level of absurdity in Barrieland may have leveled off, Smith, Comegys or Shields open their mouths.

Jermaine Wright Is Behind Bars Again

Jermaine Wright, (recently released from jail for the murder of a young lady in Ocean City) is back behind bars in Jail for stealing from Reynolds Excavating in Princess Anne.

The Maryland State Police arrested him yesterday after the owner, Richard Reynolds personally caught him red handed stealing hydraulic materials, engine heads and other metals off their property.

Mr. Reynolds actually chased him into Fruitland until he finally pinned him and waited for the State Police to arrive.

Mr. Wright is out on parole and will not be released until his trial.

Question of the Day, Tue 6/3

Do you think MVA should make it mandatory for drivers to take a driving test more than once? For example, maybe every 10 years, which would be every other license renewal? Not to knock senior citizens, because I respect my elders...but I see people that look 85+ years old, driving. However, on the other hand, there are many middle-aged drivers that seem to NOT know the laws of the road.

Re-Elect Frank White

His signs are just about everywhere in Princess Anne and just about everyone you see loves this guy to death. Even though this job only pays $1,200.00 a year, no that is not a typo, twelve hundred dollars a year is all that job pays. You have to love what you're doing and the people you're representing. I happen to know Frank White does just that. It doesn't matter what department you go to, they all love Frank White. IMO, the guy was made to be a politician, period. Good Luck today Frank.

Hot Dogs In The Park

Last Friday I was asked to come back to Princess Anne to join the Citizens and Employees of Princess Anne for their monthly Hot Dogs In The Park event.

What amazes me is how this community comes together to enjoy some fellowship whereas everyone feels so welcome and every face is smiling. Oh, you could say Princess Anne is a lot like Mayberry and you know what, that's OK. I doubt very seriously anyone would be offended by such a statement. It's a quaint little Town with wonderful and happy people. If they had taxes like Delaware, I'd even move there.

Take note Barrie Tilghman. This is how you communicate with the people that voted you into Office. So why doesn't this happen in Salisbury? At this point, the only people that would show up are the employees because they'd feel like if they didn't show they'd lose their jobs. How does that make you feel Barrie, powerful? Lonely?

Today Is The Big Day In Princess Anne

This old Historic Building in Princess Anne was recently renovated by the Chamber of Commerce and is the voting place for Citizens of Princess Anne. I happened to be admiring it the other day when I was visiting and was filled in on how they just converted it into a Visitors Center, since it was only used once every two years for voting.

It is currently 4:30 AM and I am up early this morning because I'm going to make my way down to Princess Anne this morning to keep tabs on the election there. The polls open at 7:00 AM and close at 7:00 PM. However, I hear there may be some interesting action first thing this morning and I'd like to be there if there is.

I'll be reporting LIVE from Princess Anne today, since that's where all the action has been the past two days.

Open Question On City Park Part 2

I took another walk around the City Park area, from Ben's Red Swings to the end of the park at Snow Hill Rd, and took some of the comments into consideration. Looking a little more closely and in some new places I found some more stuff that is detracting from the area. I'll have my opinion on the shoreline growth later, but I appreciate the comments from the posters. Thank you.






These are two groups of leftover bio-logs just sitting around. Why are they still around and not been used? They are laying next to the water treatment plant.

This is the area which from one my first picture showed partially. The bio-logs were originally stored here and clearly the area has not been fully cleaned up or improved. It's quite a large area with a pile of matting and there is matting sticking up from the sand.

Again things are looking a tad bit fallow and things are not picked up or finished. It does not look good. Bunch of little things add up. Just showing you all that it was more than just perceived overgrown banks.

So I'll ask the question again what is planned for the park in renovations/maintenance/clean up? Where are we going to be after this year?

John Wade Disqualified

Princess Anne Police Chief testifies to Election Board.

Election Board votes unanimously to disqualify John Wade.

The mystery man John Wade of, well, who knows where, was disqualified as a Candidate by the Princess Anne Election Board.

With the assistance of the Princess Anne Police and the Maryland State Police by way of the States Attorneys Office informed the Election Board that Mr. John Wade did in fact have a valid drivers license. HOWEVER, his valid license is in the state of Georgia, NOT MARYLAND!

The President of the Princess Anne Commissioners said, "We Trust But We Must Verify". Truer words couldn't be better spoken. Jay Parker stated that it was a sad day when Officials can no longer simply trust applicants.

The Police Chief came to today's meeting and testified that he had spoken with the State Police who verified Mr. Wade's drivers license was in fact from Georgia and NOT Maryland. That was enough for the three panel Election Board, Agnes Cooper Dennis, Kelly Salyers and Barbara Long to deliver a unanimous vote to disqualify John Wade as any kind of candidate for the District 1 Seat.

As many of you know, I have been working on this story for several days. I made contact with every MSM News Source in the area and every one of them refused to get involved, till today. Once they found out the Election Board was in fact taking this matter seriously, WMDT came to today's meeting and just couldn't believe this guy was even running.

Perhaps in two years Mr. or Mrs. Wade can try again AFTER getting valid drivers licenses and prove they're living in their older home in Princess Anne, rather than their home in Delmar, Maryland. You will also see this information in tomorrows Daily Times as I contacted them personally to make sure everyone is aware they shouldn't waste their votes in tomorrows election.

Second Wade Disqualified in Princess Anne Town Commission Race

John Wade, who was running a write-in candidacy for the Princess Anne Town Commission has been disqualified. The disqualification is based on Wade not being a town resident for the prescribed period of time.

Worcester County Sheriff Seeks YOUR HELP Finding Attempted Murder Suspect

On June 1, 2008 at approximately 11:30 PM, the Berlin Police Department responded to the Bay Street area because of a report of a stabbing. The victim was Raymont Johnson(B/M, 20 yrs old, Berlin, Maryland).

The victim, Raymont Johnson was (allegedly) stabbed by the suspect April Jackson while at her apartment. The victim was flown to PRMC where he is currently being treated for his injuries. The suspect April Jackson has fled and here whereabouts are unknown.

The investigation has been turned over to the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation. There is now an arrest warrant for April Jackson for attempted Murder and 1^st Degree Assault.Anyone with additional information regarding this matter or knows the location of the suspect (April Jackson) is encouraged to contact the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation at 410-352-3476 and speak with D/Cpl. Mitchell or the Berlin Police Department.

Challenger British Soccer Camps Return To Wicomico County

(Salisbury, MD) Wicomico County Recreation, Parks & Tourism is bringing the largest soccer camp in the United States and Canada back to Salisbury, MD. The Challenger British Soccer Camp will return on July 7-11 to the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex. Registration for the week long camp is now open.

Challenger British Soccer Camps are open to boys and girls ages three through fourteen and all skill levels. The camp provides children with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day of camp includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily tournament. The Challenger coaching staff also prides itself on providing children with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership.

Registrations are accepted online at www.challengersports.com or at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center Box Office, open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Princess Anne Police Promote Click It Or Ticket Program

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until on day, the owner threw th em a curve. "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20."Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?' They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).< BR>The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20,"declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man," but he got $10!"

"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!"
"That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not sh ow up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Don't expect calls from the public. Barrie doesn't like to entertain questions from the public any more than her buddy Louise Smith does.

TIF Question Answered On City website

Question: Where is the $14+ million that the City approved for the TIF that was supposed to pay for development of the old mall? Where is that money going? Who has that $14 million? Who is going to pay the $14 million back if we don’t have a development on that property? Who’s supposed to pay for the TIF? All the tax revenue from the commercial and the residential buildings there was supposed to pay for the TIF over a 30-year period. When does that TIF come due? When do the payments stop? Have they already started? Where is the money coming from, where is the TIF money right now, who has that $14 million and how is it going to be paid back if the development doesn’t go through?

Answer: The bonds were issued as combined tax increment financing/special taxing district bonds. The purpose of the bond issuance is to provide funds to pay for specific public improvements for the (old mall) site that are in the nature of infrastructure improvements; bond proceeds will not be applied to fund private development activities.

The bonds were issued in April 2007 in the form of draw-down bonds and sold to Salisbury Mall Associates, LLC (SMA) as the initial bond holder. While the bonds are in draw-down mode, SMA will actually transfer to the bond trustee from SMA’s own funds any "draws" on the bonds; the bond trustee will place such moneys in the project fund and then apply the moneys to project costs in accordance with requisitions approved by City officials. Other than the costs of issuance and an initial deposit to the administrative expense fund drawn down on the date the bonds were issued, no funds have been advanced against the bonds, to date. SMA, as the holder of the bonds advanced those funds at closing. Before additional draws may be made on the bonds (which will be advanced by SMA), the City’s bond counsel will have to approve the contracts for the specific infrastructure improvements or specific project costs.

No interest is due on the bonds until July 1, 2012, or any earlier conversion date, and the first date that principal is due on the bonds is July 1, 2013. SMA has until July 1, 2012 to effect a successful conversion and remarketing of the bonds to private investors. If SMA is able to effect such a successful conversion, the funds received from private investors to purchase the bonds from SMA will be deposited with the bond trustee and applied to pay costs of the conversion and remarketing, to fund a debt service reserve fund, to pay capitalized interest on the bonds (if the public improvements have not been completed) and to fund project costs. SMA is responsible for paying any such costs in excess of those covered by the conversion and remarketing proceeds.

Please be advised that the developer paid for the demolition of the old mall building and site cleanup and no funds were utilized from the special obligation bonds for those activities. Also, current legal considerations, between the developer and the builder, have no bearing on the special obligation bonds and the repayment thereof.

Money to pay debt service on the bonds will be generated through future incremental ad valorem real property tax revenues from the project, and, to the extent such revenues are insufficient, special taxes levied by the City on the project site. No funds are coming out of current tax revenue and this project is not a general burden on City taxpayers. The City has not pledged its full faith and credit or its general obligation taxing power to the payment of these bonds. The only impact to the City of Salisbury will be the reduction of incremental ad valorem real property tax revenue from the project that would normally flow to the City, until the bonds are paid in full. To the extent the owner of the property in the project site (which constitutes the tax increment development district and the geographically coincident special taxing district) fail to pay their normal ad valorem property taxes or any levied special taxes, the City has the power to foreclose on such properties, but the City is not liable for any deficiencies.

I want my WIC checks

Last night My wife and I went grocery shopping at Wal-mart. We used to go to Food Lion, but the costs are too high. Point is we go to Wal-mart in an attempt to save money. Ya know.....fiscal responsibility. Anyway, we are walking down the isle and a person (me anyway and I don't care who likes it) can't help but notice the extremely high percentage of Hispanic people present - if for no other reason but due to the fact that as they speak to each other you can't understand what they are saying. After making this observation, I noticed one particular woman, obviously of hispanic descent, with a shopping cart containing 10 gallons of milk. 10 gallons of milk. I thought: "how can a family possibly consume 10 gallons of milk before it goes bad?". A few seconds later I saw that she was holding several papers in her right hand. As I walked by her I noticed they were WIC checks. I brought this to the attention of my wife and she just rolled her eyes and asked me why I get all worked up about things like this. I bit my tounge and continued shopping. As we continued to wander up and down the isles I observed a couple with a small child who were shopping who were, again, obviously of Hispanic descent. In the womans right hand was what? You guessed it....WIC checks! At this point I was in disbelief. These folks were speaking spanish and I know in my heart they weren't born here. WIC checks....indeed! "My tax dollars at work", I thought. But I carried on. When we got in the check out line, two families up from us there was another Hispanic family. To my horror the woman of the family was carrying .....WIC CHECKS! The man was wearing a short sleave shirt covered in Spanish, which is his right, but moved me toward believing that these folks weren't born here.

Call me a racist if you wan't and I can't prove that these folks were illegal......but the chances of them being here legally in this area is slim.

A friend of mine recently went to a school geared toward the administrations of Law Enforcement Agencies. One of the speakers was from the Federal Govt. This speaker stated that a major reason that our govt. isn't pushing the illegal immigration issue is that most of these folks who work, pay into the Social Security System under a ficticious SS number. They continue to pay into it without any hope of collecting from it. It is simply an underhanded ploy to keep a failing system afloat.

Is this really working? Aren't they taking more out of one system (welfare, WIC, other social programs) than they are putting into another? Aren't they costing the American public more by getting sick and going to the hospital and never paying their bills thereby pushing healthcare costs up for everyone else in order to recover those losses? Or by leaving houses and apartments they rent without paying their last two months electric bills thereby increasing the costs to everyone else to recover those losses?

When we got into the car it was raining like a cow pi**ing on a flat rock. I was less than happy with my shopping experience. My wife said "I don't understand why you get so upset over these things. "They're" going to do what they want anyway. They don't care (meaning the govt.) and nothing's gonna change". I told her that it's an attitude like that which has brought us to this point. Now......call me a racist. Let's have it.

I think tomorrow I'm going to go register for WIC. We have two children still. I just may qualify. While I'm at it, I'm going to apply for welfare and get a check from them - or an "independence" card. Just think of the money I'll save since I won't have to pay for health care anymore. The govt. will pay for my housing under Section 8. I'll just put it in the backs of hardworking Americans. How....."American".

Lying Sack Of Sh!t Part II

As many of you have heard, I confronted Council Vice President Gary Comegys about his illegal parking at the Flea Market in Downtown Salisbury and he flat out denied and lied about it.

The audio clip above is my asking the man if he in fact parked there and he flat out lied and said no. After the meeting ended I confronted him again telling him I had several witnesses that would testify that he was parked in a Handicap Zone and that there was a person in a wheel chair trying to get off a Bus and could not do so because Mr. Comegys vehicle was parked at the ramp where they load and unload. His response was, "I was only there 10 minutes."

I should add, he was smiling the entire time, knowing he had just been caught in a lie. When I asked him the original question, (one reason why you can't hear him reply) he sat back in his chair away from the mic and smiled and then said NO. Bubba, Yo Nex Mare?

The Once and Future Wicomico County Department of Law
