Louise Smith and I met when I attended the City Council Meetings and Mayor Ireton's Roundtable Meetings with the city neighborhood associations. Ireton implemented these which enabled city neighborhoods to meet together, when Jake Day came in he dropped these. I remember one in particular where Tom Stevenson was to have addressed problem drug houses which he repeatedly put off. When I tried to bring it up in one meeting he said in front of Louise and a neighbor of mine he would meet with us after the meeting. He addressed me as a meddler and said I never let up on him which I stated we just needed answers he hollered and hollered. Louise dismissed him. The next day I saw Louise and apologized for the outburst, she stated the outburst was his not mine and he should not have not offered to meet when he had no intention of doing so and that he could be quite rude to women. This is a true lady, and someone who listened to all sides, and all items on the council agendas with a quiet thoroughness that I wish we still had. I am sorry for the family's loss and the loss to Salisbury she will be missed by many. Thank God for these people who step forward over the years, Terry Cohen, Debbie Campbell, Jim Ireton, and Louise Smith real listeners and real leaders for truth.
