City of Salisbury In Desperate Need of Golf Carts for The National Folk Festival, NOW!

After the head director from the National Folk Festival organization came to Salisbury this week they freaked out because they wanted to know, WHERE ARE ALL THE GOLF CARTS?

It turns out Mayor Jake Day and staff have yet to order the multitude of necessary golf carts this event demands. They wanted to see a contract showing the City's purchase/lease/rental and guess what, the City had nothing.

Considering this is going to be the busiest time of year for GOLFING, the odds, (once again) are severely against the City getting the units they'll need, even if they BEG.

Considering they only have a "questionable" 130 volunteers for this event, they are also telling the City they need to HIRE some 700 people for the event, even though the City has been running radio ads in Delaware and Virginia for volunteers, no one is interested. As I mentioned yesterday volunteers will have to take a training class for TWO days 2 days before the event takes place. It's no wonder no one wants to get on board. The estimate of volunteers must have been brought forth by the Salisbury Fire Department with their lies about how many volunteers the SFD has.

Elect and hire a bunch of children, this is what you get. Anyone want to place bets that Jake Day won't even be in town when this event takes place?

Radio ads? Geesh. Pathetic. Does anyone listen to radio anymore? Even my 87 yr old father has XM.

There's a business on the east side of Cambridge that has hundreds....but if I were the business, I sure wouldn't want to be associated with a sh*tshow event that a boy is trying to put on.

Business suicide!

10:06, REALLY? This child of a mayor has screwed up at every angle, starting with committing to this event in the first place and beyond. Just because I expose the TRUTH/FACTS, I'm a negative person? NO! More like, where the hell is the rest of your local media on these matters AND if they do in fact get on board, will they actually tell the TRUTH or will they twist the whole thing again? You people are so stupid, especially when you challenge me and IGNORE just how stupid and inexperienced these people are. MILLIONS of your tax dollars are risk and Joe Albero is a negative person, unbelievable. It's no wonder this country so desperately needed President Trump. It was your election to lose, fools.

They DIDNT elect JOE ALBERO and this is what they GET. This event will be a YUGE failure. Jake Day won't be here, the MOB of folks will TERRORIZE Salisbury. They wont have WATER, no GOLF CARTS and they will LOOT and BURN Salisbury until the GOVERNOR calls in the NATIONAL GUARD. When its all OVER all that's left will be the SMOKING RUINS of a city with 200 orange bikes BENT and TWISTED and thrown up into the TREES.

Joe is a positive person. You people are what turned Sby into the smelly Crotch of the Eastern Shore. Its you people who are not positive goal oriented and positive goal driven. You people need to get off the shore once in awhile and see how it is in the real world. You people are so backwards you think a silly festival that some were conned into hosting is the answer to all the cities troubles. Bashing the festival is not being negative. It's called being realistic a quality that escapes you people. Day's a loser always has been and so are the people who support him. They too are extremely unsophisticated and need to get off the shore once in awhile. Other areas are bringing in jobs good paying ones, home ownership is increasing but you people get off on a stupid festival. It's mind boggling how low standards and expectations you people have. Its sickening really how low you have sunk and how you have been reduced to nothing more then a mouthpiece for failure.

In the end, the carts will be rented and somebody will make money. At least a couple of them will end up in the river. A few will be driven to the west side of town and get a new paint job and new owners.

Anonymous said...

Oh did Jake forget to mention the city has already bought enough golf carts to implement his latest creation golf cart rentals for folk festival. This will be drafted off of the quickly successful 🍊 bike rentals

PAINT THE GOLF CARTS ORANGE AND RENT THEM JAKIE!

10:06 anyone who is "positive" over this costly event is a piss poor example of a human being. Let me clue you in: Over 40% of Salisbury residents live below the poverty level. The short sale foreclosure rate in Salisbury is very high and it's not because people bought homes they couldn't afford. Many have owned the homes 20+ years. Or had to refinance years ago to do repairs and got behind. People especially older ones can's afford to live in the city because of high taxes for events like this one that will benefit a very few and only short term. Anyone who is "positive" over this event is not a good decent human being. All you care about are parties and your own good time while many in Salisbury are completely ignored (until voting time) and marginalized.

Where will the carts be used? It is ILLEGAL to drive them on the City Streets AND Maryland roads .

9:58: Awww, wittle baby doesn't doesn't like to be told facts. Wittle baby needs its wittle bottle.

Golf carts for WHAT PURPOSE?

Just put people on the handlebars of the orange bikes!

Anonymous said...

Maybe Greater Salisbury will come to the rescue.Would be a small price to pay to keep Day and Heath in the good graces of some and control of the city and possible county. Not ideal timing for a potentially monumental failure.

Anonymous said...

He puts this out after Home Land Security said Festival should not take place he is worried about getting golf carts, $ already spent on orange bike brigade. People please city council, county council, and city administrator need to stop the madness now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Better get that rent money up front first
Just saying

Joe is “positive” about everything.

You’re the cupcake.

"The estimate of volunteers must have been brought forth by the Salisbury Fire Department with their lies about how many volunteers the SFD has."

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! That is so true.

And the icing on the cake is when Jake Day promoted that doofus John Tull to lead the Salisbury Fire Department. The same doofus that has been hiding low the last 4 years and all of a sudden he rises to the top. Funny how those Snowbirds at the Salisbury Fire Department have short-term memory loss just like the Snowflakes that support Jake Day.

The same John Tull that kissed every fire chief's a$$ to get to the top.

The same John Tull that kissed the fire chiefs a$$ to get hired.

The same John Tull that kissed Steve Brezler's a$$ to get promoted.

The same John Tull that kissed David See's a$$ to get promoted.

The same John Tull that kissed Jeff Simpson's a$$ to get promoted.

The same John Tull that stabbed Rick Hoppes in the back to get promoted by Jeff Simpson.

The same John Tull that came out of hiding to kiss Jake Day's a$$ to get promoted.

What a joke Jake Day and John Tull are!

Fake Leaders:
Rick Hoppes - I'm too lazy to walk to our gym
John Tull - I will kiss an a$$ for a promotion
Barb Duncan - I wish the officers would quit posting on Sbynews.com
Tom Stevenson - Don't my sleeve tats look bad azz
Julia Glanz - I fired Allison Pulcher
Andy Kitzrow - Kidz Klub Andy
Keith Cordrey - Klueless Keith
Everett Howard - Reject from the SPD
Jeanne Loyd - I need a cigarette
Bill Garrett - I need a cheeseburger

This city is SCREWED!!

I was looking at Jake Day's Instagram post about Rick Hoppes' "Last Ride" on a fire engine before he retires and got a good laugh for the day.

cityofsby

cityofsbyOne last ride. Thank you Chief Hoppes for 30 dedicated years to the City of Salisbury and @salisburysbravest #fireservice #firechiefretirement

Jake Day called Rick Hoppes Salisbury's Bravest? WTF!! Brave at what? He never fought fire so he can't be a "brave" firefighter. He was just a useless fireman that knew how to kiss the right butts stab enough backs to get to the top.

Oh, and let's not forget how racist Rick Hoppes is.

The Three Stooges could be doing a better job.

People in Salisbury better be ready to protect themselves and their family/property --- when word gets out that there will be limited to no security, the boys from the various 'hoods in Salisbury will descend upon those tourists and create pure hell.
It might even turn into some rioting.
Be ready because your "leaders" really don't give a damn about you.
Keep cheering.

2:55- That was your response? Are you 6 yrs old old!? Simpleton!

3:17, What yellow line are you talking about, and why can't police step past it?

Anonymous said...

Given the location of the supposed Event downtown by the river next to the Hotel, I simply don't see any need for more than 3 golf carts. That should be all that is necessary to deliver the ice to the vendors. Right?

Don’t forget Bootsy Gladwell!!

Now that is funny!
Thank you

Anyone unfortunate enough to spend time around stevenson will realize there's no substance. He created a whole personna and identity like the rest of Day's flunkies. Live off the city as long as possible, and now he's some kind of cross training fitness expert. Let me work out a little bit put my tight fitting spandex shirts on get on my japaJapa motorcycle and declare I'm a rebel. I thought this old white guy scenario was played out

I would guess that this will become a complete flop. Nothing to worry about here

Le' Affair Folked Fest is funny, in a sad sort of way.

The idea of being host city has merit but should have been floated as a community goal to be realized 3 years down the road. Then community support and logistics details could have been ramped up. But since nobody is/was on board when Jake and his tiny band of cronies made their surprise announcement the event was in trouble from the beginning.

He is a novice, and has surrounded himself with those with even less experience. It shows, repeatedly. And they don't seem to be mastering the learning curve.

I'm at an event currently that has several hundred thousand attendees, hundreds of national and local vendors, and is in its 36th year. It's free, and didn't start this big, and has grown organically. It started out as a two day event and has grown to 10 days of associated activities culminating in two major days.

Jake and his merry band have absolutely no clue. Porta potties, golf carts, communications radios, traffic control, trash gathering, stocking and restocking, food trucks, electricity, security overnight, etc. The list goes on and on. They better pray for lack of attendance and a PR black eye this year in hopes of getting a chance to do better the following years.

I just show up each year and enjoy the event but have a background that lets me appreciate what they accomplish by way of planning. The program this year is over 100 pages, 8x11, full color, filled with history and details, including around six pages listing volunteers alphabetically and year they began in 4 columns per page.

Too bad; so sad. Tough luck, 'bury!

Do you want to know the reason Salisbury got chosen for this event? Because no one else wanted it or it's head ache.

Who has ever heard of the National Folk Festival before now?

Who even knew the National Folk Festival headquarters was in Maryland?

No one knew because it is a lame event. Jake Day is just trying to get so much going on in Salisbury that no one is paying attention because they are drooling over Jake thinking he is a real leader. The sad thing is those same idiots vote.
