Vote For Red Roost

Crabbers have been commercially catching blue crabs (also known as Maryland crabs) from the Chesapeake Bay since the mid 19th century. Today, summertime means heading to your favorite crab house or seafood market to tuck into steamed crab, crab cakes and crab soup made from these Chesapeake Bay crustaceans. Steamed crabs, arguably the most popular preparation, typically get cooked in plenty of Old Bay Seasoning and are best served with a pitcher of cold beer. Vote for your favorite place for Maryland crabs and crab cakes once per day until voting ends on Tuesday, June 26 at noon ET. The winners will be announced on 10Best on Friday, July 6.

How long before crabs are extinct? Already, SMALL crabs can't be bought anywhere in Ocean City. The smallest they grow and sell now are MEDIUM.

My House. No fillers used just egg and spices like pepper / lemon pepper, garlic, onion / onion powder and cannot leave out the Old Spice. Brown and enjoy.

3:46 PM: You dummy! Crabs are getting bigger! It wasn't long ago that LARGE was as big as they came. Now, JUMBO is the biggest you can get. Siibm people will stop buying MEDIUM snd more will buy the JUMBO size.

As a side note, Phillips closed their Northern restaurant and it re-opened as a (not too good) Mexican restaurant. At the same time, "Rusty Jimmies" just north in the Town of Fenwick Island has a small place that permits you to bring your own beer. That's how Phillips got started.

3:46- Ocean City doesn't "grow" crabs. You can't buy small crabs because it is illegal. Just like fish, they have to size up to harvest. Why would you even want small crabs? Crazy comment!

Tourist go to Old Mill in Delmar, Hoopers and other OC places. These establishments know this and tend to give small Crabs because they know the tourist don't know the difference.

Locals that don't prepare crabs at their own house go to the Red Roost. After all if you know where to find the Red Roost chances are you are a local.

A friend once said to me that Tourist come for the beach but the locals know that the real beauty and treasures of Delmarva are on the bay. I fully agree.

Stopped going to the Red Roost. They got too expensive. Plus they would make you wait for your chicken till you filled up on hush puppies and such so you would not eat much chicken. Everytime the same excuse. "Oh we are cooking it right now". Even if they had just opened and only had a few people so far. Got tired of it.

Old Mill is expensive as hell too. No better than Sysco food.
