The main reason I started Salisbury News was for this very purpose, your local media completely misleads you.
The LIBERALS here in Salisbury work together to build up hope that this new redesign is about to happen to the Downtown Library. Read again, it says PROPOSED.
Now, here's the TRUTH. The County is scheduled to give the Library $400,000.00 a year. However, the Library is a lot like the BOE, maintenance of effort. The County exceeds what they are required to give them as the County gives them around $1,400,000.00 a year and they too, (like the BOE) piss the extra million away every year and then go after the County Council and Executive by throwing crap like this in front of the public knowing the County is NOT going to fund this improvement. Then, (as usual) they try to make the Council and Executive look like the bad guys by turning them down.
The Liberal Agenda, (especially locally) is a load of crap. I called the Executive and this was not brought to them in the first place, SURPRISE!
Unless you people want your taxes raised, stop beating up the Council and Executive for crap like this. Just because people like Mike Dunn and Jake Day want all this beautification and improvements doesn't mean YOU can afford it. Enough is enough!

Anyone thinking of voting for Jack Heath for County Executive should pay heed. If he gets elected, anything the city wants, the county will give. We can not afford as county taxpayers to finance the city's dreams.

OK let's be fair, either they love taxes, or they don't give a damn about their city, either way they love taxes, because more of it is what they will get!!!!! When you have a gay (yes he is gay), child mayor, who just does what ever he wants all willy nilly, and doesn't research or investigate or even do survey's before they do any construction, like the main street improvement, and the pavilion they are putting by the river downtown, you will spend a crap ton of money becasue I guarantee with every construction job there are unforeseen variables and the contractors make out like bandits with change orders... I work in the Civil engineering field, and I have never worked on a job or seen a job where something wasn't missed, or known about in advance even with extensive survey's...
I mean seriously, why do you all even bother with complaining seeing how it does not good, or changes anything, I mean your not going to stand up and fight back, your not going to recall the mayor or anyone on council who is corrupt, so why even complain about it???? It makes people sick of hearing about it, and that is just as bad... But you get what you want, what you ask for and what you deserve... Now shut the fuck up or get over it...

Until the County sets parameters and hold the City and other entities they just give money to accountable because it feels good this crap will continue. The County Executive needs to just say NO for a change. Boy does the next election really seems like it will be very interesting, especially all these tax dollars just being handed out like candy at a Christmas Parade. What happen to conservative spending?
I quit going to the library years ago. It's become a hangout for the homeless and drug users. Last time I was there, there were homeless people sleeping on the sofa and chairs. Others were hogging up the computers so no one could use them.
With the internet, the public Library is a dinosaur of the past. The internet has for the most part, replaced books. I purchase most of my books through my kindle app through my Samsung tablet.
You don't need a building anymore for the public library. They need to get with the plan and go electronic. Since my tax money is paying for this, why not have an electronic library that we can visit online and download books like a two week checkout that you have in a library and make it simple and easy?
I have no desire to see a county library looking that stupid. Have they forgotten that this is HISTORIC Downtown Salisbury??? They should be forced to go back to the original look of the Armory.
Look out for that Mark Kilmer on the County Council. The liberal side is coming out in him and he wants to fund the County Library what they are asking. Screw him, I will vote for his opponent and anyone else that claims to support funding the library more. The library is nothing but a gathering place for the homeless and free internet for the pervs to look at porn on their computers.
