Number of Americans who practice witchcraft estimated to be as high as 1.5 MILLION

The number of self identified witches in America has soared in recent years to 1.5 million.

A survey by the Pew Research Center found that 0.4 per cent of Americans, between 1 and 1.5 million - identify as Wicca or Pagan, according toQuartz.

That means there are now more witches in the US than there are Presbyterians who have around 1.4 million adherents.

Experts believe that the explosion in the witch population is due to millennial women’s embracing of new-age spirituality, mindfulness, meditation, and yoga.

Wicca, also called Witchcraft or The Craft, is a Pagan religion which emerged in Britain in the early 20th century. Based on ‘pre-Christian traditions,’ it was popularized by a retired British civil servant named Gerald Gardner throughout the 1950s and 1960s.

Wicca adherents praise nature and nature's gods and goddesses.

They practice outside in parks, gardens or fields.

They endeavor to achieve self-awakening through dancing, singing, chanting, and with the use of herbs and incense.

it's no different than worshiping someone who supposedly died, came back to life, walked on water, turned water into wine and other astonishing feats.

Be kind to others, make yourself happy without hurting others and procreate...that is the meaning of life folks.

Romans 2:5-8 "because of your hard and unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. God “will repay each one according to his deeds.”a To those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow wickedness, there will be wrath and anger."

Unfounded assertions that are not scary nor believable in the slightest.

If your BEST argument is a thug mob protection racket "pay for protection or else", then I call into question the moral nature of your deity, and I reject any assertions of mercy or love from said deity. These ideals are patently in contradiction with each other, AND the argument could be made that such a deity would be impossible to exist because of said contradiction, much like a married bachelor or a square circle can not exist.

Based on "pre-Christian" traditions means that this religion pre-dates Christianity. As in it was before Christianity.

In fact it is common knowledge that Christianity adopted many pagan practices and holidays, then put their own spin on them to claim them as "Christian".

While paganism is just as "woo-y" and silly, in my opinion, as most religions, it is certainly less dangerous and volatile as many modern religions. Good thing that America is a Secular Republic that is founded on protecting religious liberty for all citizens.

"But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you." (Deuteronomy 22: 20-21)

If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile toward me, 28 then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over. 29 You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters."(Leviticus 26:27-30)

Gosh, could we all get along and not preach one day of the year? THATS what has the world in such a mess - everyone preaching what THEY think is correct.

Rodney King was soooooooo correct in saying can't we all just get along. RIP!

For those of who believe in God and call upon His name in prayer, we sense his presence and power in our lives. We see miracles happen in people's lives. We witness healings when doctors give no hope. Just because some choose not to believe does not change truth. Seek Him and you will find Him. That's a promise of God Almighty Himself.

Elvira, Elizabeth Montgomery, Alyssa Milano, Holly Combs, Rose McGowen or even Nicole Kidman as a witch would be fine by me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is so true. I know of many Witches in DC. Palosi is one for sure! We all know Hillary Clinton is Satan's Daughter, and Amy Shummer is one. Maxine Waters is one. The list is almost endless.

7:38 in some aspects you are correct but just because Christianity has been watered down by deception and a satanic New Age religion agenda is here..this does not mean that GOD is not merciful to those who are willing to ask for it, it's really that simple! as for wicca it is a pagan religion, rooted in demonic satanic luciferian ideology it's that simple! deny the truth at your own peril

Hey, you left out the awesome sauce at the end of that chapter that says if a woman is raped inside the town limits and she doesn't scream out for help she gets killed... and if a guy rapes her outside of town, he can then buy her for 50 shekles and she can never unmarry her rapist.... some loving, just, merciful, moral God huh?

23 If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, 24 you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the young woman because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man’s wife. You must purge the evil from among you.

25 But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. 26 Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor, 27 for the man found the young woman out in the country, and though the betrothed woman screamed, there was no one to rescue her.

28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[c] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

Face the facts... women were considered property, and as a pawn in property ownership and a way to keep power and money and belongings in the hands of those who had it.. and it was sanctioned and supported by your deity and your bible.

NOW, if you wanna say the Jesus came and the new testament changes THAT, then ipso facto it ALSO changes what verse 20-21 too, doesn't it.

OF COURSE people can then argue that Jesus came not to change the law but to enforce it.... blah blah blah... what a confusing mess.

More evidence that man makes the bible fit to what he wants it to at that moment in time.

I'm not sure exactly what I believe but I know this, my mother who was a very devout Christian Scientist told my wife that when I was a small child I had infantile paralysis (now called polio). She said I was healed through prayer. I of course don't remember anything about it but I am walking around and have had so far a pretty long and healthy life.

So muslims believe their god lives on the planet Mars. It is written he visited the moon and Mars and claimed them as his. So, we have already walked on the moon and about to go to mars in the next decade or so. Will they meet the so called god the muslims pray to?

How does one demonstrate that it was the prayer that healed or helped, and not the treatment of the doctors?

I know one thing that is absolute fact. Parents call out to their god and pray every day for healing for their children, and their children die. Suffer horribly. Take some time and visit a children's cancer ward, and then tell me about how well prayer works.

What do you think the number is of children who died from polio, whose parents begged and prayed for healing. How many from cancer? How many from other diseases?

Prayer, absolutely does not work to heal ailments. Why don't people pray to grow limbs back? Why won't God heal amputees? Yet people think prayer can heal diseases that we know go into remission on their own in certain percentages?

Of all of the possible reasons you were so lucky to be spared, the odds of it being related to prayer is unimaginably incredibly small.

Superstition has proved an adequate coping and controlling system for sapiens to make sense of their mortality. We are animals and thrive given natures prime directives and die and become dust. A little hope and belief evolved as a preservational mechanism. Just ask your pet. We are all providing, loving un-conditional, none judge mental and hardly vengeful, scornful and ruling God's to them. We should be such pets to such a glorified master that's word have only been made up by men. A curious notion would be that he,she or it is more dependent upon US for ushering being for them than we are for ours from them. A garden full of animals at best and primordial breeding food chain. I think the almighty would be pretty bored and a bit neglected without us but again that is over imagining the fatality of biodegration.
