Queen Anne's County-Arson Arrest-Castle Marina Road, Chester

Queen Anne's County, February 4, 2018, Two Queen Anne's county juveniles face arson and other related charges for their involvement in a fire that occurred on Friday, February 2nd at 5:28 PM. The fire which was reported by several neighbors occurred at 800 Castle Marina Road in Chester and brought out 25 firefighters from the Kent Island VFD and surrounding fire departments. It took the firefighters 2 hours to bring the blaze within the vacant two and a half story house under control. Deputy State Fire Marshals determined the house was owned by "K Hovnanian at Kent Island LLC" and was built in 1900. The estimated value of the home based on the square footage is $250,000.00.

Deputy State Fire Marshals determined the cause of the fire to be arson. They were later able to locate and interview two juveniles (ages 14 and 15) who confessed to pulling old Christmas trees into the house and intentionally setting them on fire with a lighter they had found. The juveniles then ran from the scene without reporting the fire.

Deputy State Fire Marshals will be forwarding charges of Arson 2nd Degree, Malicious Burning 1st Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property, Burglary and Trespassing to the Department of Juvenile Services for formal court action. The home was considered a complete loss.
