Bastardi says.. We're Not Done Yet!

You saw that we gave you a good heads-up here on SBYNews about the Nor'easter we've just experienced. (You didn't hear that on the TV news, did you? :-)

That's because we are paying attention. Were you ready for it?

And once again, we will give you a warning that there is likely more trouble ahead.

For decades, Joe Bastardi at Weatherbell.com has been analyzing the past weather patterns (rather than staring at the computer models), and he had been saying that the weather that produced this past storm was very much like the patterns from 1962. And the results turned out to be about the same.

But unlike the people who stare at computer models, Joe called it weeks in advance.

Guess what? There is another pattern developing that is similar to March of 1993, when a BIG storm came up out of the Gulf of Mexico and bombed the eastern seaboard..

About March 13th is what we are looking at.. is that enough notice?

Be ready.

It must be true since I've been hearing it all day long.

If the jet stream can be pushed to the south enough, then a tremendous amount of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico can be parlayed up the eastern seaboard. Yes, it will produce a great "NorEaster". The key is to lay some extremely cold wind into the moisture coming in from the west - and time it just perfectly. Then we will get a huge snowstorm and everyone will forget (for a while) about global warming.

Thank you

They can predict weather a week or two away but can't get it correct the same day. I don't listen to or watch weather reports.

You do know that computer weather models are based on data from all past weather events, and the conditions that lead up to the events, don't you? Past weather patterns ARE used by the National weather service to program the predictive computer models.

When I first moved to Fruitland MD from Laurel MD I was not sure what to expect from the weather. I watched WBOC weather reports. Everytime WBOC called for high Gusty winds I would bring in my lawn furniture. I did that twice. Nothing happened. Never listened to WBOC again. Couldn't believe how wrong they were.
