Only a crazy person would seriously suggest that we abolish prisons. So, naturally, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did just that in a tweet on Monday.
The New York Democrat said, “Mass incarceration is our American reality. It is a system whose logic evolved from the same lineage as Jim Crow, American apartheid, & slavery.” She continued, “That means we need to have a real conversation about decarceration & prison abolition in this country.”

Clueless is the norm for her, and she refreshes that state of mind on a frequent schedule.
She fails to grasp that each inmate had a trial, and a jury of their peers found them guilty. Often the charge they are convicted for is less serious than the most serious charge levied; this less serious charge drives their sentence. For defendants too poor to afford a lawyer, the public pays for legal counsel. Multiple levels of appeal are available and often legal counsel is pro bono (free).
Is AOC shedding any tears for victims? If so, that news hasn't leaked out.
I can't stand either of the "squad" or demoncrats in general.
She's a lot short on thinking about the outcomes of all of her "what ifs."
