Governor Hogan says Point-in-Time count reveals a drop in Maryland homelessness rate

(WBFF) -- On Wednesday, Governor Larry Hogan announced that overall homelessness rate in Maryland has been reduced by 9.47%, according to data from the 2019 Point-in-Time Count.

“We have made significant progress in preventing homelessness in Maryland by partnering with local housing and community development programs, and their good work and dedication are integral to our efforts,” said Governor Hogan. “We have improved the administration and delivery of state and federal resources, and have supported significant projects that have contributed to this impressive reduction.”

According to the Point-in-Time Count, the number of chronically homeless individuals dropped by 14.8% and veterans experiencing homelessness declined by 8.58%.

The Point-in-Time Count is conducted by the state’s 16 designated Continuums of Care and supported by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. It is a count and survey of homeless persons on a single night in January by local homelessness service providers.

Not hard to do that, when you lock them up or kick them out of the city/state... Homelessness never goes down... There is a reason why people are homeless you morons, and if you don't have permanent address you can't work, no place will hire you... IF you can't be hired based on that crap, then you can't get a permanent place to live with no money... How moronic are you people????

Tell The Point-in-Time Count to come to the Eastern Shore and count. From what I see around Salisbury the count must have increased +++ BIG TIME

Local homeless can get all the documents they need including a mailing address at HALO in Salisbury. HALO is well connected with their own post office, DMV visits for IDs and more. Many agencies are working hard to give the homeless a hand up and the support they need.

The measuring tool is flawed.

10am You know a lot of things that just aren't true. You assume much that is not fact. How moronic are we? Less than you apparently.

There are reasons that people are homeless.

"While the general impression is that the homeless are primarily the chronic and episodic, those unfortunate individuals often seen living on the streets in the downtown areas of our cities, the fact is that more than half the homeless are families with children. The vast majority of these have been thrust into homelessness by a life altering event or series of events that were unexpected and unplanned for. Contrary to the belief that homelessness is primarily the result of major traumatic events or physical and mental disabilities, there are many top causes of homelessness in America."

Keep thinking you know everything. In the meantime you will hear nothing but that which bolsters your argument. You will learn nothing that doesn't prop up your beliefs. Actually, it is the same mentality that allows racism and bigotry to flourish. Your own ignorance is pushing you towards an incorrect conclusion. Your leftist friends will be feasting on your carcass the moment your virtue signaling and white night-ery stray into restricted waters.

Enjoy your pathetic life.
