Where's OSHA?

I have many friends in the construction industry who have been slammed with fines from the state, many of those charges were ridiculous. When I see a trash truck heading down Rt. 50 with a guy hanging off the back and playing around I just can't believe this is legal. Maybe it is, I don't know but when I think back at the fines my friends have experienced, this is just crazy. They don't let Firemen do it any more.

Agreed it's not safe, but this is America. Let people do what they want and let them deal with the consequences.

It won't been long before this guy is out of a job. Most waste collectors are acquiring those robotic gadgets that pick the trash can up, dumps it automatically, and places it back on the ground.

1:26 I agree with your Libertarian views. As long as it hurts no one else have at it.

I'm in construction, and know tons of people in construction and we have never been fined by OSHA. Ive only ever seen OSHA once lol. Unless you live in NYC or some big city, I think you're full of it. The only time they really come around is on the big projects like hotels and condos. Follow the rules and you be fine, don't follow the rules and you get fined...see what I did there?!

1:26, I disagree. If he fell off and was run over, the other person would have to deal with that for the rest of their life. When it can involve other people, there need to be guidelines.

No way. In my neighborhood not one construction worker followed OSHA rules. Men on roof tops without a harness. The builder knew it and looked the other way. Maybe you are being singled out by your competitors. Just a thought.

OSHA never bothers non-union construction workers

Don’t need harness or hard hat for residential work unless under a state job.

They used to years ago. I was fined for not having a harness on capping off and finishing a roof. We had just took the harness off.

Wrong its about safety not who, what, where,or when you work. Let a guy fall off a roof putting shingles. Residential is just not enforced until something happens commercial and industrial are because that easy picking for MOSHA/OSHA. It's only for contractor's and business not harry home owner working on his own home

so in other words. if you are that much of a big p#ssy then stay on the porch! let us other dogs run free!

What about last year when a local fireman was riding on the front bumper of an engine putting out those blue markers? I believe he fell off and got run over. That was hushed up real quick.

@July 3,2019 at2:53 PM. Make up your mind. Firs you say you never get fined by OSHA. Then you say ". . .don't follow the rules and you get fined. So, which is it? And OSHA does fine people in construction. The company I worked for was fined on a SMALL construction job across the highway from PRMC. Shut it down till regulations were followed. So you're absolutely wrong.

Take the picture and send it to OSHA and ask them why this fool is not harnessed off. Plus tell them the name of the company. Anyone seeing an unsafe condition on any construction site can turn them in. Just make the call. It has happened.

Northwest Woodsman: Too many lawyers and “Safety Sally’s” out there. I saw toe bicyclists yesterday riding without helmets and the silly spandex outfits and gave them a thumbs up.
