Troopers Arrest Laurel Man on Drug Charges After Juvenile Overdose-Laurel

Laurel- The Delaware State Police have arrested 31-year-old Gilbert M. Dickerson on drug and related charges after a juvenile accidently overdosed on heroin.
The investigation began on October 28, 2019 at approximately 9:12 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to a residence located in the 2700 block of Pot of Gold Circle, Rainbow, Trailer Park, Millsboro, in reference to an 11-year 0ld victim in cardiac arrest.  Upon arrival, Troopers located several small bags, containing heroin in the victim’s pocket.   In total, 30 small bags of heroin were collected from the scene.  The victim was transported to the AI DuPont Children’s Hospital.
Further investigation revealed that the victim had obtained the heroin on October 28, 2019 from a friend at Laurel Elementary School.  It was learned that the friend was driven to school by their stepmother, in a vehicle owned by their father, Gilbert Dickerson.  During the ride to school, the friend located an Altoids container, in which unknown to their knowledge concealed heroin.   Once in school, the friend opened the container, unknowing it contained heroin and proceeded to give the substance to the victim.  Laurel Elementary personnel were not aware that this exchange had occurred on their school’s property.  Once Laurel Elementary School was notified by Law Enforcement, the school’s administration cooperated fully and helped insure that this event was an isolated incident.
On October, 30, 2019, members of the Sussex Drug Unit (SDU), Sussex Governor’s Task Force (GTF), and the Laurel Police Department responded to Dickerson’s residence in Little Creek Apartments, Laurel and conducted a search.  During the course of the search, approximately 65 bags (.455 grams) of heroin were located.  Also present in the residence at this time were 3 juvenile children, ages 13, 12, and 6.
Dickerson was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:
  •  Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance
  •  Reckless Endanger First Degree (2 counts)
  •  Unlawfully Dealing With a Child Permits <18 to Remain in Place Where Dangerous Drug Activity (3 counts)
Dickerson was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $10,500.00 unsecured bond.

Northwest Woodsman: Another member of our criminal underclass who will continue this behavior until his last rap sheet entry is “deceased”. If only the rest of our once great country could could return to the days when minority crime was absent from or at least very rare in our communities. My current area of residence replicated the demographics of that bygone era and I feel fortunate to have found it. After discovering it, I moved here twelve years ago and say to myself every day, “I love this place”. The .03 percent of the population that potentially would have criminal tendencies lays pretty low and causes no problems. A homogeneous, rural population where people are friendly and help each other. There have been two murders over the last twelve years but both were domestic issues. It is similar to the eastern shore of the 1950s and I often go into stores leaving the keys in my vehicle and although I carry, I have no fears for my wife or my safety.

They don't really want the big dealers in this " war on drugs". The number of arrests wouldn't be large to warrant the monies spent. Get all the little fish for large numbers!! When was the last time you heard of a bust of some guy/gal with 10-50 lbs?
